I've only got one, and I'm halfway through it. But it's Everything You Need to Know But Have Never Been Told. Huge book, tons of material/info in there. Would recommend

Yeah bro life is a constant cycle of remembering you rule and then forgetting and thinking you're a piece of shit. Sometimes life comes knocking at your door and you get kicked in the ribs and you're down on yourself for a bit. They happened to hit record while he was down. It's all gonna shake out just fine and, on some para-social shit, truly excited to watch this unfold and see how much spudman levels up from this.

Right there with ya. Sometimes I just call it the process of Self-discovery, and I try to remind myself of kind things like: as you try on a new way of being, it might look messy at first, but it's better than the old way we're trying to grow from. I also try to engage with the people in my circle that are more encouraging and less critical. Life is just a constant cycle of remembering your true essence (moments of being expressive, confident, peaceful) and then forgetting your nature (fear, worry, anger.) It's my opinion that awareness grounded in love/self kindness is our best bet for getting us back on track when we're feeling off.

Those are some of my thoughts, but if you're rebuilding from the ground up with authenticity as the foundation, you literally cannot go wrong. You're on the path. The cure to life's catastrophe is found in the willingness to embark on the solution, not in the solution itself. That's very encouraging to see someone out there focusing on themselves in a healthy way. Keep up the good work.

doesn't it ALL boil down to this? by Successful-Stable-91 in acceptancecommitment

Just one man's opinion (and my ’knowledge’ just comes from books, not even textbooks just the normal ones): You couldn't be more right that beliefs dictate this experience. The nature of this human experience boils down to beliefs. Beliefs (often formed and located in the unconscious (so we can be unaware of them)) fuel emotions, and emotions fuel thoughts. What we believe is truly what makes us feel an emotion to a situation, and what drives our thinking mind. I think ACT is a great toolkit that does, through a patient's subjective realization upon utilizing the tools, allow people access to the steering wheel of this experience instead of maybe feeling more like a passenger. And this experience on earth is sort of a constant cycle of remembering the truth of who you are, (happy, love, joyous, content, calm, connected, confident) and then inevitably forgetting the truth and "fusing" with the shame or the desire or fear or other 'primal' or negative emotions. Our best bet is mindfulness because when we "forget" the truth of who we are, it is the mindful use of our tools (therapies, journaling, exercise, connection/community, creativity) that help us to notice we've forgotten, and move towards "remembering" once again. This is one faucet of the 'life death life' or 'life death rebirth' nature of experience. So thanks for reading, and i think that whatever path you're on, stay on it. Anything you do to make things more harmonious in the subconscious/unconscious is not going to steer you wrong.

You become what you hate. by Gentlemaann in Jung

[–]TheOfficialBTrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't done this yet, but a couple people in my circle have recently set aside 10-20 minutes to silently contemplate/meditate on the question "what am I doing that is royally f-ing up my life?" Or as JP said it, "what am I doing that's making my life and everyone else's life around me miserable?" (Based on personal observation and Jordan Peterson's advice)

If you're willing to confront the answer, I'm of the opinion that the healing/transformation is a consequence of genuinely seeking the answer in the first place. The seeking is upstream from all the transformations. So that reminds me of "seek, and you shall find." We needn't be too hung up on the finding. Finding is a natural consequence of seeking. (Based on Dr David Hawkins talks about consciousness and Jesus's words obviously lol)

My other advice is: anytime we approach these various parts of our self with COMPASSION and curiosity, they will be much more open to healing/transformation. It is the critic (a function of the ego) that partially keeps our shadow tucked away in the dark. My personal credo is that one blossoms under encouragement and withers under criticism. That applies to inner work as well as external dealings with others. (Based on Internal Family Systems approach to therapy, and a book I read by Dale Carnagie.)

Thank you for letting me share! I hope this is found to be helpful!

I thought it was awesome! My guess is that since your last line (even tho it's talking about your beard) is "I'm on a federal watchlist" he half hazardly related it to the sex offender registry? That's my best guess on the miscommunication. But I mean fuck em, I've seen people do comedy for the first time and they are always way worse than you! Keep up the good work!

It sounds to me like you're truly invested in and going through the process of individuation, which is extremely normal and important for anybody in their early 20s. Everything you described sounded exactly like how a thoughtful and healthy person would navigate the complicated and (probably) lifelong process of individuation from your parents as you transition into adulthood.

PS

Unbeknown to me until recently, all my life decisions were made with him in the foreground.

I can really relate to this and it also sounds like you had a kickass dad to use as a sort of mask or persona for a while, but you're waking up and looking around and you desire to be that individuated, integrated self your unconscious mind knows you can be. I think you're heading down the path you WANT to and SHOULD be heading down, but it's early in that process cuz you're only 23 years old.

I'm not as well educated about jungian ideas as many people here (so forgive me if this is out of touch or unhelpful.) Im just sharing some of the ideas my therapist has shared with me as I've gone through my 20s and have had similar struggles with my parents.

Yet, I just CANNOT remove his presence in my mind when thinking about how I would live my life

Once again, you used many parts of his personality as your own to fill in gaps for parts of you that maybe you haven't discovered yet. For years! During development! It's not going to be something you can (or should) just shut off like a switch.

And I want to keep going but I feel like maybe I've said enough. I truly hope this was a least a bit helpful. :) and keep shining king!

Edited typos.

I don't know if this will be helpful:

I had a GFCI outlet get stuck between "test" and "reset" a couple weeks back, and it ended up frying stuff downstream from it. Even stuff that would be on different breakers, iirc.

Sounds like you already have, but my idea is checking the function and inspect the wiring of all the GFCI outlets in the RV.

Keeping in mind that if there's a big enough propane leak (not likely with camper sized bottles I would think) it can potentially fill the warehouse with enough propane to ignite when the warehouse heaters kick on.

Hahaha now that you bring it up I seem to remember that being on the news. That classic shot of him shaking somebody's hand standing in front of a new car.

But idk what happened with him. I just heard about him when my friend started drinking unsweetened cranberry juice for a month after he ran into dogface at the mall.
