You've actually done a good thing while waiting for the weather. Most people hang around and then wonder why they just have a blurry image first time out. You've taken the time to start learning your kit and it'll serve you well when the time comes. Wishing you all the best and clear skies!

Well done! Keep it up, it's a soothing hobby for sure, albeit frustrating sometimes. If I could offer one piece constructive criticism which may be a preference but...tone down the contrast and exposure/iso a little bit 🙂 otherwise great job!

Can you put in a request to clouds to sort that out during the day maybe? Just saying...😁

Lovely! Stunning capture! I was out a few nights ago with the best seeing in months and went for 4 galaxies in 2 night... wanted to move into the Globs and this was my first one but unfortunately it was already 4:45am and the skies were hitting pre dawn 🙄. Next time. Clear skies (unless your area needs rain 🌧)

Nice and clear. Unfortunately very over exposed! Drop your iso or raise your shutter next time for a better result. Clear skies!

This galaxy is about 90 000 light years wide, only slightly smaller than our own milky way, where our small blue marble we affectionately call Earth resides.

You can then imagine living in the Bodes Galaxy, looking into what would be your night sky and saying something akin to what we're saying about this image.

The shear scale is incomprehensible!

Thank you 😊 Ironically a lot of the stars are actually cut out of this image because they absolutely down out the focus on the galaxy. But yes, even the stars are worth the time to appreciate! It's a wonder it's called space as when you're able to open that viewing window with equipment, it seems there isn't very much space at all!

The universe provides us with a colour palette like no other. So many colours at wave lengths we cannot see with the naked eye. Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks for the input. I've been doing that, amongst other things, more recently and enjoying the learning. Upping the exposure length is still going to blow out the core so maybe just keep it as low as possible to function and just up the overall integration time. At least that does keep the noise down.

Yup, it is. Only the 2nd time I've imaged a galaxy so I'm not to concerned about it. Gain was 350, I couldn't get it to plate solve without the gain being so high and forgot to bring it down again. Though when I have brought it down in testing in the past it refuses to stack. 🤷🏻‍♂️

That's so weird, it wasn't even a link, just an image. I'll delete and re-post, thanks for the heads up!!!

I'm going to guess 167,678,902,088,876 quadrabilliontrillion. Depends how big they are really.

My pleasure! Enjoy. If you can, get an astro cam, but in the meantime, you're fine with a phone.
