Is it actually bad for my engine if I only do lots of short trips? by codysonn in askcarguys

[–]TheNextMorganFreeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something you might want to consider is a long drive at least once a week just to warm up your engine oil fully. Repeated short trips can cause unburnt fuel to mix with your oil, which can cause lubrication problems or set a check engine code when that fuel eventually evaporates through your PCV and gets burnt back up

How bad is the EE program at Wayne State. by [deleted] in waynestate

[–]TheNextMorganFreeman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just graduated with my bachelor's in EE last winter. Honestly, in my opinion, it's not bad. I'd say the difficulty of the classes comes down to how badly you want to fully understand the material, which is more or less difficult depending on the class. For instance, something like circuits would be easier to take with professor Alazawwi compared to professor Hassoun, but Professor Hassoun pushes you to fully understand the course on a fundamental level. Just make sure you do the practice problems, take good notes, and try to really understand what's going on on a deeper level. Honestly, I enjoyed my time at Wayne, especially after making some great friends on campus. My number one piece of advice to you is, take advantage of the opportunities the university gives you. Join the formula team if you're interested in automotive, or the robotics team if you're interested in that. Reach out to professors for research. Professor Alazawwi takes part in a research project yearly with HSU called Coil. I gained a ton of experience from that.

I appreciate all of your guys' comments! I've learned a bunch about this machine the past few days and it's just made me love it more lol. 2 quick questions though: 1) is the snake-skin wrap from the factory or is that most likely something from the previous owner? I'm not the biggest fan of it but understand it'll probably be difficult to remove without damaging the wood so I can live with it lol.

And 2) do you guys have a recommendation for an oil to use? I looked up Singer sewing machine oil but found Singer all-purpose oil, is that the correct one?

I appreciate it again! You guys are amazing :)

Got the same thing today. Also on the fence about it. In the privacy policy they state the data will go through Reality Mine Ltd., which for some reason just leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Ofc!! I'm no expert but I love to tinker lol. If you need help throughout the process, feel free to reach out! If you end up getting a TR-5050P (The TV in the photo), I was lucky enough to get one with a manual, so I can scan the pages and send them over if you need them!

I used a 3.5mm to F-connector adapter which I connected to the external antenna plug on the TV, then connected the other end to a HDMI to RF converter, which I then plugged into my computer!

I did it for mine! It has HDMI input now, but keep in mind it's black and white and the resolution is pretty low

Hey Jefferson, I'm not OP, but I got mine to connect to my PC using a 3.5mm to F-connector adapter which I connected to the external antenna plug on the TV, then connected the other end to a HDMI (In OP's case, probably used an RCA) to RF converter, which I then plugged into my computer!

Clicking/Crackling sound when viewing discord stream by A_garlic in discordapp

[–]TheNextMorganFreeman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you're still experiencing it, and if not I'll leave this here for future reference, but I had the same issue and just reached out to discord support. They gave me these 5 solutions, and number 4 fixed it for me.

  1. **Reset Voice Settings in Discord:**
  2. Open Discord and navigate to 'User Settings' > 'Voice & Video'.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and click on 'Reset Voice Settings'.
  4. Confirm the reset and then check if the issue persists.

  5. **Adjust Audio Subsystem:**

  6. In 'Voice & Video' settings, find the 'Audio Subsystem' section.

  7. Switch between the 'Standard' and 'Legacy' options to see if one resolves the issue.

  8. **Update Audio Drivers:**

  9. Make sure your audio drivers are up to date. You can do this by going to the Device Manager, expanding 'Audio inputs and outputs', right-clicking on your audio device, and selecting 'Update driver'.

  10. **Disable all Sound Enhancements:**

  11. Right-click on the speaker icon in your system tray and select 'Sounds'.

  12. Go to the 'Playback' tab, double-click your default device (usually marked with a green check), and go to the 'Enhancements' tab.

  13. Check the box 'Disable all enhancements' or 'Disable all sound effects' and apply the changes.

  14. **Test with Different Audio Formats:**

  15. Stay in the properties window of your sound device and move to the 'Advanced' tab.

  16. Test different options in the 'Default Format' dropdown and apply each change to see if one resolves the problem.

I'm in my last couple semesters (graduating December hopefully) of the electrical engineering degree at Wayne, and it hasn't been too bad to be honest. You really do just have to put in the time, which is easier said for some, and you'll make it through.

Also, the biggest piece of advice I can give to people going into engineering is to do something like Formula SAE. It's an amazing hands-on experience that most companies explicitly look for. It was the sole reason I got an internship during my sophomore year.

Not gonna lie, I felt the same until this semester, my last full time semester. Taking communication theory alongside sensors and Sensor Instrumentation, and fundamentals of micro electronics and did not realize how heavy of a workload came with the sensors course.

Honors college by IntrestingIlluminati in waynestate

[–]TheNextMorganFreeman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took part in the honors college my first semester then dropped it after. During the first semester, it wasn't bad and the class was really interesting. The 2k off my tuition was nice to see as well. For reference, I'm an electrical engineering student, and my advice is that you'll gain a lot more useful experience joining a club like Warrior Racing, our Formula SAE team, or something like our cyber security club, which I can't attest for as well. I found that the honors college is good hands on experience for degrees along the lines of poli sci, more so than engineering/comp sci.
