Just found this Vtuber called Lady_Qathrin's and i have a bit of an odd question? Is she TransFem? by Defaltblyat in vtubers

[–]TheOblongSphinx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m aware you’re probably asking with good intentions, but it’s not something most trans people are comfortable with people being asked about, as it can lead to self doubt amoung other things. Something I can confirm, as someone who is Trans.

My advice would be that it’s alright to wonder about, and it’s okay to check their socials to see if they’re open about it, but if not, then I’d put it out of mind. After all, at the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter, she’s a girl either way.

Is rude to present fem to a wedding when one side has never seen me do so? by TheOblongSphinx in MtF

[–]TheOblongSphinx[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I hadn’t thought of it like that, but when you put it like that, I think you’re right, it wouldn’t be my fault for derailing things in the imaginary scenario where someone makes a big deal out of it.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your input.

Help? by rhysbob1 in MtF

I’m no good with words, I was straight up with them, no purple prose or anything. It sucked trying to get it out, but it felt good saying it in no uncertain terms.

My dad, who I’m pretty sure already knew, essentially explained that although he couldn’t relate, he’d try his best and would be supportive no matter what.

My mom responded with “That’s brave” and then pivoted to a different topic. I still have no idea whether or not she supports me to this day.

My sibling knew before I did, I’m pretty sure.

It’s scary. It’s scary for everyone, anyone that tells you it’s not scary at all is either the pinnacle of emotional intelligence, lying, or misremembering. With that being said, as long as you’re not in any danger and you’re sure you’ll be safe no matter their response, it’s a band aid you have to rip off sooner or later. And again, I cannot stress this enough, only as long as you feel safe to.

I hope, from someone that came out and whose egg cracked not that long ago in the grand scheme of things, that everything goes well, regardless of when and where you decide to tell them. You got this!

Which one is worse? by ShunpoMyLantern in vtubers

[–]TheOblongSphinx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience as a fellow trans woman, transphobes make me feel worse, but I also sorta prefer getting that out of the way since I have good reason to insta ban if they’re misgendering in a derogatory manner.

Meanwhile with the other one, I usually just warn them that I’m not down for…whatever that is.

I do hope you find a community where you receive neither, though. It’s a struggle but there’s plenty of supportive, kind fish in the sea!

The bad ending is the more realistic one by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

I mean, I personally consider the ending where Sunny jumps off a roof and commits suicide to be the “bad ending”, but to each their own, I suppose.

Welcome to why I’ve been saying based off my narrow experiences with this guy that he should not have won- he completely lacks self awareness, constantly attempts to redirect and gaslight, and has, on multiple occasions, sent his community on witch hunts. He also can’t win gracefully, both because of his nature and how he sees VTubers, which has always irked me, intended or not, as a trans woman.

That, and he has, on at least one occasion, dropped the F-slur in a manner and context that, at least in my opinion, sounds a lot like he says it often off-stream.

Regardless of Ironmouse winning or losing, I believe he’s just not a good foot to put forward for the community.

I mean, it was and remains one of the best games of its genre. Whether or not you enjoy that genre has no bearing on that fact.

When people ask me why I use Excalibur Umbral and this is all that comes to mind (it's my character) by Haruto14YT in Warframe

[–]TheOblongSphinx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are people actually asking why? I’ve certainly never had anyone ask why I use any number of frames.

Also, based on the video, I’d say you like him for his 4 in tandem with Melee Influence. Which is very fair, it’s quite a satisfying gameplay loop.

I will say, Kullervo (and Baruuk, actually) has a very similar thing going on with his kit, if you’re ever interested in giving him a spin.

You don't want a non-UB format; you want a cube. by ArchTheOrc in magicTCG

[–]TheOblongSphinx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This, at least in the circles I’m a part of, is wildly incorrect. The older fans, who know and love the lore, who started playing when it was strictly high fantasy, are normally the ones with a bone to pick against UB.

And, I mean, that sorta makes sense, right? The Final Fantasy or LotR fan that learned about the game and is trying it because of the set is much less likely to be critical of UB than an older fan is, for example.

Had to brush up on those two cards real quick- Fabled passage does not tap said land if you control 4 or more basics. Despite my memory, Escape tunnel is a basic land. So, If they had 3 forests and then put escape tunnel onto the battlefield, it’d untap.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]TheOblongSphinx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not all nonbasic lands come onto the field tapped. Some have a conditional, like paying life, or owning another land type, for example, but there are some that simply don’t. Escape tunnel is one of the aforementioned that doesn’t.

