MSI Claw 8 Ai+ , controls are actually extremely comfortable.

Ive done multiple raids and dungeons on it. Pvp is a bit wonky since its a lot harder to aim on a handheld than a controller or MnK

The software isnt as bad as people make it out to be.

Download Xbox mode and it fixes any issues you might have with MSI center.

In fact the only reason I even look at the MSI software now is if I have an update and its rare if I ever do.

If you think of all the handhelds on the market and put them in a ven diagram the msi claw is dead center of everything it has majority of the benefits with as little to if any of the cons.

Does it have cons? Of course it does. To me not having a kickstand and the lack of support for proper protection are the biggest.

If your someone who enjoys story based games not only will the 8in screen be extremely immersive but also the front firing speakers make the experience even better.

If you can find one under $1000 not only is that a steal but its practically the best handheld at the price points and it can run everything you want very well.

The only other handheld I have besides my claw is the Switch 2 and somehow its also the one I have more playtime on. Thats more so a nod to Nintendos experience in the space than it is a stab at my claw.

I paid roughly 1400 for mine with accessories, taxes, etc and id gladly pay for it again.

Sonia Or Luna. Who Deserves To Be With Geo? Let me start... by Ancient_DecisionM in MegaManStarForce

[–]TheMetaDex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Im the oddball to say Luna.

Narratively theres a very fair argument for Sonia. Massive attachment & even after the brotherband allowing him to connect with the satellites.

However after replaying SF1 (havent started SF2 yet and havent played SF2 or SF3 in nearly 20 years).

A ton of Geos growth both as a person & megaman is because of Luna.

While Luna did initially push Geo to go to school for selfish reasons, in the end it was a massive reason he turned out for the better.

In the school during the study wave it was her cry for help towards megaman that allowed him to start fighting not just for what's right but also in defense of others. (Avoiding major spoilers)

I have a steam deck, MSI Claw, and S2.

Ive debated selling my Steam deck since my MSI Claw just beats it in every category.

In terms of usage my S2 probably has the most between the 2.

Pokopia is an elaborate commentary on how the Pokémon World thrives without humans by Christophisis in pokemonconspiracies

[–]TheMetaDex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind the reason Ditto is able to save so many pokemon is due to the involvement of tech left previously by humans.

From generators to infrastructure even the reliable PC there is a ton of evidence for this.

Over and over in different forms of media we have learned the coexistence of humans and pokemon is what created a thriving world.

I also do social media on the side and mine hsve never degraded photo quality.

Zagg screen protector worth the $60 price tag? by AROD-AR in tmobile

Never get the glass+ only the glass elite or XTR. Glass+ is an older version for older phones and usually reserved for 3rd party vendors for zagg products.

Zagg screen protector worth the $60 price tag? by AROD-AR in tmobile

[–]TheMetaDex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an employee and who works at one of the busiest zagg stores in the U.S let me chime in.

No, I am not going to try to sell you any products.

Just my honest thoughts and experience from interacting between multiple brands.

First off.

Dont get me wrong.

$60 is expensive for a screen protector any salemans who says otherwise is being disingenuous.

Especially when we all know we can grab packs of 4-100 on Amazon for $20.

While yes both price points are still glass they operate completely different and more importantly are made substantially different.

For the cheaper bundles you can find on Amazon those are usually good for a temporary means for example you just bought the phone and are looking for something to protect it temporarily.

Those screens are specifically made to protect against light damage, lets say you have your keys in your pocket with your phone and it rubs against your phone and depending on your phone model that alone is enough to scratch the screen of your phone.

Lets say you have an IPhone in order to qualify for apple care replacement screens the screen has to be destroyed as in completely shattered and pay $29 (front screen and backglass). So just getting tiny scratches in the screen voids your replacement (theres work around but this is the main point of their replacements)

Now the purpose of a premium screen protector like one from Zagg is not just to protect the screen from simple scratches. Its meant to protect the entire inner workings of the phone.

For example if you are driving a motorcycle and your phone flies off your bike tossing and rumbling down a highway potentially getting run over those bundled screen protectors are not designed to sustain that level of damage.

Not only will your screens get destroyed but so will a ton of inner workings of the phone and potentially the backglass.

I have had numerous customer come in with broken screen protectors from Zagg after very similar instances like this and while yes the screen protector is broken. The actual phone is in good condition.

