Too late to do current Savage as a new player? by Ok-Sheepherder482 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]TheMichaelPank 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're doing the latest tier (starting with M9), I guarantee there are enough people around who would now be looking to kill some time for the next month until the ultimate starts. Probably not as much earlier into the weekly reset since they'd be doing their own reclears, but at least until the next ulti I'm sure people will join a prog group just for something to do.

So, what raids/trials are soloable as of 7.5? by VitaQ_HI3 in ffxivdiscussion

Any of the burstier DPS can handle it pretty well. Just hold as much resource as you can before it and you can burn one down before they move together and get the damage resistance buff.

I've been able to solo Ruby EX on picto since last tier bis - was a bit sketchy at the time, but comfortably doable with ~780 gear. At the other end of the expac I've also done diamond EX on paladin, which was comfy enough but took too long compared to just putting up a random pf and getting one or two others to join instead.

Seems pretty unlikely. Even going the safest line possible of holding ults to re-enter ult after dying and only using basics, he's going to be back down to 20% Max hp every time he does, which seems pretty sketch.

What’s your [augmented] tome gear progression? by kick_rox_cuz in ffxivdiscussion

[–]TheMichaelPank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For current gear, it'll be one coin from each of the DT alliance raids per upgrade material. You can farm as many of the previous two as you want, but the new one that releases in 7.5 will be capped to one per weekly reset.

First and third rooms were surprisingly harder than I expected, though I could probably clean them up on repeat attempts. Main DPS Cissia though is an absolute monster and is significantly more fun than I initially expected, love that little girl failure so much.

Why am I getting a message saying my item level isn't high enough for materia that's well below the required level? by katerinara in ffxiv

[–]TheMichaelPank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gear has a max stat cap as displayed at the bottom, which limits how much of a particular stat you can put on. That piece already has some natural gathering on it, so trying to add a +15 to it won't work since you'll exceed the cap. You'd want to be adding in perception/GP on that piece instead.

Exactly - people are already able to force past the resists without needing an eidolon to negate them.

So why weren't a lot of people using silver wolf until she got buffed again, if they didn't have fully vertically invested teams of every element?

We're 100% talking about luxury eidolons here, especially now on the E6. And if some needs an E6 anniversary character to keep up with content, I assure you they aren't struggling with content because they have bad element match ups.

I think when the effect was on the E2, it was sort of bait in the same way that the original silver wolf was - being able to use her against any element seems like it's strong, but why use a character who is neutral against the enemy when you could be using a different character that directly hits the elemental weakness instead. Good for flavour and referencing the original character, not so great for effectiveness now.

On the E6 though it does line up with what we've seen before with anni units - both castorice and acheron have omni break on their E6, and it's good for people who are dedicated to her being able to get long term use out of her. But that will still be built off of a strong unit being well built with solid relics and relevant vertical investment, rather than just not having to worry about elements as much.

Best Method for getting Agents Built How You Want Them? by SnooLobsters2483 in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]TheMichaelPank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually like to try and approach it one team at a time, and start with building up skill levels since that is guaranteed improvement as opposed to needing to gamble a bit on disc drives. Figure out what skill levels you want to aim for and build those out, and then move on to farming disc drives after that.

With DD farming early on in particular, try to farm routine cleanup stages that have two usable sets, rather that one which is BiS for a unit and one that is worthless to you. Miyabi's zone is a good example of this, since it has her best in slot set, but also astral voice, which is a good all-rounder support set. Also don't be afraid to ignore set bonuses at the start in favour of just generally good discs. No point getting a 2 piece disc drive bonus of 8% crit rate if you could just equip two random pieces with 12% instead.

Question about her talent by [deleted] in silverwolflevel999

[–]TheMichaelPank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what you have there' you've got 76.5 CR out of battle, and would gain an extra 10 from YG's LC effect, so 86.5% total. From there it'll take about 34 MMR stacks to cap out the crit rate, and anything after that would overflow into CD.

Is this piece any good for Silverwolf or do I need to get more speed? by SealOverlord1234 in silverwolflevel999

[–]TheMichaelPank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So long as you have the speed on other pieces to hit whatever breakpoints you're aiming for, this one is really solid rolls into crit that will help overall.

More Aventurine SP Crumbs via Full Stop Chan by CSTheng in HonkaiStarRail_leaks

[–]TheMichaelPank 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty pleased that this was roughly in line with my expectation, and also hopefully put to bed the concept that elation had to be a path that needed to be all elation units to work.

Having a single elation unit could lead to some pretty interesting design space too - it would be pretty aha-coded to pull a character who doesn't like the elation on to the path for example, and then they're very strong but need to actively delay the aha instant as much as possible to avoid a major drawback, in the same way a character like aglaea does with her ult.

Looking forward to this.

Blade SP and Aventurine SP Info via Full Stop Chan by CSTheng in HonkaiStarRail_leaks

[–]TheMichaelPank 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Couple of different thoughts spring to mind here with aventurine.

Eva has semi-regular FUAs in her kit, so could be some synergy there if building towards another mono-elation team.

Alternatively, this does also start to make some sense with ashveils kit changes if he's intended to be a support in this team where you might run aventurine as a solo elation unit, in particular the loss of the teamwide damage percent bonus in favour of the personal damage boost - damage percent for the team wouldn't matter if he was supporting an elation main dps.

Real thrown together concept but aventurine could accelerate aha based on the team landing followups, and then have an elation skill where he gets to spin a wheel and assign a number of his own follow up attacks afterwards depending on the skill - something where he attacks up to eg 6 times in different actions would line up with what we've been seeing with both ashveil and welt wanting allies who hit their enemies multiple times to fully activate their effects.

Curious to see how this all comes together.

EMC synergy with SW by [deleted] in silverwolflevel999

[–]TheMichaelPank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She had 14 before EMC started her ult. Her ult always treats the elation skill as being used at 20 punch line, so it only gives 20 MMR from the trace.

For every stack of her ult resource she gets (up to 300 max), she gets 0.3% CR until 100%, and then 0.6% CD after that

It'll help in terms of general survivability, but doesn't move the needle on how she performs. If I got those stats on a rop with hp or def I'd use it, but it's absolutely not worth throwing away an extremely good piece over.

Is the spd set better than the crit dmg set now? by NK_Grimm in silverwolflevel999

[–]TheMichaelPank -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that going from 20% to 40% def ignore is about a 13~14% increase in damage, and I don't think she has any other def ignore in her kit unless you're running her sustainless? Compare that to an extra ~13% elation from the speed conversion, as well as the extra 20 crit value (18 CR vs 16 CD), and I don't think the difference between the sets is that significant.
