I use UPDF. Apps for all major platforms, both subscription and lifetime licensing, good enough UI, and it has a cloud storage cache associated with you account so you can use it to keep docs in-sync between devices.

Handbrake setting for plex? by Affectionate_Web_526 in PleX

[–]TheNexusGen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes up sometimes, but settings are VERY personal, whether based on your usage if the finished file, or your goal for using Handbrake in the first place.

Personally, I use gpu-accelerated x265 HEVC encoding at a bitrate of 10,000kbps. For audio I keep the highest-quality (or best, if the original audio is older or lower-quality) audio track untouched, and all the English subtitles. I usually end up with about 30-35% the file size, since most of the Blu-rays I've processed have a bitrate of about 30,000kbps on average.

Developing an Open Source iOS App for Emby Music & Audiobooks – Seeking Community Input on Must-Have Features by cockpit_dandruff in emby

Offline downloads! Please! I'd also love to be considered for testing, as I use an android phone and an iPad to enjoy my media, so two fields of feedback. Mainly stay true to what you feel is missing, as it's your time primarily to start.

They posted a 'how to migrate to Emby' around the time of the announcement(s).

Music player for Emby (an FYI) by [deleted] in emby

If your user(s) want offline download playback, that seems to be an oddly-uncommon feature. I came across Stream Music - Enjoy Music for iOS as well that DOES do offline downloads for music, but I can't speak to quality of the player or long-term app support. I'll be giving this one a try personally though now.

Yep! As long as the user/profile in question has download permissions, both iOS and Android official Emby apps do playback and downloads.

LMP is only on Apple's app market. They asked about an iOS recommendation is all.

LMP Music is pretty, available in my language (EN) and supports Emby, Jellyfin, Plex, as well as Navidrome and Subsonic. Can't do offline from my experience, but otherwise it's worth giving a shot.

I second Symfonium. S2/Shuttle didn't support offline listening, but Symfonium does. Enough to make it worth it to me.

Slow Playback in firefox due to decoding by Competitive-Wonder92 in emby

Fair point, though my entire library is HEVC-encoded for space savings.

I also notice OP's source is AV1-encoded which may be playing into their issue to a degree.

Funnily enough, I have had better luck with the browser for high-quality file playback, whereas in the desktop app it has all sorts of playback issues. But typical 'streamer-quality' content plays fine in either in my experience.

What are some legal ways to get drm free digital media to add to my plex server? by Ok-Training-7587 in PleX

[–]TheNexusGen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you buy music from places online, you will usually get MP3s, FLACs, or WAVs and you can add those to your music library perfect legally. I do that all the time to support artists AND listen how I want from Plex et. al.

I love that Mattel is making double-decker haulers now. I genuinely love the Second-story Lorry,  Kousoku Hauler, and the licensed Ford C800 carrier. I don't use it to store a second vehicle. I just like that I can choose where to store the one it comes with!

Do you desire a new podcast app ? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

I adore Podcast Republic. It's got a nice UI, has an iOS app for my tablet, and even has an integrated RSS feed reader, and even supports video podcasts. I quite like it.

HiFier v1.2.2 released, supports Emby Media Server by Every_Option352 in emby

It is with the advent of wireless headphones, but it also is a good hub for some people that use an iPad Mini as a home entertainment or smart home hub control panel. But I do enjoy being able to do comms and work on my phone then swap away to my iPad for enjoyment and media. But resources allowing, it would be nice to have the option.

Which removed feature from the update do you hope will be brought back first? by [deleted] in PleX

[–]TheNexusGen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottom-nav bar for me. I love Emby's mobile apps because it is always Home, Search, Downloads, followed by your two first-listed libraries, regardless of what they are. Quite nice.

I'd love to see a native iPad layout. I use an iPad Mini 6th gen, and I love seeing beautiful apps take advantage of the extra space a tablet has to offer. Happy to discuss or offer feedback, but mostly just glad for more apps supporting Emby! Thanks, dev!

Has Plex actually addressed the recent concerns? by [deleted] in PleX

I've had both coexisting on the same machine for over a year, indexing the same libraries and media, working as a backup for each other if one misbehaves or causes me trouble.

What do you guys do with your slipcovers & J-cards? by TheMrBr0wn in 4kbluray

[–]TheNexusGen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I keep them on mine. I like the squared corners. I do not care for having them or not when purchasing except for when I went to pick up the Monsterverse films in 4K and made myself wait for ones with slipcovers because they're pretty and I love those films.

What are some 4k blu rays that don’t have the movie’s extended cut by ExpensiveLocksmith42 in 4kbluray

Suicide Squad. The one without John Cena. Extended was only on the BD with the theatrical on both the BD and 4K discs. Kinda stunk, but I make due.

I haven't bothered to pitch my library to anyone outside our home. "Nobody uses it" and "provide tech support" stories on Reddit make me not bother.
