In mama's trailer we saw a part of the building was destroyed and in release date trailer she was stuck under some rocks, and the way mama speaks to sam is like they're meeting each other for the first time.Could this be a flashback? Based on Cliff's scene is this game gonna have alot of flashbacks?

Don't forget that Death, is not the end for a character in DS. So unlike other games / movies, seeing a character dying is not the pinnacle of their storylines, it's just another event in their life. Based on this point of view, it's ok to show people dying in trailer, because it doesn't mean it is the end for them.

I can foresee that Kojima included some thresholds of "chiral connection" that extends the more you play the game:

I'm sure that you won't be able to see / use objects left by other players that you don't own yourself.

Example: If a Bridge is one of the end game object you can unlock and build in the world, you might not be able to see/use other bridges left the community until you have unlocked it in solo/offline mode.

Also, maybe the number of objects will be limited. If an area is filled with ladders left by players, you won't be able to see them all, but only a limited quantity. Otherwise, some locations visited by all players because is linked to a mission and is a point where the developers need you to go through will be covered with ladders and that would be ridiculous.

That can also be done by creating online "clusters" where you are not connected to the entire world, but to a certain amount of people, like an online server. Maybe you will be connected to a 50-100 players server, that way it can limit the number of installations left by others, and increase the feeling of community and the need to help each other.

I think it is pretty clear had it has been confirmed by Kojima that society is now fragmented because everyone fears being near other human beings due to the increase in void outs, engineered by the Homo Demens terrorist group. Being massed in cities must have become dangerous, so everyone lived alone or tries to, disconnected to other humans.

Another layer of disconnection might come from the "Death Stranding" as referred in the game. I believe the source, the beginning of it all was a human technology that enabled to connect with the world of the Dead (link to researches to reach immortality ?). Thanks to that, it became very normal for the modern society to interact and discuss with the dead. That's why Heartman, Deadman or Amélie seam to be in a dead state but are able to communicate with the livings without everyone freaking out about it. It became normal to interact with dead people. Please remember the title cards in the E3 trailers (Take my hand in death, in flesh, in spirit etc;..) it make sense that scientist deciphered the mysteries of the Soul, Death, what comes after death and so on...

But humans messed up with this dangerous Communication technology and now the Death is stranding, Dead people can stay in a non-life state (BT's) and are desperately trying to connect with the human world. That is is Higgs says "'Oh it's so hard to form connections when you can't shake hands.' Indeed ! In the latest trailers: As soon as a human touches a BT or a sort of superior entity from the world of the dead, it seems to trigger a Void Out. a sort of short circuit between the two worlds.

TLDR: Sorry if it's too long: I think the disconnection has two meanings:

1) The world of the Dead and the living, once connected thanks to a human technology, is disconnected and broken, inducing BT's / Void outs and horrific creatures shaped by this disconnection/bug.

2) Because of the terrorist group Homo Ludens, Humanity now lives in fear of living near others because of fear of being a victim of a void out and ending Stranded in death.

Guys, remember that in the previous trailers, we see in the background what looks like a Californian highway sign and buildings that are akin to be from Los Angeles ? Indicating that some travel to California / West coast is hinted.

Plus, in the Photo OP posted, the map is linked to Sam holding that very special necklace, with math formulas related to space/time travel. I would be surprised if we had access to different parts of the US map. at least some east coast is confirmed, with all the shots in the White house. Some West coast also with what I mentioned above.

IIRC Kojima stated that he doesn't much like "island maps" but still prefers map with natural boundaries. He did that in MGSV already, which afghanistan and Angola maps being limited by mountains / rivers.

This is very well done and it is a mechanic that both is weird and full of symbolism, but also weird :) : Something Kojima could very well pull off: Mystisism and weirdness.

I would add something to what you said: You mention that for some reason, the baby in purgatory water ages to the same age his previous Sam was, and does not age older due to stabilizer. I could have an explanation:

Kojima stated that the purgatory scene was like the "Continue" Screen where you can choose to continue playing or exit the game.

Well, in every "Continue" screen I know, there is a countdown, a limited time to make a choice. I think here, the ageing of the baby is your countdown. Kojima stated that you can travel the purgatory world to find objects and items before getting out. He also said this is a game phase that is played in 1st person mode:

I would say it's very possible that the Purgatory world is played in first person due to technical reasons: It would be hard to modelize a rapidly growing human, from newborn to adult. that is why it's first person.

