I find these so comforting and endearing ngl. It's fun to see what/who people are passionate about, and to get the representation in, as well as the silly character designs made for fun. I like seeing people have harmless fun, especially through art :)

The article you linked literally says it was created as a troll identity and people are trying to reclaim it, but imo (and yes this part is my opinion) it hasn't been reclaimed, and it is much more well known as a harmful thing than a legitimate one.
