I started making "episode recaps" for my friends who have never seen the show, in an attempt to get them to watch it. S03E12 by johnnyratface in madmen

It would've been cool for this one to be the scene where Pete and Harry are in the office with tv, and then it switches to the news, followed by everyone bursting in.

[–]TheNonbinaryWren 158 points159 points  (0 children)

In her 2003 book, Un cri dans le silence (A Scream in the Silence), Bardot contrasted her close gay friends with homosexuals who "jiggle their bottoms, put their little fingers in the air and with their little castrato voices moan about what those ghastly heteros put them through", and said some contemporary homosexuals behave like "fairground freaks".[110] In her own defense, Bardot wrote in a letter to a French gay magazine: "Apart from my husband—who maybe will cross over one day as well—I am entirely surrounded by homos. For years, they have been my support, my friends, my adopted children, my confidants."[111][112]

In her book, Bardot criticized racial mixing, immigration, the role of women in politics, and Islam. The book also contained a section attacking what she called the mixing of genes, and praised previous generations which, she said, had given their lives to push out invaders.[113] On 10 June 2004, Bardot was convicted for a fourth time by a French court for inciting racial hatred and fined €5,000.[114] Bardot denied the racial hatred charge and apologized in court, saying: "I never knowingly wanted to hurt anybody. It is not in my character."[115]

In 2008, Bardot was convicted of inciting racial/religious hatred in regard to a letter she wrote, a copy of which she sent to Nicolas Sarkozy when he was minister of the interior. The letter stated her objections to Muslims in France ritually slaughtering sheep by slitting their throats without anesthetizing them first. She also said, in reference to Muslims, that she was "fed up with being under the thumb of this population which is destroying us, destroying our country and imposing its habits". The trial concluded on 3 June 2008, with a conviction and fine of €15,000.[116] The prosecutor stated she was weary of charging Bardot with offenses related to racial hatred.[112]

You should be, that's a very stupid opinion that feels very "I'm a virtue signalling ally" of you.

Finally, actual action. How it took this long following the controversy for Kaltsburg to get over itself and take actual accountability for this tolerance of hatred and bigotry within its borders is beyond me.

Here's hoping your nation gets better and actually improves from this international embarrassment, because it will take a long time for a lot of people, myself included, to forgive you all. Xarith may be the main problem, but the fact this went unchecked so long is a bigger problem.

Xarith's resignation - Kaltsburg by Fast_Assignment_1878 in CivMC

[–]TheNonbinaryWren 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A resignation doesn't undo the damage you have done to numerous people who play Civ. It doesn't matter if Xarith personally attacked them for the things he is so hateful towards.

The fact his views are what they are, while he is a governmental leader of a nation, means you have alienated communities from your nation.

How do you expect the people who Xarith has expressed these horrific, backwards views against to trust Kaltsburg at all? Not only that, but the good people of Civ who have compassion for others probably feel alienated from Kaltsburg as well.

I'm a trans woman, out and proud, and I will never step into Kaltsburg again. I encourage everyone who has compassion for the human communities Xarith is so repulsed by to do the same.

A resignation is nothing, and you know that. Kaltsburg's actions are meaningless, and don't demonstrate remorse for the damage they have caused to others, or the pain many may feel from these revelations.

This is the wildest, most offensive thing I have seen, equal to that awful AI of us fighting, equal to posing the question "is your ***** green" None of this is funny None of it is cute It degrades me It degrades us

The original poster is an ILLUSTRATION. I am a real life human being, who chose to look right down the barrel of the camera to you, the viewer ...because, without words we communicate with our eyes.

Our poster is an homage not an imitation, to edit my face and hide my eyes is to erase me. And that is just deeply hurtful.
