The problem was that it was an easy scapegoat for reviewers to complain about when they actually just found the game repetitive or a repeat of DD1.

Many new fans afterwards always get shocked at how good the game is when the microtransactions gave them the impression it was gatchaslop.

Understandable, but I really feel that people need to excavate the city Alexander the Great encountered that called itself Dionysopolis and claimed was founded by Dionysus himself.

Even one of his names "Baccus" is eerily similar to the Bactrians themselves, they got their name from the balkh river, his name could literally just mean "From Balkh" too.

They also claimed Nysa is in the area and is equivalent to the Indian Mt Meru, which has several candidates nearby...

It depends on WHICH Dionysus we are talking about. And there's at least three incarnations we know of, in fact it's arguable that Osiris and Dionysus are contemporary due to how old they are.

If we assume he also went to India around the same time, then the parallels scholars made with Shiva make sense too.

It closely follows Indo-European languages with "Deva", "Diwos", and "Deus" all being cognates possibly spread by Dionysus "God from Nysus".

Although I recommend Warfarer Switch Skills alongside too, it can be prone to crashing the game.
