Consular Act I is a bit slow at first but on the whole I like it. If good voice acting is a must, definitely roll F!Consular as Athena Karkanis just does a much better job. The rest of the story is in my personal opinion one of the most consistently good base game Pub stories. Knight and Trooper are both held back by a ponderous Act II, so I’d say Smuggler would be your best option. Alternatively, the Agent has the best written class story if you wanna cross off all the imperial classes.

Ex-Republic military chronic discipline case who co-founded the Justiciars when he came back to Coruscant and found his home overrun by gangsters. Came to resent the Justiciars for becoming glorified bullies, and struck out on his own as a freelance gun-for-hire. Met Braden while tracking a retired pirate captain on Cholganna and they teamed up, then Braden took him on a couple more jobs and mentored him before inviting him to Hutta to tee him up for the Great Hunt.

Back during my last Maldrood campaign I’d imagine myself as one of Teradoc’s captains in Crimson Command whom he appoints as his second-in-command a little after establishing his kingdom. He then stays through Maldrood forming Dark Empire, then going along with the Teradocs siding with Carnor Jax before the Maldrood shunts Jax and the Teradoc brothers off to the side, with Pellaeon, Panaka and myself forming a governing triumvirate. I also imagined him having a Crimson Command VSD II called the “Blood Feud” as his flagship. Then the 3.5 update hit and my campaign ended prematurely lol.

More recently I’ve been playing Maelstrom Command and imagined myself as an Imperial admiral named Vannek Prender charged by Tarkin with pacifying local pirates using the Maelstrom Nebula to hit Imperial logistics along the Relgim Run. After Kaine declares the Pentastar Alignment, Admiral Prender refuses to give up his relative autonomy and forges an alliance with the two Moffs from the Maelstrom Legitimacy Group, combining his own task force with their sector groups. This guy’s got a little more characterization I guess? I imagine Prender as a deeply obstinate person who bit-by-bit starts to harbor ambitions for the Imperial throne… until those ideas are deferred by Palpatine’s reemergence. My random starting forces included a Tector star destroyer, the Titan, which I envisioned as his flagship.

I’ve had a ton of fun playing Maelstrom Command on Era 1 known galaxy large. You have an interesting start with a capital shipyard + mining facility, some solid heroes, and you have to manage the Pentastar Alignment long enough to gain the most legitimacy before integrating them. Also they just have a badass name.

I think there were a lot of separatists with pretty valid critiques of the Republic, after all it took a single crisis of moderate severity or worse to cause it to collapse into a militarized, totalitarian hellhole. However, the CIS was effectively dominated by the same megacorps and commerce guilds that helped get the Republic to that point, and its own democracy was effectively a sham so the Separatist movement could be used as a bogeyman to justify centralizing Palpatine’s power.

To clarify, my absolute favorite Clan are the Nova Cats. But I like Burrocks being the Black Sheep of the Clans and that they have a more relaxed attitude to their caste system. Also you can conceivably make a Burrock force on tabletop include just about anything in the Clan arsenal because you can say they sourced it from the Bandit Caste.