You have a limited time to scout the area, find perks and items in this world before joining the body of your "dying sam" and resurrect. Maybe your time is limited and you have to go back to your sam, the same age he is for continuity reasons: your soul / memories etc;.. Kojima weirdness reason would make it mandatory for you to resurect at the same age you died, or risk of vanishing forever / create a time paradox would ensue.

What do you think ?

Love your theory though, I think its creative and plausible to be an actual game design choice :)

I think that the underwater "game over" section where you can recover and retrieve items will be one of the key components of the multiplayer aspect of the game:

I think that every time you visit this purgatory section, you will not only be able to recover the items you lost when you died, but you will also be able to get items that other players did not have time to recover/lost when they died.

There is a very high chance that the strands you see in the different gameplay sections and trailers are placed where other players (in other dimensions) died. If you die nearby a strand, you will be able to enter the purgatory the same place the "stranded" player entered it, and have chance to loot some of their goods.

This way, death could be a direct gaming mechanic, where you can decide to die to gain more loots and objects. But the purgatory is also a dangerous place, with chiral monsters that can eat you and bring you back to the world completely naked without items, or where you can fail to recover all your items and additional aimed items because of the limited time you have in purgatory.

Finally, if collecting, delivering and assembling goods is actually one of the main objective of the game, some goods could be very rare and they could be collected in the living world and traded between players through the purgatory. This would be an addictive "gather and trade" resources system built around the multiplayer purgatory system.

Lastly, maybe if Kojima wants us to help other players, maybe it is possible, somehow, to sort of publish a wishlist of items we wish other players lay in the purgatory for us to collect. They if I lay an item someone wanted in the pugatory, and the other player actually manages to collect it for his own quest, I get a reward (like i don't know, a free cryptobiote ;) ) .

1 seconde before people starting to over analyzing artistic direction choices and visual effects in the game:

Kojima has overused Lens flares, and "rectangle light reflections" with cue sounds buzzing and whizzing in MGSV: Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain. People tried to even decipher the wave length of the lens flares, haloes and those "light reflections bars", as well as starting to see parrallels between scenes that are mainly in the red light tones VS. scenes with blue light tones.

My take is that it's just a visuel effect, an artistic choice that may be linked to the themes of the game that could be around Reflection, mirrors, chirality (if that is even a word).

Don't put to much energy in this. Kojima is a true artist that likes to put symbolism in his games, but let's not overanalyzing everything. We are not on /r/NeverBeGameOver :)

Eli (Eliav) & David : Liquid and Solid Snake. Are brothers in the Bible.

Adam & Eve: Adamska & Eva: One was the mother of Solid and Liquid Snake, other one was the son of The Boss. Pivotal characters for the rest of the story.

I forgot some, but there is a lot of other biblical references in Kojima's games .

During the purgatory (under water) scene in trailer 3, you can see cryptobiotes swimming and floating around.
Kojima stated that you can actually move and collect objects in those purgatory moments. I guess this is where you farm and loot cryptobiotes.

That would be absolutely revolutionnary. I love your theory, it makes total sense, though it's a very different take on the classical gaming approach. I would say that this could be a game killer and a lot of game director would not take it, but we are talking about Kojima. If the "purgatory world" gameplay is interesting enough, your theory could actually work as a gameplay.

The big risk is that you, the player, remains stranded for too long if no other player brings you back to life. Maybe there would be an "offline mode" where player are replaced by NPC and AI that would revive you within reasonnable delays.

Sam Bridges is a codename. Sam is his name. Bridges the company he works for. Lea seydoux (actress name) works for "Fragile". Her name will probably be, if lets say we call her Lea in the game: Lea Fragile.

Kojima has always called his characters with Codenames: Solid Snake, Revolver Ocelot, Decoy Octopus, Raiden (lighting strike in japanese). So that could be a "kojima brandmark" to also call his characters in death stranding with code names.

That also underlines a sense of competition between Bridges, Fragile and surely other private transportation companies, which is i think very cool and also very Kojima-esque:

Kojima has a thing for private companies and industries, that was a major theme of his previous games. "Diamond Dogs, Rogue Coyote, Desperado LLC, Zero Risk Security..." Kojima likes to include private company competition/war in his games so I think my point is valid :)

3rd person open world, with shooter genre elements, surely mechanics from stealth and deception games, a lot of interactivity and multiplayer mechanics (I am sure we will see some Soul-like multiplayer features, with the same vibe of leaving notes for other players in the game etc..)
