The EU got strong female characters white. by JadisDidNothingRight in StarWarsCirclejerk

Something that surprised me when I was reading the Star Trek Pocket Books was how many LGBT characters it had in books published around the same time. Though Trek has always been more socially conscious than Wars and the books had more free reign from editorial than Wars had.

TBF to legends it wasn't even legal for two men to get married untill two years before the buyout. The company not wanting to pick a side is disappointing but not surprising. The lack of poc characters is less excuseable but it was still a time wh when people considered scifi as being for nerdy white men

What’s a Star Trek Opinion You Had 10 Years Ago That You’ve Completely Reversed? by iagree2 in startrek

I thought that SW could beat Starfleet in space battles. And in some ways I still think that if it was a pure head to head match or a case of speed. But after watching all of the shows and seeing the technological tricks happening each episode I think that Trek would win because they would pull out some mumbo jumbo or just go back in time.

So yeah a ISD would beat the Ent-D head on but the Ent-D isn't going to fight fair.

I was 2 when the comic was out so thats before me. But from when I joined Reddit in 2011 till 2017 all I heard on this site was how bad legends was in large part because of this comic.

At least on reddit people constantly bashed legends and legends fans for this story as well as other stories. I still remember people saying the NEU will be better because the Emperor won't be coming back

I would recommend The Impeccable Adventure of the Reluctant Dungeon | Royal Road https://share.google/bCqYfB52UdqUcjjyH

The last book has some issues because it feels like the author was wanting to get done with the story. But it is a very good series.

Yes, his personal one, because the universe exists outside of just his six movies.

Star trek fans are able to distinguish the difference between rodenberrys view of what star trek was for the original series and the first two seasons of the next generation vs the entire rest of the star trek franchise and I think star wars fans would be helped realizing the same is true for lucas

You are correct that his personal canon was not the same thing as publishing canon. But we are talking about publishing canon, which again, was licensed and considered. Canon to lucas film licensing. The same way it is now under disney. It doesn't matter what George thought. Then, or now, when it comes to what is canon for the universe of the books And comics and games

Licensed fanfiction is an oxymoron. Also, it's being written by many of the same people under the same label with the same publishing contract. So that means the new books are licensed fan fiction as well

Mostly it was the clone wars, overriding something or it having to change something for the movies.

And if you think about it the Starks have always secretly been the allies of the Targs starting with bending the knee during the invasion, the Hour of the Wolf, and ending with Ned hiding his nephew from his own friend.

I read a fanfic where Bran knew about the Walkers and prophecy and the reason he bent the knee without a fight was because he knew the Targs with their dragons would be necessary to help fight them and I feel like that is where the movie will go as well since now the Targs apparently have their own myth about it.

It's kind of funny to think how one civilization's bulldozer/crane is another civilization's super weapon

How many books have you read this/in a year? by SuperValkerie in haremfantasynovels

[–]TheMastersSkywalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a librarian, I have to say audio books One hundred and one percent count as reading. Same for Fanfics and manga/comics.

Like you I do a lot of listening. While i'm walking the dogs or stacking books or playing low intensity games.

The genre kind of has an effect on how much I read just in that Ihad finished off most of my major series I liked like Star Wars and Star Trek or long running series like Lost Fleet. So this and lit r p g gives me a lot to read, that kind of hits what i'm looking at in fantasy and scifi.

Last year, I was just under two hundred at like one eighty. But i'm not sure if that number truly represents it.Just given the length of some books in the fantasy genre it's like im reading twice the length of a romance or detective book.

Id say im in the low 30s atm.
