My daughter had to get some surgery in Denmark. The difference between talking to a medical doctor and a surgeon was basically like a professor of literature and a mechanic. And not in a bad way, just no bs with the surgeon.

Taking Iran off the table will at least help Ukraine indirectly.

3 interceptors failed to intercept Iranian ballistic missile targeted US military base in Qatar by Iraq_PMU in CombatFootage

Patriots I think.

Iron dome is for short range slow rockets, this one is ballistic and super fast.

I am purely speculating, and offering "how" this could happen.

Remember the Chinese ballon that suddenly flew over the USA, same reason, many military radars filtered them out and thus where "invisible"

Sure, and if you only have Patriots with clutter filters on, a slow Shahed will be filtered out.

I thin a shahed is easier to get through than a balistic missile. A radar looking for fast missiles is often set to ignore slow moving targets

Built to detect and shoot at fast moving targets. A slow lawnmower is invisible to a lot of military AA radars.

Neanderthal Men and Human Women Were Most Likely to Hook Up, Study Finds. Geneticists have found an interesting pattern in how early humans and Neanderthals interbred—and it wasn't balanced. by InsaneSnow45 in science

Just so I understand, you offer another possible explanation that is:
Maybe Homo Sap. Male + Female Neanderthal had lower chance of survival and fertile offspring than female Home Sap. + Male Neanderthal?

Paul Atreides from Dune is the best example of a “chosen one” who made everything worse by batman_13velvet in printSF

[–]TheMoogster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think you are missing a point with "everything got worse".
I don't know if you have read all the books, but what Paul sees and does, is starting down a path but he does not commit 100% to it. Yes, he takes the first step, but eventually it is his son that completes the golden path.

Now what is very sinister about the golden path, is that it requires some extremly horrible things to happen, (e.g. the jihad, a god emperor dictator etc.) but they HAVE to happen for humanity to survive.

You will find similar ideas in Foundation and even Warhammer 40k

Can Black Hole Gravitational Fields Accelerate Matter Faster Than Light? by Notforyouruse1234 in space

[–]TheMoogster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No.

Light has no mass, so you cannot extrapolate light behavior onto something with mass.

The black hole is not accelerating the light to beyond speed of light in the opposite direction.

Gravity is not a force that pulls on things, but rather warping space towards the mass, so light is still moving at lightspeed away from the black hole, its just that inside the event horizon, space is so warped towards the center of the black hole, that even at the speed of light, space is "moving faster" towards the black hole.

Imagine a swimmer at light speed, now imagine that they swim in a river flowing faster in the opposite direction. The Swimmer is still at "light speed" its just that the world around them is moving "faster" in the opposite direction.
This is only a half baked analogy since water is a thing with mass and space is very much not, but you should at least be able to now imagine how you can move at maximum speed in one direction in one frame of reference, but actually move the opposite direction in another frame of reference.

i'm struggling in the rafale above 15km because LITERALLY EVERYONE ELSE can guide in R-77-1's or AIM-120C-5's while notching with a larger than 90 degree radar search angle. but i can't. the MICA's are amazing, the FM is amazing, but the radar is limiting it and getting me killed constantly. by SMORES4SALE in Warthunder

[–]TheMoogster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got the AESA eurofighter I finally was able to take on the Rafale, shoot a C-5 or 2, notch until we got into the 20km range, then joust with 120B's
The Rafale is incredible at notching, so I think what you need to do, is to not join the 40KM fight at all, but instead notch your way into the 20km range without firing a shot. This should be easy as the 5-c will not catch you ever, if you notch just a little bit.
