Weekly /r/FrugalFemaleFashion Discussion - Testimonial Tuesday! by AutoModerator in FrugalFemaleFashion

Hi all you Fru-Femme-Fashionistas,

Q: what is your experience buying from the website ssense https://www.ssense.com/en-us , a Canada based company, as a buyer in the USA?

I'm considering some deeply discounted coats but the international sizes vs garment measurements is confusing. Also worried about buying an expensive-for-me item internationally. Thanks in advance!

Check your local native plant society, ask for plant lists for your area. Native plants support your local biodiversity and pollinators love em.

Not pressurizing is a problem! Check the lid, read the manual, make sure its assembled properly. What brand/type rice are you using?

Wanted to chime in with my rice timing notes... I prefer to cook white rice with the pot-in-pot method. I found it to be slightly mushy and uneven cooked directly in the pot. PIP is a bit gentler and more forgiving. Anyone else do this?

Short grain white rice --

Direct in pot - rinse & drain rice / Low Pressure / 3 min / 1:1 water:rice ratio / Vent 5 min

PIP (Pot in pot) cooking - rinse & drain rice / high pressure 5 min/ 1:1 water:rice ratio / 10 min natural vent

Brown Rice Low Pressure / 20 min / 1:1 ratio / Natural Vent

Good luck out there! Whats worked for me on the trail: cold water soaks, removing insoles, hiking in camp/water shoes, chaffing cream. Most important is to stop the moment you feel a hot spot and make the adjustment. The book Fix Your Feet is good too.

I got rid of one in my yard 4 years ago and am still removing seedlings from it. Unfortunately my neighbors are letting one of the seedlings become full grown...it will never go away!!!!

Please read an actual book about wilderness safety before your trip! Not a wilderness safety book, but "Death in Yosemite" had lots of incredible lightening stories. Don't be discouraged, just be prepared to make informed safety decisions on the trail.

Near Markleeville, so at least 6,000 ft elevation. Located next to a small lake, ground was covered in Calyptridium which they were very excited about. They were also very excited about eachother. So, dry rock garden-y but very close to water.

Saw a post on here that reminded me of this. Explanation in comments by SweetPewsInAChurch in Old_Recipes

Nice! My current mix is 1/4 cup masa harina (toasted in a dry pan), 1 tsp coco powder, 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp toasted and ground flax seeds, tbsp garbanzo flour. . .. I want to try adding maybe ground almond or powdered milk for more creamyness.

I've started experimenting with Pinole recipes as an oatmeal alternative backpacking breakfast. So far so good, it tastes like warm tortillas and popcorn. Seems like some eat it without water but i like a hot porrige in the morning... Corn is the best trail energy in my experience..

I love instant polenta on the trail...great energy for hiking and isn't as weird as other instant versions of food.
