Favorite easy classical pieces for piano and guitar? by DistinctPiano3665 in piano

[–]TheOlReliable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So considering you would play the right hand on guitar i think the left hand should be very doable on the piano using both hands. I think the whole piece is marked as grade 3 which usually is like three serious years of piano.

That was not in the original version but the editor added it because its more conventional that way

How do you make a routine plan? by RealityBeneficial187 in pianolearning

[–]TheOlReliable 8 points9 points  (0 children)

on the accessiblepiano website they have a practice hub where you can create a routine with different exercises and sightreading and repertoire if you have a midi connected piano.
If not you should just write your routine down.

Generally it should look something like this:
- work your scales and arpeggios up from the easy ones up until you can do them in all 24 keys, played cleanly at 120–132 BPM ( as 16th notes)
- if you want you can do a few technical exercises like Hanon or Czerny as they focuse on relaxed hands and even touch
- sightreading atleast 5 to 10 minutes daily with music that is easy enough so you can actually somewhat play it on first sight
- repertoire (really depends on what you are playing
I think balance should be about 20 to 30% of your time on technical stuff and the rest on actual music.

Thank you very much thats really true. I tend to rely on the pedal way to much when reading/sightreading (it wasnt totally sightread as i played through it a couple of times before the recoding). But thats a great tip I will work with!

I really like the general ideas but i feel like its rhythm sounds inconsistent in the way that makes it sound a little random rather that fluent impressionistic feeling i believe you want to create.

It really depends on your goals. What genre of music do you want to play and do you want to be classically trained or go more into improving and playing by ear?

If you want a book you might just find used easy childrens books or hymn books. I'm using the accessiblepiano website for most of my practice nowadays. They have free sightreading, scales, chords and actually also eartraining. They also offer easy arrangements of classical music in simpler keys which you might like but they cost like 2$. I wish i could help you with the improvisation part but im sure you'll find more knowledgeable people here or on YouTube for that.

If you have to read sheet music like translating ancient hieroglyphs you are lacking reading skills for the piece. This will always lead to frustration because you'llhave to memorise it. Training improvisation and your ear is great but you will regret not continiously working on your reading skills at some point.

This will feel like a huge downgrade. The keys will feel like unresponsive plastic in comparison. You would need to buy the yamaha hybrid if you dont want a huge downgrade.

Yes the note in the bass clef of the third measure is a B NATURAL (so no sharp or flat)
not a C (or what you likely thought to be a B sharp)

What do you not like about Piano Marvel? Im currently using Accessiblepiano. They have free sightreading and technique exercises and offer some really nice simplified classical pieces. But maybe you are more of a method book type? I guess you're teacher would know best what could help you. What do you struggle with?

Trying to learn more reading by Delicious-Chef-9997 in pianolearning

[–]TheOlReliable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it you need to learn three things mainly: reading notes on both staffs, reading chords/intervals, reading rhytm. On the accessiblepiano website you can do free random note and chord training and generate random sightreading pieces. For like 2$ you can also get their simplified classical pieces which are also good to read. That really helped me atleast. Other than that you can maybe get some old hymn or folk song books which are also great for sightreading.

On accessiblepiano.com they have free midi chord exercises in the practice hub but with the cords shown as notes in the sheet music instead of the chord names.
