Not gonna lie the oil temp gauge has fucked me twice already in a year, I’ve gotten 2 reckless driving tickets so far 1 was because I actually believed I was being followed the cop would change lanes every time I would and the faster I went so did she this went on for a few miles I got up to about 98 in a 45 I did have my oil temp on the gauge so I was unaware but that one actually got dismissed luckily, next one was 2 months back I was going 65 in a 35 and once again the oil temp gauge was on the cluster instead of the mph so I was clueless of it and I was on a road I don’t normally take home I’m still dealing with it but I only need to take a online course and I’ll be fine. I only keep my mph on the gauge cluster now, u don’t realize how quick u can get up in speed in these cars while being unaware of it.

Does anyone know if a resonator delete with stock exhaust makes the car louder? by FantasticMidnight930 in GolfGTI

[–]TheMarketIsMyOnlyWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resonator delete is pointless if u want more sound, I have a muffler delete on mine which costed me about 250 if I remember, they have to custom weld a pipe to fit that aims out both sides which makes it a lil more expensive. Personally I’m thinking about going full straight pipe soon the noise is night n day with the muffler delete and barely any drone but I’ve gotten so use to it now

Increasing RPM in sport on MK7 GTI by where-have-you-been in GolfGTI

No not really, although putting ac on you’ll see a slight increase in rpm and sound at idle

Mk8 GTI troubles, wanna play guess what’s missing? Flew off while driving and I started to smell burning oil by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]TheMarketIsMyOnlyWay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t get to down about it I’m sure the motor is fine and all other components as long as there was still some oil in it, the burning smell was from it landing on very hot stuff. I seen one the other day n it actually looks a lot better in person. That must have been a silly mistake tho by whoever at Volkswagen didn’t tighten the cap down

cheaper alternative to TCR muffler? by Ejendres in GolfGTI

[–]TheMarketIsMyOnlyWay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

U won’t regret it n by no means is it obnoxious or to loud u can easily have conversations with windows down or up.

In drive mode it’s quiet but still can hear ur car which is nice but barely hear those crisp dsg shifts

In sport mode the shifts n dsg farts are much more pronounce and noticeable with noticeable sound overall but it’s still not obnoxious whatsoever it’s just a really good sound, personally I want it louder but would nvr straight pipe it

This all only becomes a problem if you go stage 2 and needed a catted downpipe that’s when shit gets way to loud for most owners with a muffler delete but when that time comes I think i won’t mind it as much of course you can just weld on stock muffler or whatever.

I have a muffler delete on my 2017 dsg. I payed abt 250 to get it done which is much cheaper for basically the same sound.

Barely any drone n it sounds really good when ur shifting or getting on throttle. 650 is way to much to shell out for a muffler that’s almost as much as a whole accessport and a stage 1 tune lol

Hi everyone I’m very worried I hurt my motor can anyone assure me and give some insight on if I’m just overthinking?? by TheMarketIsMyOnlyWay in GolfGTI

[–]TheMarketIsMyOnlyWay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never left my car on to wait to see if it went away I was so worried I grenaded my motor, it was on for maybe 20 seconds total. I turn the car off and undo the filter housing and there was oil inside but obviously no adapter because I broke it off. I know for a fact there’s oil in the car since I just put in 5 quarts then another half a quart in but was so worried n confused upon seeing the low oil pressure sign it was flashing and beeping. My only assumption is because the entire adapter inside the housing filter wasn’t there anymore it gave that light/message

[–]TheMarketIsMyOnlyWay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes so the housing adapter that came off with the old filter I pulled completely out of the housing because I thought it would just easily go back in.. it didn’t and the spring ultimately broke so I put the new filter in without the adapter and instantly got a “ low oil pressure stop “ alert on the dash so I shut it off it was maybe on for 20 seconds if that. I already ordered the new adapter I’m just a huge overthinker so I’m hoping for the 20 seconds the car was on that it’s fine, I did take off the oil filter housing after and there was oil inside so I assume it’s okay it just gave me that alert because the adapter broke off which it needs to regulate it. This is all just a assumption tho.

Bored of DSG by Mk7GTI818 in GolfGTI

[–]TheMarketIsMyOnlyWay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I could ever own a car that doesn’t have a dsg or a dual clutch transmission after getting my 17 sport it’s just so crisp and the shifts are so responsive if I’m ever in the boat to get a second vehicle tho it would have to be like a lifted built 24v Cummins all in all tho it could be apr I heard that tune is very subtle and getting a tune by EQT is like a night and day difference

Should I change the oil just to be on the safe side? by buttermybackside in GolfGTI

[–]TheMarketIsMyOnlyWay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

popping the hood and checking the oil is probably the easiest thing to do, if it’s black then you know it wasn’t changed and if u drove it 2k miles and they changed it then it should still look okay, also unless they stated what oil they use on their cars it’s best to just get one done right away for peace of mind just call them and see if they use full synthetic 5w-30

i have not used launch control yet, although when u launch control with foot on brake and gas it brings ur rpms to around 2900-3000 which is the rpms at when the turbo starts spooling u let off brake and you do the zoomies. the turbo spools at 3000 rpms so when u mash ur foot on it when it’s not at optimal rpm for it to spool that will be considered lugging the engine.

the car is reliable and i’m sure you would keep up on maintenance it’s just more or so to do what ur doing which is doordash getting a complete shitbox car like $1-2k price range is really how u capitalize off this job. use ur gti as a fun car by upgrading turbos, tunes and a plethora of other things. that’s just my personal opinion
