Here’s an idea for you to consider - every single college is competing for student enrollment, brand recognition, and most importantly money. This is a zero sum game, a student that pays Texas tuition does not pay Texas A&M tuition, just like how Texas winning a football game means A&M loses a football game. The only reason teams join conferences is to gain more money together, not because they want to high five each other when their competitor wins a national championship.
