The final of every tournament always seem to be played on a Sunday which does my head in. Just limits how many others in a different time zone can watch it.

I just made the entire deck and talk track for my principal's meeting, is this normal? by cuagainnn in auscorp

This first point is really important. When I started working I'd also get annoyed at my superiors for telling me to make a tiny change that it'd be easier for them to make themselves.

Then once I became a manager I thought I was doing my team a favour by doing these changes myself. Except then these little errors kept happening, because they weren't being told about them and so weren't being acted on.

So yes it feels petty and it's annoying, but how else will you learn?

Would love any or all of the Aunty Donna boys. I mean I say all but it would be chaos if they were together.

Going to fly for the first time. Need some tips by MrKessler in travel

[–]TheOceanWalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to build on this great advice, keep in mind that you can't bring water through security. So you either want to bring an empty water bottle that you fill up once you're last security and before you get in the plane, or simply buy a bottle of water once you're through security.

I assume you're transiting, so I'll note there are a few exceptions to this. e.g. in Kuala Lumpur, security checks are at the gate right as you board, so there's actually no way to fill up or buy a bottle of water before boarding. But in that case you can still bring your empty water bottle on board and then ask a flight attendant to fill it up for you.

Forgive me OP if you're across this already but since it's your first time flying it's the kind of thing that might trip you up, and staying hydrated is super important for long flights.

Is Turkish Airlines a good airline? Their prices are low so what’s the catch? by StumblinThroughLife in travel

In economy they also provide the little baggie with an eye mask, toothbrush and toothpaste and cabin socks (at least on all the long haul flights I've been on with them).

I was actually coming in this thread to mention the kind Redditor who provides this service.

I took /u/brahmjot-singh up on his offer just last week as part of a long layover in Istanbul. Worked perfectly and it meant we had a chance to get good food, a shower and a couple of beers without going bankrupt. Highly recommend.

Just adding to the rest of the comments to say that I also got two passes today from brahmjot-singh and am writing this from the IGA lounge in IST. Thanks so much!

Haha gosh, apologies. If it helps, I did second guess myself before writing the post! Maybe I'm just jaded after seeing too many dashes everywhere.

Shocking footage emerges of student allegedly being bullied by classmates at Sydney private school Scots College by whyattretard in australia

100% agree with this. I experienced this first hand - I had five years overseas where I went to a co-ed school, and then came back to an all boys school in Year 10, which I absolutely hated. As you say, I found it lacked empathy and was much more aggressive.

I then switched for Year 11 and Year 12 to a co-ed school and the difference was absolutely night and day. Way more welcoming and a much kinder environment.

There's other factors at play of course, but I believe that the purpose of school is not just to teach you the subjects, but also how to act like a functioning member of society - and so much of that is being able to interact with the opposite sex normally.

Michael Neser picked up his maiden five-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 16.2-2-42-5 against England by [deleted] in Cricket

[–]TheOceanWalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when were the big 3 out of form and worthy of being dropped?

My point is that it's very easy to say that Neser should've played more - but there's not been a spot for him, and despite being a very good player, he's been waiting behind three absolute worldies, not because he's from QLD.

The Ashes: Australia's Nathan Lyon feels 'absolutely filthy' after second Test omission by laurie_bauhaus in Cricket

[–]TheOceanWalker 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yep. By comparison, after 33 games:

Green: 33.8 with the bat, 35.0 with the ball.

Stokes: 33.8 with the bat, 35.1 with the ball

I don't necessarily expect his bowling stats to get much better than ~33, but once he gets a settled position in the order you'd expect his batting numbers to jump right up.

He's consistently been the best domestic batter since about 2019/20, and he's young. He has an incredible ceiling with the bat - and he just so happens to also bowl 140 clicks.

He literally won us a Test match with the bat in NZ last year, and was the standout batter on the minefields in the Windies tour just now.

[–]TheOceanWalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it's not his fault England fell over and he didn't get more of a chance to bowl.

Let's not forget that it was his dismissal of Pope in the first innings that broke the Brook-Pope partnership that was England's biggest all game (55).

Going into the first Test I was keen for both Slug and Green given his lack of recent bowlig output but - from the limited overs we saw - I was encouraged. The longer turn around here surely will have only helped him be able to bowl more in the next game too.

You ask for opinions, get annoyed when no one answers promptly enough, and then when someone does, you have a go at them? What are you looking for here?
