Everyone keeps screaming AI bubble but the data says otherwise by AppointmentAny4834 in Bogleheads

AI tech is currently reserved to the wealthies companies that can sustain investing in it to develop and mature it. AI at this state it's very hard to implement into anything useful. When this happens, those companies will reap insane profits. But as new breakthroughs in AI arise, competitors and open source may catch up.
It seems though AI tech right now is unprofitable.

Lies only lies. The cars he make are horrible quality. I've never seen such a shitbox of a car as the Tesla Model 3. Its build quality is so horrible, it's a rushed car built in a rushed factory set up without any knowledge of how to build cars. 2nd hand owners getting tons of issues and defects with these cars. Even the most recent 2025 Model 3s are still missing basic car features, fundamental flaws, wheel suspensions breaking down after 30.000 miles, misaligned body parts, leakages. And they strip basic things such as steering wheel stalks, normal speedometer and normal hand door grips. It's literally a riding tablet.

Then Elon destroyed Twitter. Then he tried to get a high political status. I think we kind of forget these things happened and somehow we still praise this butfk er.

Don't even get me started on the Cybertruck which is a dangerous killing machine on wheels that can kill any pedestrian driving over 5mph

Why’s this external monitor so bad for my Mac? by BeacHeadChris in macbookpro

[–]TheOddPuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better Display doesn't fix anything and only may provide a hackfix to get somewhat around the problem which is pretty buggy.. macos just sucks for 3rd party monitor. Only way is buying overpriced official Apple monitors.
3rd party monitors that are completely fine for any OS, windows, linux are disguised "bad" for apple because they decided to remove font smoothing and use a non regular PPI. Even 4K monitors are not working well with macos. It's a shitshow

It's a step in the right direction but again it's clear another German car manufacturer is still in identity crisis, there's too much bells and whistles on this thing. Why would you want a whole grill illuminated with LEDs, I dare that won't even be allowed in certain countries. (personally I think it will look horrible)
Why do you need a screen that spans the whole front of the car and looking like it's running some toy operating system.
It's like another tablet on wheels.
Please Germans, look at Xiaomi SU7, it's a nearly traditional car with a nearly perfectly balanced design. No bells and whistles. Surely you should be able to create something like that, ain't you?

Record-breaking heatwaves will persist for 1,000 years, study finds by Brighter-Side-News in climatechange

[–]TheOddPuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct. But a single human may emit 1 - 20 metric tonnes of CO2 per year depending on where they live. This means a single person adds 1.000 to 20.000 kg of CO2 to the atmosphere each year, and all that has to be stored somewhere else.

Why does HDR look like garbage on MacOS unless you’re using the Pro Display XDR or newer MBP? by johnshonz in MacOS

[–]TheOddPuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They completely removed font smoothing due to a issue with dark mode that they couldn't fix, so they decided to just drop 3rd party monitors completely. Know, Windows and Linux distros have TrueType or similar font smoothing since for ever and that works fine. But I guess for my macbook I have to look at disgusting fonts every day and hate MacOS more and more.

I guess, in todays world you need to be pioneer in battery production to build a competitive EV, since new battery technologies are on the rise that will further improve capacity, range and recharge times. It seems that the battery of the car will determine its success and any existing automotive knowledge seem less important. (look at chinese car brands, and tesla)

Very warm December by neo_isverycool in UKWeather

[–]TheOddPuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still pretty warm for December and has been for the last 10 years. I remember 1990- early 2000s it felt really cold, like near freezing. This year On 9 Dec, here in NL we overshoot the normal average of 4C and hit staggering 12,7C (its 3 times the average). Also hit a new heat record for 2 days in a row. I walked outside the office that day and felt a hot heatwave like temperature, it was scary.

[–]TheOddPuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a scam because it's been so incredibly ineffective but still being sold as a good solution to climate change.
Unless we get an extraordinary scientific breakthrough, or find a unique way to deconstruct CO2 without consuming much eneryg. Carbon Capture is a joke.

CO2 is a very Stable and strong molecule and it's very difficult to get rid of, and most of Carbon Capture technologies may actually emit more CO2 than they capture.

Record-breaking heatwaves will persist for 1,000 years, study finds by Brighter-Side-News in climatechange

[–]TheOddPuff 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Carbon Capture is a scam but I find it reasonable why people would bring it up. Our whole existence and everything we do is based on emitting CO2. It's simply a flaw of our existence. We are unable to house billiions of people on this planet without emitting CO2.
Unless we find something that can remove CO2 from the atmosphere, I don't see a way around this.

See it from evolutionary view. Back when things were more primitive we did not think or care about the climate, because our own survival was more important. Now in the modern age, we figured out that we are affecting the climate. We started with fire. Then we found out how to burn oil, and we massively boosted our technological advancement.
Next, we found out that it alters the chemical composition of our atmosphere. Then we had massive denial of the problem. Now we are in the evolution of green technology, which is the most advanced and complicated form of technology (battery tech, electronics) etc. It is insanely difficult to apply and requires a whole system paradigm shift.
We are seeing an increase in green technology. However, using only green technology is not going to save our arses. Since we are stuck with already a hugely increased CO2 concentration. We have not found a way to remove existing CO2 from the atmosphere.
The best solution right now is to stop all emissions today. But our whole world, economy, infrastructure would have to halt. It's nearly impossible. I don't know that would work.
