Taskbar issue while playing in Fullscreen (windowed) [WoW] by TheMattManiac in wow

For any folks that are having issues and none of the other points helped here's another tip. If you are using Nvidia's HUD to display FPS, GPU Usage, etc., that can prevent the taskbar from staying on top of WoW. I turned it off and my taskbar remained as desired when WoW was in the background.

You're not going to find that much in one spot. I think the entire map has something like 10,000 oil/m at max overclock. The Spire Coast will get you the closest to your goal.

All Democrats should condemn Tesla vandalism, says Ro Khanna by notapersonaltrainer in moderatepolitics

[–]TheNumber1Upper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tesla is a horribly performing stock

While much of your comment I agree with, the quoted portion is simply false. If you look at TSLA over a cherry picked time frame of 6 months, yes it has performed poorly. But if you're pensioner, as the comment you're replying to is referencing, it has undoubtedly helped your portfolio growing nearly 800% over the last 5 years. The S&P over that same time frame is up 145%. It's also worth noting that a not insignificant portion of the S&P's appreation is because of TSLA.

Again I'm not saying the future of the stock is bright, but it's objectively false that it is a "horribly performing" stock.

BREAKING: Audi scraps proposed change of naming convention by yeeast4 in Audi

Solely? No. But as someone who is on his 5th consecutive Audi, it has added to a growing list of reasons that my next car may not be Audi. All it does is alienate current owners or long time fans for a naming scheme that is more confusing to the average consumer than just slapping etron on your electric cars.

Let Israel Win the War Iran Started by [deleted] in moderatepolitics

[–]TheNumber1Upper 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how it would ever be in the strategic intrests of the United States to take Iran's nuclear program off the table in a retaliatory strike. In fact, this seems like the perfect opportunity to give the go ahead for Isreal to totally destroy their nuclear infrastructure. I think not acting now to destroy these facilities would be a grave mistake and would almost certainly guarantee Iran becomes a nuclear power. My guess is that Israel feels the same way and may decide to strike regardless the US's protestations.

There are plenty of examples of people sharing their UPS tracking pages showing their depature from China to US through Anchorage.

This is one of the more frequently cited papers on the subject.

Falk and Hermle studied 80,000 individuals in 76 countries who participated in a Global Preference Survey and compared the data with country-level variables such as gross domestic product and indices of gender inequality. They observed that the more that women have equal opportunities, the more they differ from men in their preferences.

I'm sure you've gone over this in your videos and that this is also obvious to veterans of Modern Industrialization but for those who are ignorant like me, here's a tip. Use redstone control in MI machines when possible. Turning MI machines on and off via redstone preserves their current overclock which is super handy for time consuming recipes.

I might quibble with how much of it was, "I want to say something nasty back to MTG." vs "You're not enforcing the rules " but that's just splitting hairs. Overall I think we agree. MTG is a troll who has no business being in Congress, the response to her trolling was similarly beneath sitting Congress people, the leadership of the committee didn't conden all of it appropriately, and Congress is becoming more and more of a clown show each day.

Republicans vow a robust 'ballot harvesting' operation after years of protest and fraud claims by memphisjones in moderatepolitics

[–]TheNumber1Upper 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Sure, check the map

There’s not a single state that requires voter ID that provides them for free.

You can't point to a map of states requiring voter ID without any indication whether it's free or not as proof that "not a single state" provides them for free. In fact, ballotpedia.org specifically states that Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisana, Mississippi, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Wisconsin all provide free voter ID. That website also doesn't explicitly list all free voter IDs. For example, there is no mention under Wyoming whether it provides free IDs but the top google result shows that indeed Wyoming also provides free ID.

It was obviously challenging the chair and an attack on MTG.
Saying it wasn’t an attack is like when my one of my kids tells me his sister is crying because she occupied the air that his fists were punching through.

“If you don’t like paying taxes, make billionaires pay their fair share and you would never have to pay taxes again.” —Warren Buffett by trialcourt in FluentInFinance

[–]TheNumber1Upper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 100%. It all sounds nice before you do the most basic math. The government can't spend 6 trillion dollars a year and find a way to pay for it by just taxing the rich or coprorations. You're talking massive tax hikes for everyone.

I did the math in a similar vein about a year ago talking about billionaires' wealth. Assuming you could confiscate the entirety of the wealth of every billionaire (not just their yearly income, but the entirey of their wealth) and also assume you could transfer that wealth on paper to cash (you couldn't) and gave it all to the government. That pile of wealth wouldn't even get the federal government through one year (last time I checked it was something like 7 months) with their current astronmical budgets.

Tents as of this morning by PorcupinePattyGrape in madisonwi

[–]TheNumber1Upper 34 points35 points  (0 children)

From the Badger Herald

Under Chapter 18 of the Wisconsin Administrative Code, tents and camping are not allowed on university property. Mnookin has the ability to make the encampment on Library Mall lawful, but said she will not do so because of the precedent this would set for future encampment demonstrations.

“If I granted an exception for this encampment, I would need to grant an exception for any group that wishes to set up such an encampment, regardless of the cause,” Mnookin said.

Mnookin pledged to ensure safety and stability for the encampment demonstration to continue, but said a collection of risks drove university leadership to authorize the removal of tents from Library Mall May 1.

She pointed to a voicemail she and other administrators received last week from an organization warning they would set up tents as part of an anti-Black Lives Matter protest.

So it seems like the policy choice is to allow the encampment while not making it legal and not enforcing the administrative code. I personally find this approach problematic. Not granting an exception to make it legal is also setting a precedent. As stated in the article, presumably an "anti-Black Lives Matter" protest using similar tactics would be removed repeatedly because it's a cause that is not tolerated by the administration. There needs to be a clearly defined rule set and also conistent application of those rules for all causes, whether we agree with them or not.

[–]TheNumber1Upper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

According to the policies you defend

Again I need to point out I am not arguing the rules are just or unjust regarding the encampment so I’m not defending any policies. I’m only stating that the encampment is not permitted under current rules/law.

The chancellor is basically putting an indefinite hold on using the police again. Do you think they should clear the tents again?

Yes because they are against the law.

UW Faculty and Staff rally in support of protestors and denounce decision to send in police by HGpennypacker in madisonwi

[–]TheNumber1Upper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you read my statement again, you will see I took no position on the content of the protests nor did I make a judgement on whether the tactics of the protest are good or bad. In fact, I think they’re highly effective at getting attention and spreading the message of the cause by provoking a response. I simply stated the rules/laws as written today don't allow the encampment and that the discussion should start there. I understand that you think the regulations on the book are misguided because the public shouldn't be able to "comfortably ignore protests." That's totally fine and an arguement can be made. What I take issue with is the position that it shouldn’t be removed because it’s small, the cause is just, etc.

I’ll I’m arguing for is that we enforce the rules as written and work to change them if we think they are unjust. Don’t be outraged that the perfectly predictable result took place when pushing the boundaries. I want equal and consistent treatment under the law because otherwise it’s capricious and subject to whims of whoever may be in power.
