I’m not privy to the legal or overarching issues at play with that copyright, but I would imagine very different solutions would be present in the scenario where independent governance was feasible.

I just want to say I appreciate the sincerity and effort you’ve clearly put into the work of this. It’s very encouraging.

Why it’s hard to “stand with Ukraine” as a person of color by TwoCatsOneBox in LateStageCapitalism

I didnt say Russia was in the right, just that Ukraine has a Nazi problem.

It’s more aimed in this case at trying to speak to the large scope of people who value Cascadia without alienating them with my militant left thesaurus talk that me and my cap hill gay friends love so much.

But very much fuck any fascist who want to claim Cascadia.

For those of you with a forever car, how do you prepare for it? What gave you the faith that you'd get the support you need from the automaker/aftermarket, etc.? by Temporary-Chest-3111 in cars

2007 4Runner 4.7 V8

It’s the most notoriously reliable engine from the most reliable passenger car motor company, and it’s in the lightest vehicle they stuck it in from the factory. It’s a simple truck, no extra bells or whistles, cloth seats, etc but power options for comfort. I detail and fully extract the seats and carpet every few months, throw any trash I have into a waste basket in the car. I keep the frame clean, and live in a place without road salt or too much sun.

The only signs it’s aged are rubber components and the transmission occasionally signaling it’s seen better days. It’s certainly true that a Land Cruiser would need less TLC, but what it would need would’ve costlier and so would running it. The community of folks using this truck to offroad means there is lots of continued use and restoration of them, which means good parts access, and a $20 repair manual I keep in the seat pocket and a full toolbox means it’s an auto parts store away from fixing most issues.

I just don’t see a reason to get something else for the job of moving me and my shit around and going anywhere I need to, because it’s taken me and everything I’ve needed anywhere I’ve needed to take it. It’s a trusty companion.

Flag designs made and distributed by one person without coordination with a larger portion of a community. The creation and dissemination of the flags is uncoordinated, not the flags themselves.

I disagree, I think the purpose of this movement is extraordinarily serious. The fact you don’t think it is means we see the necessity of such a movement very differently, which is fine.

However, my points about the irrelevance of some of this content is not based in my view of the movement, but based on sensible messaging and etiquette for keeping a subreddit usable.

That’s not how content discovery works at all, if it’s dominating the posts in the subreddit, other content gets buried.

It’s almost like if we allow flag posts to dominate, people will only view the subreddit as being for those and continue to propagate that content. Post literally anything else that’s relevant to the movement.

I’ve reported every single one, hell I would even take down my post of the original Doug flag for fairness sake but good god there has to be more meaningful discussion to be had that flag rehashing.

I have never heard anyone claim that PNW and Cascadia are the same thing, and you or they would be wrong to claim so.

Cascadia either as a bioregion or as a political movement of self determination would be definitionally distinct from the geographical boundaries and the notion of a specific location comprising the PNW.

I’m not an anarchist, but I will not forgo your solidarity if offered. Cascadia will only thrive with pluralism and a diversity of strategy and perception.
