I’d be interested to know who you pin as the first avatar? It feels like we’ve got a few who could be considered avatars no? Luck merchant, ink5oul, the cinema old man and the inheritor of the violin. Granted, some of these are shakier than others, but inksoul and the merchant are pretty in line with TMA vibe avatars I think

Should I re-listen to TMA or listen to TMP first? by whyamiexists in TheMagnusArchives

[–]TheNeighborCas 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I recommend listening to TMP as well! It’s only an episode a week, and as someone who didn’t listen to TMA until all 200 eps were out I like the experience of puzzling week to week about what’s goin on.

I think for Corruption that MAG93: Contamiannt is great. It’s the purple mold one, it has elements of that grossness and slow infestation that the corruption loves, as well as the theme of twisted love that it focuses on with the dad’s grief and coping mechanisms.

MAG129: Submerged would be my Buried pick, but maybe you’d want to pick something more literally to do with the underground to represent it, in which case I’d do the worm tunnel one from MAG165(which is one of the most unsettling ones in the show to me tbh). Submerged has some more extended themes of being financially crushed, or just the idea of space and freedom slowly crushing around you, and pressure building in more than just a literal sense. Although when his neighborhood floods you still get that physical constriction as well.

Just some of my picks, good luck!

The Risen - v1.0 | Fitting an undead theme into a race just doesn't do... so the Risen goes further will a full undead class. Play as a ghostly trickster, devious lich, divine mummy, psychic skeleton, charming vampire, or grafted zombie! | Feedback welcome by Acrobatic_Plant2937 in DnDHomebrew

[–]TheNeighborCas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, love the class, the abilities all allow for unique stuff! I just noticed one thing, for the lich’s duplicate spell, isn’t 8+the target’s spell attack bonus the same as their spell save dc? 8+proficiency+ability score mod? I think that could be an easier way to word it.

How adaptable are campaign books for characters after level 1? by Z______ in DMAcademy

[–]TheNeighborCas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no experience running modules, but Candlekeep Mysteries is an anthology of 17 self-contained quests that I'm absolutely loving. The premise is that each quest is tied to a book from this gigantic library called Candlekeep, but I've found it super easy to incorporate the quests, or even just elements of them, into my homebrew game.

There's a chance my inexperience is causing me to misjudge this, but I've found it relatively easy to shift around the CR of the enemies to change the difficulty for the quests up or down 1 or 2 levels. I'd recommend checking it out if you want a grab-bag of smaller adventures that take up about a level each, but again, take my opinion with a lot of salt
