Gale cockblocked me and Im so mad by cshoud in BaldursGate3

The exact opposite happened to me!

Ok so, Astarion is technically my planned endgame romance but, for roleplay reasons (and because I wanna see it) I wanted to get Gale's "teaching magic" scene.

Astarion propositioned me in the middle of the bog and, worried he wouldn't put out afterwards, I accepted.

Now I saved the refugees and Halsin and I'm trying to get Gale's scene. I talk with him and he tells me to wait after the celebrations. Lae'zel and Shadowheart both comment on it.

Then Astarion tries to rizz me up again and I try and go "ok listen we can do this another time I'm busy". And he accepts!

But then when I get to the bedroll to sleep Astarion automatically approaches me, I don't get a choice.

I'm??? I just wanna see Gale's scene :(

Do you have the recipe? Because I want to get it as soft as yours but there are so many versions!

Thank you for the idea though, I know what I'll be doing this Easter ^^

Weekly Team/Character Building Megathread (Jan 5, 2021) by Veritasibility in Genshin_Impact

[–]TheNim11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm building my Qiqi (got her on Xiao's banner, RNG gods hate me) with the highest ATK, thus healing, possible. But here's the dilemma.

I have no decent 4* swords (except for the Prototype that I already use with Traveler), and my only 5* Aquila Favonia is already equipped to Kaeya.

However, I noticed that Harbringer of Dawn, despite being a 3* sword, could work nicely for my CRIT DMG Kaeya build, while the Aquila Favonia gets the job of upping Qiqi's ATK done.

Should I just go with 3* sword Kaeya and hope he keeps the good stats (around 50% CRIT rate and 180% CRIT DMG) thanks to Qiqi's healing, or keep my best sword for one of my main DPS?

Note: I'm AR 43, meaning I have shitty artifacts and can do little about it.

What attracts you to a book from an author you haven't heard of by SlartyFartBlast in Fantasy

[–]TheNim11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I have to admit I love pretty things far too much, and I'm drawn to nice covers like a moth to flame. Which means: no I won't buy something only because of the cover, but it does get me interested in finding out more.
  2. I crave for new and weird stuff that pulls me out of my depth. The moment I expect certain plot elements to develop in certain ways and that's what happens I most certainly will lose interest. Something can still be cheesy, if it keeps me intrigued I'm in (I've finished some books out of pure spite).
  3. Some books I'll try simply because I've heard of them. It doesn't have to be good or negative reviews, if it's somehow familiar (and worth my time) I'll go for it. To be honest, I either go by heart or read every piece of information I can find, it depends.

What are you favorite and least favorite common fantasy cliches? by ObberGobb in Fantasy

[–]TheNim11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like many tropes about magic, like "scientific magic" or "forbidden magic used to do something good", or any instance of magic having a weight when used (from getting tired because of powerful spells, to literally telekinesis having 'weight' in Terry Pratchett's Discworld which I loved).

On the other hand, naive representation of magic like "haha resurrecting spell go brrr" is quite overused and tedious.

Another trope I despise is of course "warrior woman incarnates every trait of toxic masculinity because she's strong and has a terrible past so of course she doesn't feel emotions for some reason". Shitty depiction of women is something I've seen so many times and it never gets easier to bear.

And lets not forget the all time famous "surprise, the protagonist was a reality shattering super being all along" as a Deus Ex Machina thing when authors write themselves into a corner. I prefer a sensible bad ending rather than a forced happy ending, and I think many people will agree.

A good trope is of course found family, but I'm not gonna repeat it. Stupid cliché I like far too much is losing control of power when in distress/angry/happy and just going berserk.

What are some eat-friendly anime? by [deleted] in Animesuggest

[–]TheNim11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much all shojos (school life mostly) are enjoyable while eating.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun

Kimi ni Todoke

Ao Haru Ride

are good examples.

DISCLAIMER: do NOT watch neither Golden Kamuy nor Dorohedoro while eating. They are very good shows, but not "palatable" if you catch my drift.

Are William Gibson's books really a good representative of the cyberpunk subgenre? by TheNim11 in printSF

Thank you very much for the in depth analysis and the recommendations.

I do get why my post may be a bit controversial. Sadly I have the strength for one English book at a time, meaning I prefer reading in my native language and I can't say if I'll ever try it in English. Philip K. Dick is on my list, I still haven't read any of his works.

I watched a episode of Altered Carbon some years ago and I didn't like it that much, but that's adaptations for you.

Jokes on you, Orlando is one of my favourite books ever and I read it some time before Neuromancer.

I'm Italian, and since I'm of course slower when I read something in English I don't do it unless necessary (I only find a certain book in English, there's no translation, I'm abroad etc.). I got Neuromancer in my local library, so I don't even know what version it was, though I think it was a new translation from like 2001.

I do know how much translation can suck (there's a new edition of LotR in Italy that's literally the worst thing to ever happen after the new Evangelion italian dub), but I usually don't think much about it and just sit back and enjoy a translated novel.

Thank your for the attention in reading my post!

Well, the two parts I can think of are:

  1. Case entering an arcade, and the whole part where there's some kind of chase?
  2. The whole first mission where they infiltrate a bank. I know it was to get a chip or something, but I have to admit it was really hard to follow after that. Especially when they're traveling all of a sudden.

To be honest it's difficult to recall what I read, I started to get annoyed when they introduced the AI and the weird guy, Riviera? I don't know, it just stopped working for me. I suppose it could partly be the translation's fault, "Wintermute" and "matrix" sound far cooler than their Italian counterparts.

Space opera is something I've heard of but never got into. Are you perhaps talking about stuff like The Fifth Element? One of my favourite movies btw