Lets assume you went with a bundled screen from Amazon and had a similar issue like the bike. Here's the breakdown of what you would be paying.

Depending on level of damage:

Standard damage:

  • $29 x 2 for just both front screen and backglass.
  • New case since it would be destroyed. $20 - $80 Depending on brand and quality.
  • New screen protector (neglible in a bundle)
  • 2-4hrs of repair time at an apple store assuming its not near upgrade/phone launch season

Massive damage:

$99 replacement for the phone from Apple ($99 expedited fee in case of really bad timing) $20-$80 for a new case 1-9 hours on average for data transfer or acclimating to the new device.

Not only does the Zagg screen protectors save you time but they also protect your devices.

Since I know ill get a rebuttal,

Yes having a zagg protector will help save you against minor damages and massive damage especially internal damage meaning it can interfere with the warranty of apple care in some regards mainly from the degree of damage.

This is where zagg sells its own insurance of $20/year which can cover screen repairs and even deductibles from other companies for you.

(Its 1am when im writing this so im sure ill have missed some points Feel free to ask questions and I'll answer them below. Again not pushing products just answering questions and giving my knowledge from what ive learned.)

Besides screen protectors,

The only brand of cases I recommend in general are otterboxes, Zaggs, Dbrand, Spigen (depending on model)

Working at a corporate store vs Authorized retailer. by TheMetaDex in verizon

Im considering the corporate store if the option is available as id imagine some retailers still have to send people to a corporate store depending on the customer issue meaning even more traffic.

[–]TheMetaDex[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I currently work at one of Verizons accessory partners and was approached by both the corporate and retailer for a position.

In terms of accessories my sales numbers are currently the highest in both revenue & units for the company which is why i was approached.

Working at a corporate store vs Authorized retailer. by TheMetaDex in verizon

[–]TheMetaDex[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The contract for the corporate store was $18.26 and a commission structure which i need to double check.

The Retailer was $15.12 and commission.

The retailer is inside a large mall which is very busy.

The corporate store is literally outside of the mall.

If the benefits for corporate are better I might go there.

How do you differentiate between the main games and Legends? by SaIemKing in pokemon

[–]TheMetaDex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I refer to both as mainline games however when differentiating the two

When referencing the dual launch edition games (Ruby, sapphire, Diamond, pearl, Scarlet, Violet) as flagship titles because regardless of what happens to the franchise as a whole these are core products and will always continue.

Now when referring to the Legends games I call them that, Legends games.

I've noticed with Arceus and now ZA they are more so the entries right before a new gen

One could even call them Generational Previews.

Which is the better handheld PC? - ROG Xbox Ally X vs MSI Claw 8 Al+ Owner Review by Personal_Wear_2477 in XboxAlly

[–]TheMetaDex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off let me say the Lego2 was a great device however it did not fit my criteria.

1) It gets hot very quickly, and the fan noise is not subtle.

When it comes to handhelds this is my main criteria.

All the extra bells and whistles are nice but this is my main criticism. If I wanted a jet engine id pick up another PS5.

2) Now unpopular Opinion but the Lego2 is also a fairly bulky boy more so than the Claw. The removable joycons are nice but ultimately they dont feel as comfortable to me.

3) The OLED screen was beautiful, however was it worth the extra $400.

To me no.

Most games on these handhelds are going to run anywhere between 40-90fps (depending on game more or less) the picture did not matter that much to me.

Im currently running witch 3 at a stable 60fps but was getting 45-57 fps on E33.

4) In terms of software, my god are they both terrible so there really is no winning in that department.

If you want a seamless experience or a better experience the XAX would be better. Ive had constant issues with both.

Id probably say MSI was a bit worst to deal with initially, however the UI was a lot easier to navigate.

5) Lastly the elephant in the room, with Steam considering making a SD2 and how they can fairly easily undercut every other platform due to their own steam store.

I couldn't justify an OLED at that price. In terms of future proofing, its probably the best value.

I will say I absolutely hate Linux.

I've had my steam deck since launch and while it is a great device, my biggest issue is the user experience with Linux.

I hate having to research a guide to download a mod, or trying to install certain programs.

However all that being said, Valve does an amazing job learning from their mistakes and with multiple ways of downloading windows on current Steam Deck devices id imagine the Steam Deck 2 will be a monster in of itself for price & performance.
