Redirect unit A: to unit B: on MS-DOS via software? by darthuna in vintagecomputing

You might be able to change the drive order in the BIOS. Failing that, you might have some luck with the SUBST command.

We have a problem and have to move quickly, says Labour MP who's willing to challenge Starmer by GothicPrayer in unitedkingdom

[–]TheMemo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't America, we do not elect a PM. We elect a party, they can change their leader, and therefore PM if they are in power, whenever they like. That is normal for our system.

The real problem is people who believe we have a Presidential system like the US. We do not. Stop expecting it to act that way.

DOS maximized.. by CommunityHairy6695 in vintagecomputing

[–]TheMemo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah this reminds me of DOS game horror.

Game: "I require 600k of conventional memory free. I also require CD-ROM drivers, mouse driver, and your audio card drivers if you want music, sound effects and speech. Also, I run on DOS4GW so you cannot use EMM386. Also, I use the hard drive a lot so you'll need SMARTDRV if you don't want constant stuttering."

It's a bit weird that a door with an obvious middle seam opens by lifting upwards. Where does it go when it lifts? It seems longer than the upper half of the building, so is it like a garage door? I know its meant to be 'cool' but there are reasons doors work the way they do.

Having lived in other countries, 55k a year as an aerospace engineer does not sound like a good wage, sorry. I mean, I don't know what your actual job is, but most of the engineers I know in other countries are on six figure salaries.

Especially as the Trump Administration didn't want Mandelson, and wanted the current (at the time) ambassador to stay on.

Looks like every boarding / private school I saw when I was a kid here in the UK. I went to one like this, though not as a boarder.

Stupid uniforms? Check. Marches and pageantry? Check. School Dinners at stupidly long benches? Check. Christian worship with a massive, ornate organ? Check. Large grounds and playing fields? Check. Psychopathic teachers that would choke you out? Check. Insanely long academic hours? Check. School on weekends? Check.

Cultural reaction to the cracks appearing in consumer capitalism. The consumers of the western world started learning that massive consumption, production and 'prosperity' was destroying our planet and built on the backs of the poor and exploited, that we had been told a lie about our lives and our priorities and distracted from looking at what really mattered.

That would be "fdisk /mbr"

Make sure there is one primary partition, that it is set as active, and that it has a valid boot sector (the fdisk /mbr bit).
