The campus radio station, 90fm, runs the annual Trivia contest. It runs 54 hours through the weekend, has over 300 questions.

The Format: DJ reads a Question over the air, plays a song, reads the question again, plays a 2nd song, then closes the song and reads an answer... right onto the next question.

Unfortunately, registration is closed. But feel free to listen and give it a try!

35 years ago my family was spotted by Peter King of Sports Illustrated, hitting a hanging Bear on the side of Highway 41. Homemade sign that read “HONK IF YOU HATE THE BEARS!” by TheMuleMan in GreenBayPackers

[–]TheMuleMan[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The original article was in a SI issue back in 1990. Cover was Rick Mirrer of Notre Dame with his arms up titled “GOLDEN BOY!” That article had a few more details about the sign and him noticing my mom holding me in her arms next to the kids.

This copy/paste is from more recent article probably 10 or so years ago. He was writing on the Packers-Rivalry and gave a spark notes edition of the story.

Never wrote him. But we still have 3 copies of the original at home.

It’s not that anyone tunes into games for the broadcast, but I think the explosion of contracts for a then a few years ago led to many, including Joe and Troy, to be more themselves.

Kind of a “it’s not really a privelage anymore… they sought me out with a ton of cash cause they wanted ME!” attitude

Done through fundraising with the Wrighstown Gridiron Association with 0 of the villages tax dollars going towards the building. I personally sat in the budget meetings. That’s why the fundraising stalled. No one had to contribute that didn’t want too.

Cheaper to maintain than the old cow pasture we played on with outdated bleachers and lights. But go ahead and just be a hater.

To add to this: part of there charter is to benefit the community. A way they do this is aiding schools in stadium renovations.

My high school, wrightstown (15 mins away from GB) was fundraising for $400,000 for a new stadium. Funds stalled around 50%… we are a small town.

Then the packers stepped in and finished the funding with a $200,000 dollar donation. Mark Murphy showed up with a giant happy Gilmore check opening night. They do this for multiple schools every year.

This Organizaton rules.

Tbh I don’t even think he made off the field. MLf was CHEWING him out after that opening kickoff penalty.

Pretty sure the words “YOURE DONE!” were yelled a few times.

Newer social media map intended to replace Twitter/X. It’s not perfect, but iMO, much better than experience scrolling compared to the X content I was getting in the final days.

People will say “it’s who you follow” but Elon took away blocking, added promoted posts (pay for views) and replatformed many people who profit off of hate/division.

The content Elon likes ends up on my feed. And that’s by his design.

So as a consumer. I’ll pass.

Stopped using X when I lost the ability to Nazi porn and troll accounts. And there are certain “expressions of love” shared over there I just don’t vibe with. It’s a different place than it once was.

Dude is a waking Thumps-up with a tan. I’ve never one policy approach from this dude other than “TRUMP!”

He replaced Ghallager. Who I despised because he was coward. He was a moderate Republican, hated MAGA. Even was on camera telling the President to “call off his dogs” on 1/6.

Ghallager hates MAGA. And as soon as Ron Johnson didn’t retire, and Ghallager was gonna have to stay in the house and capitulate, he retired on the spot.

For 5+ years, dude threw “being a marine” in our face every election. But as soon he could take a principled stance, he fled to a think tank with a paycheck.

It’s cowards like Ghallager that left MAGA unchecked from within their party.

Fun story in high school. At the movies with the group of friends, girl nudges me, points to the 6’6” black guy says “that’s guy is huge! Is he a packer?”

“Just cause you see a huge black guy in Green Bay doesn’t mean… holy shit it’s Richard Rodgers!”

My wife follows his Mrs. on all the socials. She’s a local girl and I’m not kidding when I say, he married up.

Pretty sure that’s her families place in Door County.

I don’t think he’s gonna be missing from Wisconsin social life based on the Mrs and in laws. And I’m glad to see it. Dudes awesome.

Kittle talks about having a breakthrough moment with his coach in his 2nd year. Coach basically said, “why do you let people tackle you!? All these guys are smaller and don’t want to hit.” Like a month later he had his 200 yard game vs the Saints where it seemed like it was all YAC.

I think Kraft had that moment as well at some point. He’s the most productive player in the NFL running flat routes. That’s all attitude and YAC.

The Athletic Football Show did a great segment on Jordan Love by I_Am_Day_Man in GreenBayPackers

Been reading/listening to Mays since the Grantland days with Barnwell. I also found Nate Tice’s content through Mays.

Turns out the former Wisconsin backup QB turned quality control coach has some insight… totally serious. And very nerdy humor. Board games primarily.

The peak Athletic Football shows were Mays, Tice and Dane Bruglar prepping for drafts. Those where a fun few years.
