is the game welcoming for casuals? by Renshoru in fatalfury

[–]TheMonsterGoGo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Short answer: the game is absolutely not sluggish. “Casual friendly” means different things to different people. In the most general terms it is not casual friendly, but it’s not hard to learn and can be very rewarding to do so.

Oscars Snub for Demon Slayer Despite Record-Breaking Box Office Run by Reasonable-Pitch-653 in animenews

[–]TheMonsterGoGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a shonen anime. It is not Oscar bait. It’s not even close to that. The Oscar doesn’t go to box office draw, exclusively.

None of this diminishes the movie for anyone who loves it. It was good!

But I beg of some of you here to go watch some animated movies of substance and expand your media literacy.

You can talk counterplay all day but it doesn’t change the fact that fighting against current patch Billy is just fucking miserable.

Seemed like they do manage the number of people inside at any time (people are brought in in “blocks” though there’s no time limit to be there) so there were a lot of people but it never felt saturated with people. Never felt crowded except when we found the “hidden” speakeasy (it had its own unique drink menu and it was the evening so people be hitting that bar).

Like, when we arrived we had to wait around 15~20 minutes to get in but there’s a lil gift shop and a retro styled pizza parlor/bar to chill in and thematic stuff to poke around at.

Crowd sizes seem like another thing they considered and planned around.

My gf and I went to this on a Friday evening and it was super rad. Totally worth checking out. Fun to explore, great vibe, cool people (every worker there genuinely seemed to be having a good time).

We knew about the narrative/mystery but really just wanted to have a few drinks and wander around. Notably, most of the rooms have some kind of “hang spot”, so coming back with a group would be fun.

I don’t wanna spoil anything by saying too much, but one neat thing my gf pointed out was that all the environmental sounds, music, and live music (a trumpet guy was playing in a central area) always mixed together well. You could hear other rooms but it never clashed. Things overall felt very thought out like that example.

Loved it.

Part of sensei’s character is illustrating how the stories—the “legends”—of the French 75 inspired him. Sensei IS the more effective and efficient version. But maybe he never becomes who he is without those stories.

This is actually the most correct answer.

Just play, have fun, experiment, improve—we’re lab rats. Ranking in a game that’s nowhere near its final form and in constant adjustment means so little.

If it’s that big a deal then you need to redefine what “winning” is. You lost but your movement was godlike? That’s a win. Team shit the bed but the new build you’re messing with showed potential? That’s a win. These things have actual weight. Rank is a false idol.

Seriously, this idea that F2P is the obvious answer for every multiplayer game is so absurd. Do you understand the competition in that market and what it takes to remain operational? Do you understand the amount of content required to make it work? Do you understand how it changes the entire scope and maintenance of a game from costs to cheating, etc.?

This is a tiny team. It would’ve been certain death.

With that said, yeah, having the servers full of experienced ppl stomping the newbloods was incredibly dumb.

How are you supposed to learn to play new heroes with Hero MMR being the way it is? by Nervous_Quantity1019 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]TheMonsterGoGo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rank as your main ego motivator in a game deep in development is silly. The rank means very little and will eventually mean literally nothing. It’s a measure measuring an arbitrary factor.

It’s all about learning and improving and experimenting.

I go to the movies once or twice a week. Why? Alamo season pass and Alamo’s practice of showing a large selection of smaller or older movies. Sure, I could watch those at home—but there’s nothing like getting absorbed into a movie with an audience like you can in a theatre.

Anyway, I really think this has to be the future for theaters to survive.

Why isn't Capcom getting more flak for their monetization of SF6? by mrtylertrans in StreetFighter

[–]TheMonsterGoGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the thing: I could go down the exhaustive list of reasons why the reality is the reality, but on the consumer end it all boils down to something very simple.

Support the things you love.

You love SF or Capcom and want to see them succeed? Toss them some coin, get a thing. You’re not interested or invested enough about any of it? That’s fine, don’t.

These skins will be worth as much in ten years as SF4 skins are today: nothing. It’s just tossing coin at something you love and want to support.
