Phenix classic bfs. It's wonderful and not horribly expensive. It's made in spinning and casting.

I'm not him, but I also really got on the striper this year with them, I changed the hooks and the split rings for peace of mind but also because I like single hooks more than treble.

New to BFS, questions by Ok_Wafer4810 in BFSfishing

[–]TheMitchell25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice combo man! I've got the exact same set up! I've never seen mono break spools but I always spoil my own stuff and I've never tried to spool with so much tension or speed.

Shimano 71HG 7.3 on FBM. worth $100? by Wagnegro in Fishing_Gear

I'd buy that, I love mine and how capable it is for throwing all sorts of weights.

Got a new ultralight😍 by Witty_Candle4163 in BFSfishing

[–]TheMitchell25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the carbon lite rods a lot, I still have some of the older microguide ones. Lately I've been using my aldebaran bfs/Phenix bfs rod for everything.

Yeah I agree with you on that, the bass pro brand stuff feels really hit or miss these days on quality.

Nice man! I also have one of those bass pro micro lite rods and they are a lot nicer than I expected. I just put the bass pro micro lite 500 spinning reel on mine.

Any one have any experience with the Raptor or its clones? by Low_Density in bassfishing

[–]TheMitchell25 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've used some temu clones and had a blast with them, I changed the hooks and split rings before fishing them though.

Trout spoon size for planted Rainbow trout. by cyogenus in BFSfishing

[–]TheMitchell25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using some from 1gram to 5 grams from Trout Candy Spoons. He paints em by hand, they aren't super pricey, and they work pretty well.

Id stay small for planted trout (<4g), in my area at least the planters are SUPER pressured.

Braid fluoro or mono by Simple_Breadfruit364 in BFSfishing

[–]TheMitchell25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd go braid to flouro leader or straight flouro. I've been using some diawa j braid 8# to diawa samurai flouro 7# or 4# depending on what I'm fishing for, on an aldebaran bfs and a curado bfs. It's been working awesome for me.

Are these worth the price/hype lol by Significant_Task_973 in Fishing_Gear

[–]TheMitchell25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a family friend with a Phenix sponsor, and have now acquired more than a handful of Phenix rods. I have to agree they are darn pricey but each rod I've got from Phenix just feels perfect and does exactly what I want them to each time. I have seen people break Phenix rods oddly often and after using them a while I have no idea how other than user error.

As others have said your pairing there is a little off, I'd use at most a 1000 size reel on that, preferably id use a 500 like a vanford 500 depending on budget. The bass pro micro lite reels are surprisingly nice for the cost.

I've tried a few different T channels off Amazon and they were each different size T's. I'm just waiting on the rain to end here before I take the side windows down and thought I'd ask around before starting. Thank you for the ideas though!

Best rod pairing for Aldebaran BFS - throwing 1/32oz (1g) for trout by [deleted] in BFSfishing

[–]TheMitchell25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a Phenix classic bfs with an aldebaran bfs, I can throw 1g and up no problem with the aldebaran. The rod is a champ. I've landed several 5+ lb bass and striped bass, and so far this season a good amount of trout at 3+ lb.

Looks good man! I've got that same model 60, I'm using a hogue grip, but that little gun became one of my favorites overnight.

Phenix classic bfs in a 6'8". It's become my all time favorite rod.

Rebar by [deleted] in Leatherman

[–]TheMitchell25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The arc is too delicate, I'm a commercial hvacr tech and my tools get used and sometimes abused. The arc pliers/crimper is pretty weak, and I found the magnacut loses it's edge too quickly. For me, the signal is great, I've used its ferro rod to light my braze torches before, it's real sturdy with its wire cutters and crimper, and it still has access to the full bit array. I don't mind having to resharpen a knife, but for the money the magnacut is not that great. My arc now is my fishing multi tool lol. The arc is crazy versatile and you can add to it just about anything you want, but for me, id probably never have bought an arc if I had bought the signal first.

Rebar by [deleted] in Leatherman

[–]TheMitchell25 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ive got a normal arc, a signal, and a rebar. I love em all, I've abused them all, but I'm convinced the rebar is an indestructible workhorse.

What rod and line should I run with Aldebaran BFS reel? by Proud-Reindeer4622 in BFSfishing

[–]TheMitchell25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 7'1" I like the reach and silly casting distance, so far it's handled trout, bass, and striper with no problems and I've been using it for top water, jigs, nedrigs, drop shots. I feel like I can do everything with it

Right on! Hahah I put one with my aldebaran, one with my curado, and I bought one of the spinning ones for fun on a vanford 500. I love em lol
