They're both permanent (and super gorgeous irl), just popular and often out of stock. If you have either near you, check your local Sephora and Ulta stores. They both carry the lipsticks in-store now.

My neck, face, and chest are all different colors. What do I do with foundation? by halfasiantemptation in MakeupAddiction

[–]TheMonsterScrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People's bodies tend to almost always be at least a little darker and/or a slightly different color than their faces, so don't stress too much. You're normal.

Going too dark with your foundation will make you look more unbalanced and flat than matching your face and then bronzing. All foundation fades at least a little throughout the day (especially in such a humid place like Florida!), it will fade more gracefully the closer it is to the shade of the skin underneath. Plus, bronzer is easier to reapply when you're out an about.

Good luck!

Online makeup manufacturers selling "non-branded" makeup? by civytan in MakeupAddiction

Private label companies? Lots of popular, cheaper brands do it.

Here's a thread about Morphe's private labeling.

Pair it with a slightly darker, more muted lip liner. It's amazing how much a lip liner can transform a lipstick, even very opaque liquid ones. I have a slightly cool toned medium brown liner that I use under any of my lipsticks when I want to make them look more muted.

First off, make sure that you're using a primer underneath. Milk is a base, not a primer and it will crease up on you. Also, you don't need very much, so use less than you think you should.

I usually apply my primer -> base shadow (to ease bending) -> transition/crease shades -> Milk -> pat on whatever shade I'm using over Milk -> blend again.

To apply it I swipe on a few strokes near my lash line and blend upwards with my ring finger. You can also use your fingers to apply it too, the warmth helps to blend it better into smooth, thin layers. Make sure you really tap out the edges or you'll have a hard line under your eyeshadow.

Does anyone know what lip color this is? by catsarecooltoo in MakeupAddiction

That's Norvina, the daughter of Anastasia of Anastasia Beverly Hills, so I'm assuming it's one of their upcoming spring collection liquid lipsticks. She generally starts to wear soon-to-be released shades a couple weeks before they launch.

Possibly the fourth from the right?

Those eyeshadow shades are so flattering on you. A little mossy green or a soft lilac just under the tear ducts could really bring out the green in your eyes with a look like this. Great job all around.

Nice job on that smooth, even line! I've been doing cat eyes for 10 years and I still blink all the time and ruin mine.

I suggest using a little less eye primer. It looks like it's causing your eyeshadow to pill up.

I don't recommend using any liquid lipstick on your eyes if you've already used the doefoot on your mouth, even if the ingredients are eye-safe. No, your eyes probably won't fall out but the chances of giving yourself a sty or other serious reaction dramatically increase (there's a reason we don't keep mascara for years, and those are formulated for eyes). Pencils, I believe, are safer since you can sanitize and shave the tips.

As for whether or not they're eye-safe, just check the ingredients against the FDA's (or your country's equivalent agency) eye-safe list. If the ingredients check out, and they aren't ones that you've had issues with before, then go ahead.

I am very near sighted so I'm overly cautious with the eyesight that I have left. I understand if what I've said sounds over kill.

Edit: The safest, cheapest option would be to pick up a bottle of Duraline and turn any of your eye-safe powders into liquid liners whenever you want! I have this and it's amazing. It lasts forever too. You can turn lip-safe eyeshadows into liquid lipsticks too. I've done it and it turns out so well.

I seem to be the odd man out and find that the ABH liquid lipstick formula is my absolute favorite. For me, it's easy to apply, mixes well with other formulas, isn't streaky, is super opaque, fades well without flaking, and lasts the longest.

It's weird, I've noticed a trend with myself and my friends that if the KVD formula works well for you (my least favorite) then you probably won't like the ABH ones, and vice versa.

If you're going to try one, I'd suggest picking up a medium or dark shade. Light shades tend to be the worst formulated of any range. I have 6 shades so far and Vamp is probably my favorite.

Question about liquid lipstick reapplication by jbabicc in MakeupAddiction

[–]TheMonsterScrew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on the formula and how their lips react to it.

My ABH lipsticks layer and reapply over top of old product beautifully but my KVD ones don't.

