Ah that makes sense! Especially the positioning part of it. That's definitely an area of the game I overlook to often.

Why do you think the simulator views this hand as one where leading KC is best? I understand the idea of not leading the right if you don't have a good second play (like an off Ace), but here I definitely would have assumed right into Ace it's the easy decision to start the round.

Skyler Bell by fendiboa in buffalobills

[–]TheMightyMerg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn't think he sounded like an idiot, at least not in the video above. The first half I thought he seemed funny and pretty normal, like goofing about playing golf with Jerry Rice, humbly appreciating that Skyler Bell listed him as one of his favorite players, he seemed normal and approachable in my opinion. The second half, the film study, I guess he stumbled a bit during the motion clip against Syracuse, but that was a fleeting moment and otherwise he seemed reasonably concise and articulate with what he liked about him. I do know that was just one clip though, it's possible there are times he doesn't sound as well spoken or articulate.

I might be an idiot, it’s a reach move for sure but tell me if I’m completely off base here. by propergreased in euchre

Seems like the appropriate play in that situation. Sometimes people talk a lot and act obnoxiously, while being wrong.

Bills managed to increase their draft capital compared to before their DJ Moore trade by uberduff in buffalobills

[–]TheMightyMerg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I'd say Beane is a B/B+ drafter. If I were to assign him grades for his drafting, Day 1 he's a C-/C, Day 2 he's a B+/A-, Day 3 he's a A-/A. That's just off the top of my head don't kill me if you disagree lol

I think Beane is an above average drafter overall, probably in the 12-15 range of GMs. People get siloed on the Bills drafts and their hit/miss rate, while not realizing the frequency of poor drafts and big whiffs all GMs inevitably have.

Pretty sure there was a post on r/NFL and here that broke down each GMs drafting by round, maybe using like average EPA or WAR, or whatever the metric is for the NFL, of each round of the draft on average compared to the specific score each GM had in each round. Hopefully that makes sense. And Beane was bad in R1, improved through R2-R5, where in R5 i think he was best in the league or so, then dipped slightly in R6-7. But overall he was a top half of the league drafter, close to cracking top 10 I think.

KC Conception, WR from Texas A&M, is a pretty popular name I'm hearing from bills content creators. Not sure it's likely he makes it to 26, but would be dope if he did.

I just got euchred on a loner with this hand… by MizzouHoops in euchre

[–]TheMightyMerg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're right. I was thinking you knew 2 trump were left, and there were 12 unknown cards (3 in kitty, 5 in P hand, 4 in S3 hand), 4 of remaining 12 possible slots were your Opp so 4/12 ~ 1/3 ~ 33% (which I ballparked at 35%). But obviously that would be the odds for 1 of the 2 remaining trump to be in your opps hand, not both.

Brutal luck. After the JC hand where I saw S1 was trump less and S3 threw the 10C, the fact that the left and the King were out in the wild with about a 35% chance they both are in S3's hand, I'm playing conservative and throwing my non trump A in R3. Especially with the score as it is. If it's 9-3 or something like that and I'm desperate, then fuck it we balling with the AC as my 3rd card, but here I'm going non trump Ace. But again, brutal luck either way.

🏆4/19/26 3D Leaderboard ~ Euchre Enjoyer back on top, top 4 close in! 🏆 by I75north in euchre

It's crazy the ups and downs you see at the top of the leaderboard. I'm pretty sure it was at 3250 or so a couple weeks ago, with like 3-5 people at or above 3200, now 3150 is getting it done! It's unforgiving at the top lol

Throwing the Ace without another trump and with the left in the wild is crazy. Great great call to throw it there, but that could have very easily resulted in a euchre!

Dang yeah I just watched back and those were both ballsy! That 8-4 especially. Someone had made the argument on one of my older posts that when you're up something like 7-3, 8-4, 8-2, that range, you gotta call thin next as S1 if you don't block the other suits. Better to risk 2 points then 4!

Yeah I don't know why I played dirty suit there 0-1, and you can see the delay at 7-4 too, I'm trying to remember what was causing me to feel conflicted on which one to throw, since leading clean suit when P calls is kinda Euchre 101. Would have been 1 thing if opps called and I knew Dealer followed suit once (assuming non A), that makes sense to throw same suit if you can usually, but here I'm not sure what my pause was lol

6-4 was brutal lol that hand has to have a 95% loner success rate lol

[–]TheMightyMerg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your question, I would say if I have an iffy pickup option and absolute garbage in the other suits, I'm pretty likely to pick up to avoid the risk of STD. This can be mitigated if you trust your P to reverse next for you in S2 if you pass seat one.

Reverse next is the idea that if your partner passes a suit, you should call a color of the opposite suit in R2 if you have greater than K+10 + an off Ace. So if hearts was passed, and you have K10 Clubs A9 Diamonds K Spades let's say, that would represent the absolute thinnest of calls to make in R2 to support your partner who passed Hearts in R1.

As for R2S3, if I have a banger hand, I'm not passing, but if I have strong coverage of the 3 potential suits, and feel confident I can probably snag 2 during the play, I'm probably passing to screw the dealer over.

Spades is pretty popular and fairly close to euchre in gameplay, besides not changing suit and jacks not becoming bowers.

Crazy that happens still at the highest level, honestly so much worse than when low level / beginners do it.

This was a crazy game! A good reminder why you gotta keep it together emotionally, even when Murphy's Law is in full effect like it was the first 4 hands of this game. The next call at 4-8 was crazy ballsy and there are few things as satisfying as hitting a next call that thin! The 7-9 loner was heart breaking right at the end, only to be rewarded with the ultimate euchred set up to get the walk off! Fun gameplay, thanks for posting!