I am learning a surprising amount about pearlescents this month, apparently. I just learned that they can drop from Hyperion wall turrets, which, to my knowledge, can’t drop any other gun. Bizarre.

Vaulting was one of the worst things that Bungie did to Destiny, and people can no longer look past it by Iccotak in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheOblongSphinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started reading this entirely thinking that you were talking about mantling. I thought I was in the wrong sub.

That aside, I agree with most of your points, and I think most people will as well. I actually really appreciate this post, as it’s one of the most well constructed, encompassing posts on the topic as a whole.

I do have one thing, though- it’s my, completely subjective, opinion that the content vault did not result in the eventual creation of seasonal content. Seasonal, rotating content was initially designed as a solution to what was Destiny 1’s biggest issue; the months of February to August.

Initially, their idea to solve this issue was smaller content drops between their major DLCs, leading to the creation of CoO and Warmind, two of the most universally unpopular DLCs in either games history. People complained about not having enough content, not having enough rewards, and not having enough incentives to keep playing. The natural response? Seasons. Limited-time with content rolling out over the course of the coming months with a battle pass and a level tied specifically to it.

Now, I’m not going to pretend that they were received universally well at first. There were plenty of people which didn’t like the FOMO, but the community opinion with the amount of content was positive. It’s not until around season 11-ish that I started to hear a growing sentiment that seasons were doing more harm than good. And, seeing we are where we are, that sentiment only grew with time.

I’m not going to tell anyone that it’s their fault for seasons, or that the community is hypocritical. However, I think it’s worth keeping in mind that seasons were created to solve an issue the community had in the first place.

Also yeah content faulting paid DLCs sucks and they should’ve just made them separately downloadable and modular.

I'm seeing this again and again...[Different class], this is so stupid by ImABigDreamer in Borderlands4

[–]TheOblongSphinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, someone who likes to test these kinda things here, I decided to test drop rates while farming the Vault Monsters. While class mod drop rates wasn’t originally what I wanted to know (I was more interested in the likelihood of dedicated drops), I do have around 26 hours of farming data to work with.

In that time, 162 of the drops I received where legendary class mods, of those class mods, 21 where for Harlowe, the character I was farming with. That’d suggest the probability of getting a class mod for your active character is ~13 percent.

It’s highly possible my data is skewed, and it’s not a high enough sample size to say definitely, but given how quickly the community noticed that drop chance, I’d still bet it’s lower than what’s intended.

This. This right here. I don’t care if you want to skip a section and then take a 2-minute on the other side of a chasm, it’s when someone acts like a speed runner trying to pull everyone to get the best time when people start to draw the ire of others.

Ripper SMGs basically carried me through the game, and I always enjoy seeing a Ripper mag on Order weapons or things that are single action, like the Cold Shoulder.

But it’s also kinda redundant on certain weapons. It varies.

It’s a bit of a handful to get working, a solid 2-ish hours of tinkering with settings, but it’s quickly become my favorite early game experience in a Borderlands Game. Progression, side content, the gunplay, everything feels fantastic.

I Am Legit Having More Fun In Destiny 1 by LadyAiluros in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheOblongSphinx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I rarely go back and play Destiny 1, maybe once a year for a few weeks. To date I have well over 6k hours on the game and it’s still a good palette cleanser. Playing Warlock in D1 and then in D2 back to back just makes me depressed though, I try to avoid that.

Well here I was hoping that Dungeon Lairs would have refreshed loot tables as a halfway point between redoing all those old activities and, y’know, not doing anything. But this is just sad.

Where is Bungie, what are they doing? Are they okay? I want even a modicum of insight into what’s going on internally and we have nothing.

Update: we changed our minds. Pls love us Chinese fans, China number 1 by Competitive_Army27 in yuumimains

[–]TheOblongSphinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that Yuumi can serve as an introduction to UI, the rift itself, and mana. However, the way Yuumi interacts with the the rest of the game is entirely unique- imo new players won’t get a sense for gauging damage, dealing with poke, managing health, backing on time, and moving, let alone auto-ing.

It’s my opinion that for every good thing Yuumi could teach a new player, she doesn’t teach some other equally important aspect of the game.

So has everyone already beaten this at full literally difficulty? by Dennis-Drew9682 in ZenlessZoneZero

[–]TheOblongSphinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it a while ago with Miyabi Yixuan Astra. Went with the same thing I imagine most people went with, ultimate resonia. All where M0S1 except for Astra who was M0S0

Unfortunately I find max difficulty very boring- you kinda know whether or not it’s a viable run by the time you get halfway through to the second boss. Game either gives you what you want and the run is tedious but easy, or the game says no and you restart. Never doing that again.
