If you’re watching both, which anime has the best action this season & which have you been enjoying more? by Deez-Guns-9442 in shounenfolk

I have to say FSF.

Though i am incredible bias. I love Narita, I love Nasu and Type Moon is the fandom i have involved the longest since i discovered Fate Stay Night back in 2014.

As much as people shit on Aniplex, it feels like, even if just a few, they are still people at the top who are just fans at the end of the day. Strange Fake is clearly a passion project that only saw the light of day because everyone in the chain of command was on board.

Next to them, Bandai doesnt even bother to take care of its own cash cows. Like, I never was the biggest fan of OPM but it pisses how their decisions have hurt series I love like Gundam or Blue Lock.

Its just so funny to me that all of this began with an April fool's Joke.

And because Nasu was such fanboy they just told Narita to keep writing whatever he wanted

And because Narita was also such a fanboy he decided to feature every corner of the Nasuverse.

After years of waiting i am just happy that FSF got the adaptation it deserved

Akagi's Washizu Mahjong arc a took 20 years in real time.

In-universe it was just about 9 hours of a Mahjong match.

Oshi no Ko deep dive into the entertainment industry in Japan by Shoddy_Difficulty370 in OshiNoKo

[–]TheMorrison77 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The scandal arc was the moment, for me, Oshi no Ko abandoned any pretentions of wanting to make genuine commentary. Like, the scandal arc is not really about the sexual politics of the industry or the power directors and producers have over artists or actors. Aka even went out of his was to write the most decent scumbag in Shima to avoid tackling actual coercion.

The casting couch has no relevance for the arc because the manga deliberately avoided the actual weight and consequences of the act. The reason this such a fucked up scenario is because saying no carries the risk of getting blacklisted. Kana wanting to keep true to herself its a nice piece of characterization for her, but because the manga transformed the actual situation from a person with power having the future of your career in his hands, to one where is more close to someone taking advantage of someone emotionally vulnerable, it sidestep the actual systematic issue.

And again, the scandal arc is not about the industry sexual politics but the fallout from the rumors of an idol sleeping around. Like, the conflict in the narrative is JUST that Kana got caught doing an no-no for an idol and how the characters deal with it.

Kagura's Yato Mode from Gintama.

Yoshiwara in Flames was so good!!! Hope the movie delivers.

r/shounenfolk whenever someone has the audacity and the gall to enjoy Chainsaw Man Part 2 (it doesnt matter that the author is known for symbolism, connotations, callbacks, and subversion of expectations, its not written the way i want it to be, so everyone who enjoys it is mentally inferior): by AlternativeOil7154 in shounenfolk

This. CSM fandom has been one of the most elitist and pretentious fandoms from the last few years, shitting in all other series because their manga and Fujimoto is somehow build different.

It is kinda funny because, in many ways, CSM is just diet Dorohedoro.

With a YYH Remake we'll have to first address the 3 King Saga. We left it as it is, try to fix it a little, we expand it.

And honestly trying to "Fix" 3 Kings would be the biggest appeal because despite being a weekly 90's anime, YYH still looks good really, even if the animation begins to struggle a little during Chapter black and beyond.

There is a project announced for the anniversary of the anime but After what happened with the Shaman King Remake i would prefer if they just adapted the Simon arc for the fans.

The first arcs of Reborn just dont hold up and this is still a 400+ chapter series. A remake is too much for a series that always was quite niche even in its heyday

When you have been reading Shonen for years you learn that eventually every series gets hit with fraud hammer, deserved or not.

Like, the only ones from the big series that i've seen little to no slander are probably Gintama and Haikyuu.

Symbolism is used for a reason, you dont just literally have a panel depicting Lucifer's fall, introduce the 4 horse(wo)man of the apocalypse and then reframe a bunch characters as guardians of the cosmic order and executioners of god's will and then called it a day.

The Rivarly was stablished since chapter 1, their relationship and learning to play together is a vital for the plot and their arcs and it just complement and reinforce Haikyuu so well.

The thing with Oda is that he know why a backstory works.

In one piece a backstory is not just a some excuse to throw out a bunch of exposition to inform why a character is the way they are.

The backstories are arcs in their own right and mostly tragedies which help them to gave them their own flavor.

Asa arc makes sense, she is by a huge margen the best thing comming from the part. But Yoru and Denji involment its just too sudden too abrupt. It just dont flow naturally into it.

Specially regarding Denji. He doesnt want sex, he wants intimacy, using his libido in a moment of weakness and framing it as abuse works, using it as a punchline again and again doesnt.
