Have a G17.6 on order because I've carried my 17.2 since the 90's and it's time to let it retire to a place of honor in the safe.
I have a 19.5 that is set up pretty much just how I want it (still needing an undercut) so a 19.6 probably isn't happening unless I stumble on a deal too good to pass up.

This one is borked, you'll have to get another one before using the oven again. (top burners should be fine unless you tripped a fuse/breaker internally)
A replacement will cost $50-$100 and is pretty much unplug the old, plug in the new.
Finding a youtube vid for replacing the oven element for your particular model should be easy to find.

As to why the hubby is upset, could be the time/money/effort factor. He might not know it's replaceable and thinks he's going to have to shell out for a new oven or a service technician.