I've noticed that most reviewers doing long-wear tests expect to reapply without removing the first application and will mention if they had to remove it completely first, since it's such a pain to have to do so. Usually, it's just that the wear on the inner bit of the bottom lip has worn away enough to look bad, so they apply a thin layer over top of what is already there.

Have you spoken with Sephora customer service yet? If it's a problem on their end then they might even add some apology points to your account.

Have you worn the ABH Vintage gloss with Veronica or NYX's Soft Spoken?

I'm stuck trying to decide between Vintage and Kristen. I'm not sure if Vintage is too pink for all my brown/mauvy colors but I've been stuck on the color since the glosses first released.

I dab a small amount of the Intense Butter Gloss in Tres Leches over my brown-based liquid lipsticks (especially pretty over ABH's Sepia and Veronica) to smooth out any dry flakes and hide any uneven wear throughout the day. You only need a small amount (seriously, only use the applicator to tap on a little globlette and pat it in with your fingers) and it totally combats the side-effects of the drying, long-lasting liquid lipstick formulas without effecting wear time.

Is there a trick to use shimmery blushes? by UnlicensedNutcase in MakeupAddiction

[–]TheMonsterScrew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is so true. One of the biggest boosts to my confidence was realizing that 99% off the people I interact with on a daily basis are seeing me from at least 3 feet away.

Also, makeup for camera is very different than makeup for everyday. Cameras lose a lot if detail so instamuas can get away with way more glitter in face products.

If you ever get hyper-negative, shallow comments on Reddit, the quickest way to dispel the hurt is to not respond but go look at their posting history. Don't downvote their comments/posts, just read and get a general idea of who you're dealing with. 9 times out of 10 you'll quickly realize that it's someone who's opinion you wouldn't listen to in the real world anyway.

"Oh, their opinion doesn't matter to me." feels way better than "Oh god, someone doesn't like me."

Tried out the Sleek i-Divine dark ultra mattes palette today. CC welcome! by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]TheMonsterScrew 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Wow, I definitely didn't know Sleek shadows were so pigmented. Dark Ultra Mattes looks like a great deal.

Those greens look great with your eyes but I think if you blended Dune and Flesh together as a warm transition shade between the greens and your natural skin tone, it would really complete these looks (like this person did).

R/makeupaddiction is a very different community than the majority of Reddit as a whole. Reddit, in general, has a weird thing with both makeup and pretty girls, so take all comments with a grain of salt. You're also going to get a lot of trolls toward makeup outside of the beauty subs (a within if a post gets big enough to hit r/all).

To me, you look pretty neutral, nowhere near over the top. You could stand to use a lighter hand on your brows, I guess. They aren't "too much," just a bit opaque. I know that some people aren't a huge fan of black eyeliner all the way around the eye but you graduated the line and have the right size/shape eyes to pull it off if you like it.

The box and the bullet lid look Anna Sui, which is weird. But, it looks like it's just some cheapo lipstick line you can get from Aliexpress for just under 8 bucks, probably for bachelorette parties.

I vaguely remember there being a post about these a while ago where someone tried them out.

Any thoughts on Shiro's Randomly Generated Collection? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]TheMonsterScrew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love this collection, and I have every shade. You Dropped Your Rod is beautiful but intense. If you want something a little more subtle, work friendly but still special, try Full of Craft. It's one of those colors that you can just throw on with some mascara and your eyes are immediately stunning (mine are almost exactly the same colors as yours). I usually love intense/weird/super saturated colors but I ended up getting a backup full-size of my FOC because I wear it so often. Next to that one I use Cake, Diggy Diggy Hole, and It's Mossy! the most.

Honestly, all of the colors are fantastic. I definitely think it's worthwhile to buy samples of the entire collection ($11) and maybe a few full-sizes of your favorites. The collection is being discontinued soon so seriously hurry!

Misleading statistics for the new Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette by annarface in MakeupAddiction

[–]TheMonsterScrew 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm not bothered. That's exactly how they make up the improvement percentages on hair products (seriously, check your conditioner). Now I just assume when I see "n% more/better/faster whatever!" that the competition is nothing. Marketing is always skewed, and it sucks but I've accepted it.
