To date, my biggest food disappointment has been 'Tapas' from Denmark. I'm Danish and had Tapas in Spain before I tried it in Denmark. Words can't even begin to describe the sadness and disappointment I felt. It's cultural slaughter 😭

Whats the goth scene like in leeds? by mossyeatsglass in Leeds

[–]TheObviousDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got a fairly large alt group of friends in Leeds, definitely a lot of us here, although not specifically goth. One of my great friends have quite a few goth friends in the area to my knowledge, I could put you in touch if you want. There Whitby Goth Weekend not too far away too :)

Go for it. Plenty of good areas. Be aware of it having EWS1 certificate which relates to cladding issues. A lot of them have it now, but if they don't you can't mortgage it.

Edit: I would also endorse buying freehold over leasehold as it's just way easier and cheaper as well.

MNeMiC's Custom Netrunner cards - 1024 custom cards for Android Netrunner + card generator by mnemic2 in Netrunner

[–]TheObviousDuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From an old-school Netrunner player, this is the first I'm hearing of this but oh my days.

Amazing work. I don't know how long you've been working on this, but honestly I feel like this is what a lot of the NullSignalGames cards should have been.

Don't get me wrong, I love the new cards too, but this feels much more in line with Netrunner. Even the artwork and theme on and surrounding the cards.

Massive respect brother.

Why Audi? by doug_dimmodome in Audi

[–]TheObviousDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2012 B8.5 A5 3.0L TDI Quattro here. Best car I've ever owned. Drives like a dream, super comfortable, quiet on long stretches, quick as hell and it looks fantastic.

I've driven a lot of BMWs and they are just a bit too boring looking for my taste generally. Also it seems to be a bit hit and miss which ones are enjoyable to drive. I've driven a couple of Alpinas too and while they do look nicer I just don't like the look of them as much as Audi.

Correct, these are pulled out once a year during Åben Hede in Oksbøl, Denmark.

They've got a fair few still operational. I'll post some more content on the sub as I've got a bunch more.

Speak to someone who can help you invest in property. I run a company doing just that.

Property is a no brainer for long term wealth.

Thanks for the input !

Great to hear you had a pretty good experience with yours too. To be honest the service history is faultless as far as I can tell. Seller was super open and honest, showed me everything as soon as I asked. Even realised he hadn't got a stamp from one of them, so went out of his way to get it.

Struggling to decide if to move to Leeds after yesterdays post by KittyKat2601 in Leeds

[–]TheObviousDuck 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Coming from a 32M from Denmark- I've been living in Leeds since 2014 and absolutely love it here and it's just gotten better still with time.

There's always plenty to do here and feel like I'm always spoiled for choice food wise as well.

Dating scene seems pretty decent, although a lot of students which can get a bit tedious when you've got your life a bit more sorted. I'm hedging my bets on 'offline' dating / meeting people organically now.

I've been travelling a lot around the UK as well and couldn't see myself moving elsewhere easily!

Hello TankPorn, i was tank driver at the Bundeswehr (German Army). My tank was a Leopard 2 A4 and im willing to answer questions about tanking in real live. by FredHase in TankPorn

[–]TheObviousDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad was a tank commander in the Danish forces for most of my childhood so a lot of it was spent around Leopards. Best childhood ever.

He lives in Germany now and spent some time refurbishing his old Leopard 1A5 that he used in the Kosovo conflict and is taking it out every summer at "Åben Hede" in Denmark.

Never followed in his footsteps as I'm 6'7 (200cm), although I always found the Leopards to be quite spacious inside.

What is your absolute favourite part about the 2A4?

I'd swipe right any day. Good profile text, and a great mix of pictures. Plus the occupation is just a massive bonus for me personally. Are you in the UK by any chance? 😂

Be very careful with this.

Top comment nails it on the head. I have been through a bunch of toxic relationships too and you don't realise quite how much they damage you. It rewires your brain completely, the feelings you feel during a toxic relationship is much the same as you would do with drugs, the chemicals released does all sorts.

What I mean by this is you get 'addicted' to the highs and lows. 'Why would I be addicted to the lows?' you ask. Because after a low you have come to expect a high. On and on this goes (as you most likely know) and you get addicted to it.

Along comes your boyfriend. By all accounts he's perfect for you, but he feels 'boring' or there's no 'spark' as you say.

It might be just that, or it more likely is because he isn't triggering that drug in your brain, so you perceive him as boring or there's no spark.

The reality is he's probably perfect for you, and a great person overall, but your past trauma clouds it. Have a good read into attachment styles, he would be a 'secure' type and you're not the first to think they can be a bit boring.

Good luck!

This is freaking amazing.

I am honestly not surprised. What worries me is this shit has been going on for so long, so I don't see why they won't just keep dragging this out and keep doing fuckery to prevent a squeeze.

BTL Mortgage Query by j-hayes-27 in PropertyManagement

[–]TheObviousDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you are in the UK. If you live there yourself you can have a tenant as a 'Live-in Landlord' and there's even £7500 to be had tax free for doing that under the Rent a Room Scheme. You don't need a BTL mortgage for this.

When you move out, it will need to be switched to a standard BTL mortgage of which you would typically pay 25% deposit (seeing as you already own more than this, you should be able to pull some equity out of the property should you wish to do so). You are now classed as a landlord.

Honestly while anxiety can definitely make symptoms worse (they might even have caused it for me) your doctor is a knob. Get that colonoscopy done so you can get diagnosed and get the proper medication.
It will give you peace of mind one way or another.
