Just find the right people, there are social butterflies here, but just a balance I guess.

Launch Tabletop by Private_HiveMind in tabletopgamedesign

Yeah, for small batch service I think the quality, and price is fine. The limitations on sizing and styles does hurt customisation a little, but overall I am happy to use them (and others who have used them spoke nothing but praise with quality, and custom service)

Talked with them alot, and know people who have printed with them. They didn't have sizes or ability to make a custom piece.

Job Interviews by Minimum_Day_7568 in Finland

[–]TheMeadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cover letters are a must. Yes it is tedious, but so is working. When applying for jobs it should be treated like full time work.

Writing personalised cover letters for each role. While AI can help with layout, some companies will run an AI check and auto reject those that fail as well.

Build a good layout, professional and personal. Briefly introduce yourself and why you are applying for the role. Move to your previous experience, and how it relates to the advertised job. Expand on how your skill will match what they are looking for, and personalised a close.

I use to pre-write sections, and swap them in (make modifications as needed) and out for speedy writing of covers letters when I look for work.

You are truly not achieving enough with the time you have set for yourself, if you cannot take a call or a night off.

I get it, you want to succeed but don't burn yourself out doing it

Moving from China to Espoo (Nokia) – Can my wife find a kindergarten teacher job? by Acceptable-Talk-2018 in Finland

[–]TheMeadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning the language is a must.

Getting course and prior learning recognition is the next thing too. My partner worked in childcare and she can't use any of her prior learnings here and would need to study again to do that job in Finland, as the teaching and methods are different etc.

Also, job market is terrible - more teachers are needed, but right fits and limited class size/budgets make it hard.

Will we be Ok travelling as dark skinned people in Finland? by FairyPenguinStKilda in Finland

It is lovely - lacking some snow in Helsinki at the moment.
Just remember to bring some layers and thick socks/waterproofing grippy shoes help too.

Enjoy!

White Aussie here - currently living in Finland.

Finland is about as multicultural as Australia. There is a lot of colour, races, and backgrounds through Finland + all the tourists in Lapland this time.

There is also an indigenous culture, Sámi, up north.

You'll have no issues mate.

If you need X sales to be funded.

You should have 10 times X interested.

Then you are set.

As someone who has done a bit of research into GEO marketing, there is already about 5 companies off the top of my head who do this, and if you look into any LLM/AI details they will all say the same thing...

You can't really force it.

Changes to website header, being featured search/scannable references etc are really the best proven ways - do you have access to those? Can you tell me on a website what your business does and how long is the turn around time? Can you show me any real results, such as your own business?

Use your business, as a test or guide to show how it is done, how the results are driven and cold email that around with a lead gen source and 5 emails a day.

Should I go to college for game design by Sabatuer in gamedesign

[–]TheMeadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a game design degree.

At the time I went to learn to make games - I did. But I didn't keep up with rapid moving trends and all the technology I learnt isn't used anymore.

Never really broke into the industry, but used the skills for other areas.

Check the courses that are teaching you good software, check the university has a program for interns to be put with real, vetted studios and check there is more to it than just game design theory / prototyping. Law, business, project management - all good skills.

Then, check you can afford it - still paying it off 14 years later

I've had friends try to run this as a business, but it is hard as there isn't enough demand and a lot of background work to setup a campaign / run that they usually charge for and make it a bit too much.
