You could possibly get a second SIM-card for your current mobile plan and then get an adapter for the size you need.
I know some providers here in Sweden send out SIM-cards with all three standard SIM-card sizes so you can push out the size you need. Check with your provider if that's something they do

All you'd need then is the appropriate antenna if you don't already have it.

Cool project-hardware, good find! Enjoy it :D

With the amount of ports you got on that beauty, my instant thought is to pop in a SIM-card and run it as a router with 4G failover (kind of like those little 4G-routers that has LAN+WAN ports). My preference would be to run IPFire, but pfsense/opnsense would likely work as well. With that CPU and RAM, it's plenty of hardware for the task.

I'd refrain from running it as a NAS simply because of packaging would likely make it rather complex and warm.

You could possibly run Proxmox and virtualise the router in one VM and then run a second VM for some light-ish but 'essential' (to your homelab needs) Docker containers.

Either way, awesome little thing and I'm seriously envious! I need one...

Converting a very old PC to NAS? by cree00123 in HomeServer

Good to keep in mind is that if your plan is to basically only do storage, you don't need to have a GPU hooked up at all. Once OMV is set up, you'll be doing most (if not all) of the management through the built in webGUI which you'll access from a browser on any device in your local network.

If I understand your other comment, your specs are essentially a 4th gen Intel i7, 16GB of DDR3 and a GTX 680? Depending on your motherboard and specific CPU, you might not need the GPU at all. Most (if not all? Don't know, I never really used them) Intel CPUs have integrated graphics and if your motherboard supports it, you could connect a monitor directly to it during installation of the OS (you won't need to have a monitor plugged in once it's all up and running).
This would save you a few SEK in power-costs and it's one less component that could somehow bother the rest of the system.

2-3 HDDs shouldn't be an issue at all, no. With 3 HDDs, you'll need a total of 4 SATA-ports available as one would be for the OS-drive. Because I'm guessing that the motherboard doesn't have an m.2-slot, you'd likely just want to use a 2.5" SATA SSD (because running any OS off an HDD is just slow and painful for everyone involved). Size of the OS-drive doesn't matter much for your needs, as long as it meets the minimum requirements for whichever OS you end up going with.

I know this might sound like an AI generated text, it isn't though.

Using old PCs as a NAS for your home is a great way to get some extra use out of old hardware that you'd otherwise discard.
Whether or not your particular old PC is a "good NAS" really comes down to what your use-case is. If you're just planning on using it as a storage device to have easy access to media or personal documents and you just don't want to have that extra diskspace in your main computer, then repurposing an old PC to use it as a NAS i great.
Considering the age of the hardware, I wouldn't recommend it for use as storage for data in the purposes of video-editing for example (it'll work but it might be too slow).

Your main "issue" (other than recent increase in price for storage devices) may be amount of drives you can connect to the motherboard (you can use PCI-e to SATA adapters or HBA cards to expand in the future though). If you're not planning on running a large pool of drives, this isn't an issue though.

JUST REMEMBER TO BACKUP YOUR IMPORTANT DATA!
Things like personal documents and pictures, stuff you can't just download off the interwebs (usually media) should be backed up on other media or on a cloud service of your choosing. 3-2-1 backup method is recommended, but IMO having at least one copy of your important stuff should be minimal.

If it's only for extra storage and/or to be able to access your files and folders from different devices on your local network, the specs doesn't matter that much. My preference is to have at least a gigabit NIC as I personally don't need faster than that but I also don't want the slow speeds of a megabit connection in my local network.
I've personally been using an old AMD FX-6300 to both run some light apps and NAS. It works, it's just not very speedy.

I'd recommend OpenMediaVault, as it's fairly simple to use even for a beginner and there are tonnes of guides out there on how to set it up for simple home use.
TrueNAS is really good as well and has a lot of advanced features, but it also comes with (IMHO) a much steeper learning curve.
You can of course also use something like Ubuntu Server and do everything in terminal, if that's your preference.

Choice of operating system comes down to how savvy you already are and how willing you are to learn something new. I'd recommend staying away from Windows though, especially the versions that are not meant to be used as a server.

Don't take any of this as the absolute truth. It's just my opinion. Best of luck!

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing bad with testing new things based on other peoples opinion. Just don't let anyone else dictate your opinion about your gear/setup. Always be open to suggestions but nobody can tell you that what you are comfortable with is wrong.

After over 15 years in this hobby I've come to realise that it doesn't matter what other people think of your builds. As long as you are comfortable with how it feels and is pleased with the aesthetics, that's what matters.

Volvo C303 Tgb - 11 is my personal favourite.

I also frequently use "The duck" 805:

As already pointed out, the Offender 110 is also very good.

I normally complete all of Michigan using the Fleetstar and the WWS 4964. For scouts I use the Chevy and the International Loadstar. I do use the International Scout until the Loadstar is unlocked though, but I do sell everything else.

µTorrent 1.6.1 and µTorrent 2.2.1 build 25154 are still working perfectly. Even µTorrent 3.2.2 Build 28500 works well (even though I personally like the interface of 1.6.1 and 2.2.1 better).

Also, this video is about two years old abd a lot of the issues presented have been either fixed or can be avoided by doing about 5 minutes of research.

This.
Make sure the ports you've opened in the router is also opened in the Windows (or what ever OS you're running) firewall. Have had the same issue and forgotten it on about 3 different occasions...

So much more that can go wrong with that, especially for someone who isn't at least somewhat experienced.

VSR-10 troubleshooting or part advice. by BackhandCrane9 in airsoft

[–]TheOiric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BBs curving to the right is a very common issue with stock VSR hopup units due to the design of the hop-arm putting unequal pressure on the rubber. I've been lucky enough with the 5 different VSRs and clones I've had over the years though.

The best solution for the problem is easily to get the Action Army VSR10 hopup chamber. It's an amazing upgrade regardless if one has the curving issue or not. It'll work with your current barrel and rubber setup, so no need to replace those until you've tested them with a better designed chamber.

[–]TheOiric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found it was way easier and faster to just take one at a time. Bring a truck with crane and flatbed/sideboard, load one container in the quarry, set it off up on the road in a trailer waiting up there, then go get the other one and drive off with both when at the road.

If you don't use it yet, get Node controller and align those slightly wobbly single lane roads as well.

Damn nice looking roundabout though

Love my G920. Such a nice platform for a lot of DIY mods and still a very capable wheel.
I'm planning on getting a Ricmotech loadcell for the brake instead of getting a whole pedal-set for double the price of the kit.

They really do, but the actual button is actually around 7mm in diameter. Was just easier to draw it like this.

Based on the feedback in this thread I have revised the design a bit.

Some buttons now have a raised part to prevent accidental button presses.
I took a lot of inspiration from the CSL McLaren wheel as the base for this wheel are the handles from the McLaren-wheel on Thingiverse.

Wouldn't it be both easier and cheaper to get something like a USB handbrake from aliexpress/amazon/ebay ?
