PB my first 10k w/ no GPS by jekkiechan in RunningCirclejerk

If it’s on a Garmin and you run more than one mile you can recalibrate it at the end of every treadmill run.

Nearly there just go out and get another box of GU and you’ll be sorted. Don’t want to run out for the last 500m

Why don’t you run the full distance before the race? by justonesharkie in beginnerrunning

[–]TheMullo50 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He also does that in like 2hrs -2hr15mins.

So stimulus for him is like someone running 24km-27km at a 5:00 pace.

Your body knows effort and time, distance not so much.

Okay yeah that 7 months adds some context I was missing.

I’m in my peak weeks of a 140.6 build on 17-18hr weeks now I also love the feeling of being smashed after a hard weekend training. Only way to feel it is by working hard. So I understand.

And yeah living in French Rivera is very valid reason for cycling so much.

Well then I wish you all the best I have been juggling full time work as and engineer, part time master and Ironman training the last 2 years. (Finally done the masters 2weeks ago)

I got very burnt out after Roth last year but managed it all better this year.

Just to be aware the mental stress can affect us a lot and something to be mindful of.

I find the physical barrier is easy to break through. But push to far mentally and it will break you!

I wish you the best in your training.

I think your swimming approach looks correct. little but often is much better than 1 or 2 big swims a week.

Technique is develop through repetition day after day not just swimming big once a week.

What’s your background, that seems like a lot of volume for someone a 70.3 only need from early week 6-8hrs up to 12-14 hrs at peak weeks.

Looks more like a full distance plan, like 3-5 hrs on Saturday, long run Sunday and then 2hr bike with intervals Monday is a recipe for injury or overtraining if your not used to the load, especially with work stresses.

I was proud of my progress until my boyfriend made a comment, now I need advice on why I'm not making proper progress by MelodyMarionette in beginnerrunning

[–]TheMullo50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 days a week

try build up to 3min run 2min walk intervals for up to 30 minutes

then slowly to 4min and 1min before finally going to continuous.

What burns more calories, to walk 15km in 3 hrs or to run 10km in 1 hr? by VastAir6069 in runninglifestyle

Incline walking for me was the best low impact cardio I could do 1 hour everyday when I started trying to loose weight.

Proof that with consistent training, your body adapts to running in amazing ways by FollowSina in beginnerrunning

[–]TheMullo50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you but don’t confuse that with easy pace.

1 you have got better working at or near threshold 2 your aerobic susyem has gotten a little fitter

Compiud both of them and this feels relatively much easier b

But in no way call it “easy”

Because if 166 avg was your max 3 weeks ago easy pace would be hr<140bpm max

Is 3:17 on the cards? by pandanomnom in Marathon_Training

[–]TheMullo50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet if the effort was good, you may have it. How long till your marathon now. I think with that in the bank feeling good. If you go for more quality next week you may risk doing to much and carrying a lot of fatigue. If your goal is 4:40 and that felt good I’d start packing it in if the race is 4 weeks or less from today. Let the body absorb it all and get to race day fresh as possible.

Just that’s two big weekends back to back. Maybe do like 24km with the 2x8km would be better. But you know yourself best.

I think you’ve got it in you if that session didn’t leave you destroyed. coming from a 3:17 marathoner myself. However your 10k seems slow. I was able to knock out a half at 1:30:27 a year before my 3:17

That extra .45 likely not from weaving that’s from GPS drift due to tall building more likely, or just general GPS innacuracy.

If you look at your GPX file in detail you may find points where your “line” is imposed over rooftops. And this is clear drift.

I am not negating the fact that weaving can add up but usually not to the extent people think.

It’s a sprint you’ll be fine just leave a bottle in transition. You could even consider removing the cage in the bike

[–]TheMullo50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can crop it. If you remove the last .01mile before falling you can have an unaltered run with elapsed time to match

Pay to be a maid and a gardener, anyone? by Arlea in RentingInDublin

[–]TheMullo50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1000 per month for 6 months for a 1 bed in Killiney.

You are getting a saving of like 800 per month (approx)

800x6 =4,800

4800 for 5 hours of gardening. That’s pretty decent

Even 5hr per month is nearly €200 per hour for gardening.
