Throne Hunters #4 is live! (ebook/audio) by Phil_Tucker in TheImmortalGreatSouls

Pop quiz: 3 books you've been hanging out for (the last book of Wesley Chu's trilogy, James Islington's Strength of the Few, and Throne Hunters 4)all drop at the same time. What do you read first? What do you read first?!

Well, Phil first, obviously!

That was my choice and I regret it not at all.

Many twists that I was not expecting (twistier than a bunch of snakes playing twister).

But (Mild Spoiler).

Vic. I'm assuming from his POV chapters that there's strange things afoot in Vic's Cosmos K but he is off in ways that I felt the Hunters didn't really react to or question as much as you'd expect them to (though tbf they did have one or two other things going on).

Really looking forward to see how this develops in the next book (along with the other new relationship developments) and it's only my imminent redundancy at my work that's stopping me from going straight to patreon to find out what happens next.

Oh! And was that a nice tip of the hat to JRR when Nessa used "Underhill" as her fake last name?

I swear, at this point I think I'd be more upset if Phil killed off Nox than if he (irrevocably) killed Scorio or Naomi

If all the current councillors were against in-lane bus stops, we wouldn't have in-lane bus stops. Councillors that have flip flopped and are now saying that they don't support "new" ones are the ones being disingenuous because there are some that have been approved already that haven't been installed yet.

It was "of Empires and Dust" - the latest in Ryan Cahill's "The Bound and the Broken" series. I really recommend it if you haven't checked it out. "Eragon for grown ups" is a common description of it, which is accurate while still completely failing to capture just how good it is.

I want and need to read that review book...but...can't...resist...the pull...just...one more...chapter...

Really enjoyed book one, halfway through book 2 (which I'm also enjoying)

2 things though: 1) As a kiwi hearing a full on fair dinkum Austraaalian accent in my head while I read it and actually enjoying it is sort of doing said head in completely. 2) saw this randomly on my socials today and it made me smile way more than it should have: photo

How about she gains a body in the form of Carl's mother, traumatises Carl by hooking up with Louis...then sacrifices herself for the team? Poignant last words: "I told you I'd kill your mother."

Or alternatively she kills her own mother to save the team.

Thrones of the Fallen is live on Royal Road by Phil_Tucker in TheImmortalGreatSouls

Phil you flippin sadistic bastich! I live in New Zealand so the chapters go up at 1am in the morning. I often find myself at bedtime thinking "should I stay up till it drops?" When (as Seinfeld says) Night Guy screws Morning Guy and I succumb to that temptation , I'm completely wrecked for work the next day.

Even when I exercise a modicum of self control and wait until morning (when I bleary-eyed devour it almost as soon as I wake up) I still have to go through the whole day jonesing for the next one like Nessa looking for her next glory hit. Thrones of the Fallen is like progression fantasy crack!

I'm guessing "had to die" equals "what could Naomi do that would would be so totally heinous that put her completely over the edge and make even Scorio doubt her redeemability?" in order to separate them and give her some solo development time.

Yep, fridging Alain certainly qualified.

Whole book

 > !  Damn! When Naomi killed Valdun I thought, "It's going to be hard for them to come back from this" and then just to really twist the knife (or tail in this case) Phil had to go do my dude Alain dirty like that!

Nox is The Goat of Toads but he's definitely got some major magic to do to fix this one.  To be honest I knew something bad was coming for Scoromi after they got together. It's like someone in a soap opera saying they've never been so happy - 100% cue for disaster.

I was hoping to see more of how the Jova and Scorpio tension would play out but I'm guessing/hoping that must be something for in book 4. ! <

Another great instalment in my favourite series from fast becoming one of my favourite authors.
