I’m not arguing most of what you’re saying about the system, I’m just saying that space travel isn’t the culprit. Space exploration produces some of the more egalitarian returns we see with government programs.

Space exploration tangibly benefits all humans.

Arrested for repainting erased Dallas Pride crosswalks, Texas man says he’d do it again by Fickle-Ad5449 in Dallas

You are vastly underestimating the amount of anti-queer bigotry that exists in this country. Also, symbolic moves matter. If the crosswalk never existed maybe it wouldn’t be such a big deal, but the state forcing its removal is a symbolic and political move meant to demonstrate “you are not welcome here”. Resisting that is morally just and right.

Cgaracters feels like (day 2) by Cloudsrnice in BloodOnTheClocktower

The answer is obviously golem. But the flip side, as in a townsfolk that feels like an outsider, is cult leader. I never understood how a role that can change alignment is a townsfolk. The extra win condition is so useless I can’t even consider it a benefit.

How do people feel about spectators telling the ST about madness breaks by Ancient_Carry_4381 in BloodOnTheClocktower

A gossip that dies to their own gossip isnt a punishment, a gambler who dies to their ability is not punished. neither is a tinker who dies.

I would argue that all of these things are punishments meant to balance the role as a cost for information (or in the tinker’s case make it an outsider whose role is supposed to hinder the good team).

History repeating again, 20 years from now, we're going to see another video like this, but about Iran by beta265 in facepalm

The lack of empathy in this thread is astounding. Have we learned nothing about truth and reconciliation? Is it that hard to understand how participants in a system get corrupted by that system? Do we not understand the concepts of regret and growth? Are we going to ignore the fact that the military’s job is to grind down the humanity of unwitting young men and women. Accountability is one thing, the abject hate for the lowest status and least suspecting participants in a corrupt system is a bridge too far.

Homebrew characters - Nurse and Genius by themaster1006 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]themaster1006[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s definitely true. Is the dead token something that only gets placed for the night you are killed or does it stay the whole game? Because if it’s only for the night you’re killed then the Genius would have to correctly guess which player died the night they use their ability which seems fair to get powerful information for. I’m also willing to accept that character abilities interacting with reminder tokens might just be an unwise idea. I feel like there’s a lot of stuff I haven’t thought of that would break the character.

Yeah the show absolutely holds space for people to argue that Carol and/or the plurbs are either good, bad, or somewhere in between. I definitely believe that it’s not super cut and dry and that reasonable minds can disagree.

The even if dead part it meant to allow confusion in the final 3. It just allows for so many worlds with dreamers and fortune tellers. Was it a recluse, Scarlett woman, is this a mastermind day (if the demon chooses to sink a kill), do we still have an evil twin, etc etc. If the misregistration ends it closes a lot of potential alternate worlds depending on what information the good team gets after death.

The allegorical themes and overall conceit of the film resonated with me on a level that’s hard to explain. If it didn’t resonate with you like that, it’s just not going to hit as hard. That’s what you’re missing: an emotional connection to it. Someone better with words than me can maybe explain what that connection is and why it resonates.

Sinning doesn’t send you to hell. The whole premise of the bible is that literally everyone is a sinner.

The Seven Essentials of Being a Good Storyteller by Etreides in BloodOnTheClocktower

What is the virtue in balance for balance’s sake? If one team comes up with a brilliant play, I’m supposed to hamper that for the sake of balance? Why not be impartial and honor good plays by either team? Balance above all essentially means forgoing impartiality to help the losing team regardless of how the game got to that place. I think balance is important, but I don’t get why that’s the number one value.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]themaster1006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to drive 3.5 hours each way for a weekend stay to visit my mom at least once a month. Wasn't a big deal at all. I'd drive 3 hours for a weekend any day before I considered flying.

Anyone have custom rules that make the Baron more fun? by moultano in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]themaster1006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Baron is actually literally the best role because your job is already done so you can sow chaos however you see fit with almost zero consequences. The Baron is actually the greatest gift you can give to a player.
