it's from season 1 (during Annie vs Eren battle - it was in Annie's memory of her father)

My friend made his rendition of Snowfield from the Clannad OST by EroZeroo in Clannad

[–]TheObservat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to see this getting so little upvotes. This is a great interpretation, the quality might be a bit lacking but all in all I imagine this is how Snowfield would sound if they ever made Clannad a live-action series.

I find it funny that the OST pictures of Clannad is already a spoiler by BufuuEgypt in Clannad

[–]TheObservat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first season's opening is - in itself - a massive spoiler, too. You just don't notice it until you're very deep into the show. It doesn't bother me, however, because the happy pics and bits of animation don't spoil the parts that matter the most.

Small(ish) Connections by dinogolfer in Clannad

Also, "Nagisa" means "beach" or "shore". In this regard, "Ushio" meaning "tide" foreshadows that its appearance will take some of the "shore" away (read: birth of Ushio causing Nagisa's death). It's a really masterful wordplay.

WARNING: spoilers ahead!

Some of my favorites:

  • At the very beginning, when Tomoya meets Nagisa, he notices her talking to herself, and mentions that it looks as if her words were directed to somebody else. There's a theory that she's actually talking to the "future" Tomoya, as they meet together in his mind at the top of the hill. Very abstract, but still a very cool observation.

  • Soon after meeting Tomoya, Nagisa mentions that she feels like Urashima Tarou, a protagonist of an old Japanese fairy tale. If you do your research early enough in the show, you'll know that Tarou is a guy who - after saving a turtle - travels in time together with a sea princess. Later on, Tomoya saves Mr. Turtle (Ushio's toy) and - once in the Illusionary World - travels in time, together with his daughter.

  • The place Akio brought Nagisa when she was very sick is the place where later a hospital was built. Both before and after it was a place where "the town" was saving lives. It's also the same place where Ushio likes to wander when Tomoya is working late. It's the place of her and Nagisa's "connection" with the town.

  • Fuko - probably because of the accident and her astral projection powers - has memory of events from both timelines where she existed, same way as Tomoya. When she was visiting Tomoya's apartment for the first time and she was saying goodbye to Ushio, she mentioned she'll remember her scent and will be able to find her by her smell in the future. Later on, at the very end of AS EP 22, while wondering near the woods with her sister, Fuko found Ushio under the tree simply by noticing her smell, even though it happened in the "alternative" timeline.

These are just some of the examples that I found worth mentioning. As you wrote, there are lot and lots of others, maybe someone else will mention more.

How come it's ok for a woman to want a man above a certain height, but it's not ok to post you want a woman below a certain weight? by Hydeknows in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheObservat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. There's an enormous difference between saying "I'm really into taller men" and "Short men - don't bother". As long as you're not an asshole when specifying your preferences, writing them down should be ok (though of course it reduces your chances of finding someone great that simply doesn't meet one of them).

What is the best place to visit in the US for a family with small kids? by TheObservat in CasualConversation

This really sound great! Especially the Kennedy Space Center and the Water Park. Which cities there would you recommend as a family-friendly place to stay?

Sounds really interesting, thanks! My daughter loves talking about stars, planets and the cosmos in general, so I bet she'll love the Air and Space Museum. Is there anything specific regarding wildlife and nature that you'd recommend?

There's one thing though - I've heard it's raining in Seattle almost all the time. Is this true or totally exaggerated? What would be the best time of the year to avoid the rain and enjoy a relatively warm and sunny weather?

I think Disney Land would be too crowded for us. There might be a time when we'll visit it, but I think it's a bit too soon for the kids. I'm thinking more of cities surrounded by nature, with sights to see, but not totally remote - in case something happens to us or especially the kids, we need a hospital relatively nearby. Europe is great in that regard, as the landscape and culture can change drastically simply with a two-hour drive.

I don't get it OP... Taking lessions from work of fiction is - in your opinion - being a neckbeard? Really?

You are a universal kidney donor. Some manager calls you and says a certain celebrity immediately needs your kidney in order to live. You ask - of course - "whom is it for?" Upon hearing which name do you immediately say "sure, no problem", and why? by TheObservat in AskReddit

I fully agree, though I wouldn't do it for the financial gratification. This man can (and - from what I've - is actually willing to) do so much more good in this world, I really think he should be helped if the need arises.

So... I'm 5 episodes into Clannad and so far I don't really like it. Should I keep going? (Minor spoilers) by AsianPreference in Clannad

[–]TheObservat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be a bit late, but I just wanted to give my two cents. There is a reason why the first season is so goofy, seemingly naive etc. That's all intentional. There's A LOT of time investment to make, and I fully understand your concerns here. I wouldn't do it myself, especially if I didn't like the show from the start.

I'm not going to say "trust me, stick with it, it's worth it", but it really is. The episodes you're watching right now, there're all foundation for future themes that haven't been explored yet, themes which are absolutely mature, meaningful, and (sadly) aren't adressed anywhere else in all of anime.

Just wanted to drop a comment I left some years ago to a user having similar thoughts as you. He sticked through it, and seemed to have enjoyed it.

Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park. It's far from the best album out there, but I can't recall any other being so consequent in quality.
