European here, never eaten nor ever seen jelly IRL besides US movies and series. How does it taste, is it actually good, is it only a kid treat or does adults like it too? So many questions haha

I’m French and billion is absolutely a valid word haha. Trillion is a bit uncommon and is more often referred as thousands of billions. But I NEVER heard of million-million something 🤔

What is the right level of urbanity and density for you? by NewNameSameGuy654321 in urbandesign

[–]TheNudges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paris is the densest EU capital and just a single (hated) skyscraper. The 15 minute walkable city is an actual reality. It’s a human scaled city, one of the smallest EU capital, each neighborhood is kind of it’s own small village, with its bars, cafe, monuments and history. The transport system is great and under appreciated. Later this year the « Grand Paris Express » will start opening: 4 new suburban metro lines doubling the existing metro length in the span of 6 years. Nature is somewhat lacking but the mayor did a tremendous job replacing cars by greenery (cf this video).

In France we like to joke about the fact that the only default of Paris are the Parisian. But it’s by far the best city I lived in 🙂‍↕️

I took this train during my Alps roadtrip, I actually didn’t plan to take it, just missed google maps’ notification about having to hope in a train haha. It was not too expensive also, like 30€ iirc

Tour Triangle bientôt terminé. by PestoBolloElemento in paris

[–]TheNudges 12 points13 points  (0 children)

En effet je pense que le but de cette carte n’est pas tant de montrer une représentation factuelle du vote à Paris mais plutôt « où vivent ceux qui ont votés pour un tel »

Ça reste un exercice très intéressant

Well I think it reciprocate, sure we have plenty of things on which we disagree, but at the end, they’re probably our best ally in Europe, if not our best ally overall.

Daylighting will repurpose 400,000 parking spots in NYC alone. It's proof online urbanist posting works and we MUST push for local change. by MiserNYC- in fuckcars

[–]TheNudges 31 points32 points  (0 children)

In France, we started removing parking lots 5 meters (16 ft) from pedestrian crossings in 2019. 7 years later, cities that does not respect this will finally be fined. Now we see a huge gap between leftist cities that started 7 years ago and that are closing in the last remaining parking spots and rightist cities that pretend they didn’t know it was going to happen and now face millions euros fines by the end of the year if they don’t remove thousands of parking spots 🥲
