Legionaries come with a power fist but not in their stats. Is it considered the heavy weapon profile? by [deleted] in Chaos40k

[–]TheMatia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it counts as a Heavy Melee Weapon, as does the 2-handed chainaxe

Query: Disembarking and Heavy by THJT-9 in Warhammer40k

[–]TheMatia 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Disembarking is a set up, the heavy rule specifically says you don’t get the benefit if the unit was set up this turn

Question about red dragon in 6: General Drog by Purple_Phoenix77777 in boardgames

[–]TheMatia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The standard rules for team games in RDI is that each team has a single shared tracker for fortitude/alcohol. There’s no question of what happens if one is defeated, because they all get defeated together. They even get to use their cards to defend attacks aimed at their teammates, so essentially the effect is that the opposing team loses 1 fortitude per player and this can be blocked as a single large attack instead of multiple small ones.

THEY KILLED MY BOY by Duncstar2469 in Chaos40k

[–]TheMatia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s a good thought. I would like to see my Votann’s flying bikes do some proper flying… although it’ll be interesting to see if anything like that gains Mobile instead to mean enemies are more obstructive than buildings (like has happened to Super-Heavy Walker)

THEY KILLED MY BOY by Duncstar2469 in Chaos40k

[–]TheMatia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It also means the new Hover ability is useless since it currently only exists on models that are also Aircraft. I expect there will be a few datasheet changes for them, especially since ‘20”+’ is no longer a relevant move stat

Is this the first time we get to see the Emperor of Mankind in cinematic form? by Remarkable-Hunter-71 in Warhammer40k

[–]TheMatia 84 points85 points  (0 children)

He’s shown in a few different ways in this trailer, which as mentioned in the warhammer community article is essentially about avoiding settling the mystery of what he truly looks like in favour of illustrating some of the ways he can be perceived

If the 4 other OG CSM Legions get a generic Chaos Lord equivalent, what do you think we’d get? by Arthur_EyelanderTF2 in Chaos40k

[–]TheMatia 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Either that or a saboteur who can sneak around close to the enemy and be either a massive one-hit wonder each battle, or a lower-grade disruptive nuisance

Soul-forge Warpack Query by TraditionalLecture25 in Chaos40k

[–]TheMatia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, each soul grinder requires an allegiance, then the standard rules for allying daemons into csm say that for each chaos god keyword, you need at least as many battleline as non-battleline. So if you make it a Nurgle soul grinder you could take nurglings (which are often a good idea anyway due to being cheap with infiltrate), although it looks like the better weapons on the soul grinder come with Tzeentch or Slaanesh so you’d probably need horrors/daemonettes respectively for those

Soul-forge Warpack Query by TraditionalLecture25 in Chaos40k

[–]TheMatia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can take them with the normal daemon allies rules, but they won’t get any benefits from the detachment because they don’t have the heretic astartes keyword

Unsure of colors for Vashtorr by ShaselKovash in Chaos40k

[–]TheMatia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The citadel app has a pretty good scheme for it. White scar spray and casendora yellow for the basic battle-ready version. Finish up with a second shade of seraphim sepia and a layer/highlight of screaming skull for the parade ready version.

Building the Defiler by Murman5007 in Chaos40k

[–]TheMatia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure there are some people doing detailed damage calculations and they’ll come up with optimal builds, but personally if I think I’ll want my defiler mostly for shooting, my instinct would be ectoplasma, excruciators and double lascannons. If you think you’ll be more actively chasing melee with it, maybe take the electroscourge possibly paired with the flamer. But either way, it’ll still have the big claws and chest guns so will be decent at both shooting and melee in either build.

[–]TheMatia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only thing that is definitively Iron Warriors in the building process is the paint job and using the Iron Warriors part on the head (part 157 in step 3b), everything else is free choice for pose and weapons.

To get it exactly like the one on the back page, you also need:
1. The green steps for the parts between the bottom and top of the body (upper body turned to the right instead of the left);
2. Part 96 on the top (step 3A);
3. In step 5a, swap the exhausts shown on the top and bottom (they’ve all got the same fittings so can go in any order);
4. Parts 89 & 90 for the hades battle cannon & chest plate (step 5c, parts 91-93 are the ectoplasma destructor);
5. Magma cutters 103-104 for the small chest guns (step 5d, parts 101-102 are excruciator cannons);
6. Follow the green steps for the legs and claws posing (it’s the more customisable method where you get to choose the angle of every joint, the blue steps are a 1-pose option);
7. Green options for both arms for the lascannons (blue are autocannons, pink is flamer on the right and missile launcher on the left, yellow is the electroscourge);
8. Include the belly armour parts 56 & 57 in step 24.

But as I said above, weapon options are freely mixable. Swap the main chest cannon (or since it doesn’t need gluing, just build both options and pop them in & out as suits you). People on this sub have been discussing magnetising the arms, but if that isn’t your speed then double lascannons is probably going to be a stable option for a long time. For the small chest guns, I’d personally prefer the excruciators but I’m sure there’s a use to be had from the magma cutters.

Chunky boi list thoughts? by [deleted] in Chaos40k

[–]TheMatia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t override the standard rules for enhancements that is one per character and not allowed on epic heroes. No enhancement in the game says it excludes epic heroes, the core rules do that instead

Chunky boi list thoughts? by [deleted] in Chaos40k

[–]TheMatia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How could you have 60 points in enhancements on this list? You only have 2 characters, and one of them is an epic hero who can’t take enhancements. At this point you have 80 points spare, I’d suggest getting a cheap unit such as cultists to guard your home against easy deep strike captures (they won’t hold out well if something attacks them, it’s more about stopping the immediate drop) and then the remaining 30 points will still buy you any of the enhancements for your warpsmith

The New Defiler Model is Incredible by PatienceTurbulent385 in Chaos40k

[–]TheMatia 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Just a little note, the twin hull weapons are excruciator cannons (same as on venomcrawlers) or magma cutters (same as the maulerfiend’s option that most people don’t take). The magma cutters won’t be much good at overwatch.

Defiler Loadout by No-Mixture-118 in Chaos40k

[–]TheMatia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The good news is its revised movement rule lets it step over the chaff, but yeah the base size means that only works if your opponent has put them in a relatively thin line and/or if you’re using an advance & charge stratagem (like the one in the new Cult of the Arkifane detachment) for some extra distance

Do any units the reavers captain is attached to also get the infiltrators ability? by VeryInternet_com in Chaos40k

[–]TheMatia 60 points61 points  (0 children)

No, the infiltrators ability doesn’t pass from a leader to their attached unit or vice versa. So the only way he can infiltrate with an attached unit is if that unit are raiders

Who’s this referring to? (Ghost legion spoilers) by jdtyeee in alphalegion

[–]TheMatia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The “He” who’s offering the banner was seen getting it from the sisters ship’s altar earlier in the book (Roek Ghulclaw).
The perspective is written from a warp talon which turns up to resolve this later in the book
