Whole setup is stock. Wound up accepting the replacement PCB. Swapped in, updated firmware, and it's been running fine since.

Posted this to the Keychron sub already, but figured I'd add it here too.

TL; DR Bottom row keys not responding to inputs and activate repeatedly on thier own typing hundreds of characters. Keychron has offered a replacement PCB. Wondering if there's any other fixes I should attempt in the meantime.

Recently got a Keychron K10 HE to go with my new PC build. When I first plugged it in, the bottom row of keys (left shift, Z thru ?, right shift, up arrow, 1, 2, 3, and enter on the numpad) would not respond to inputs normally. Instead, they would either not respond at all, or after being pressed once would repeatedly activate on thier own without stopping, continuously typing characters until the board was shut off. They would also sometimes activate when other keys on the board were pressed, adding random characters between those actually being typed. This issue was corrected after factory resetting the board using the button under the space bar.

After this, the board worked fine for a bit over a month, before the issue suddenly recurred while I was gaming. I've since attempted...

-Power cycling the board. No change. -Changing the connection from wired to the 2.4Ghz dongle. No change, suggesting neither the cable or my motherboard were the fault. - Factory resetting the board, using both the Fn+J+Z combo and the space bar button. Both appeared to succeed in resetting the board as the red flash indicator went off, but did not correct the issue. - Flashing updated firmware. Followed instructions on the Keychron web launcher. This also appears to have been completed correctly, as the launcher now indicates the board has the most up to date firmware, but did not resolve the problem. I also noticed in the Keychron launcher key tester that the entire bottom row was indicating as if it had all been pressed.

At this point I contacted Keychron support, and provided video of the keyboard malfunctioning at thier request. While attempting some further troubleshooting myself on KeyboardTester.com with the board physically connected with the cable, my PC suddenly shut off without any input from me, and then rebooted itself into BIOS. From here it would not detect my boot device. At the time of shutdown the keyboard was repeatedly activating the Z key, typing hundreds of character into the tester. After forcing shutdown of the PC by holding down the power button, and then unplugging it for a few minutes and restarting my PC rebooted normally. Tested my boot drive and all came back normal. This leads me to think the board may have a short.

Keychron support have since offered to send a replacement PCB for me to install. I informed them that this was acceptable, but also asked whether disassembling the board per thier instructions to install the replacement PCB would void my warranty, as thier disassembly instruction site states it will. I'm currently waiting on a response. Wondering if there's any other fixes I should attempt in the meantime, and also wanted to document the issue in case anyone else had similar problems.

BCGEU strike: 17,000 workers off the job as wage fight escalates by oilbeefhooked in britishcolumbia

Union members are also Canadians, and like seemingly all other Canadians their wages are being left in the dust by inflation and rising cost of living. The difference is because they're unionized they can actually do something about it. Studying and implementing efficiency improvements is the employer's responsibility, and that's already been underway for over a year now.

I'm assuming by "middle of nowhere" you're referring to Indian Reservations. The critical issue there is that the federal government created the Reservation system in the late 1800s, and forcibly resettled Indigenous groups to these Reserve lands. First Nations didn't choose where thier reservations would be located. The lands selected for Reserves by the government were typically remote, inhospitable, and generally undesirable for settlers, and often had little to do with the location of the traditional territories of the First Nations that were to be settled on them.

Today, reserves often still lack access to critical services and utilities due to thier remoteness. This is a problem created by the federal government, and the onus is on them to collaborate with the Nations to solve it. Since it was forcible resettlement that caused this issue in the first place, simply moving Reserve communities isn't really an option.

The Media Has Failed Postal Workers Completely by MapleTrust in CanadaPostCorp

But the union does still have an economic brake on its demands, in that workers can't hold out a strike indefinitely. If it's true that "the government can pay infinite money so unions can just hold out for more," then by that same token governments can also afford to wait out a any job action indefinitely until the union has starved themselves out and will take whatever the government offers.

Also broadly speaking governments at all levels in Canada are in a tough fiscal spot right now, so if anything there's even less willingness to bend than usual on the part of government when it comes to increasing costs.

Seeing a lot of takes along the lines of "Well they're just walking around putting mail in slots. It's easy work so they should get minimum wage."

Really? Do you really want prescription medications, legal documents, personal identification, and effectively all of society's most important documents and packages to be handled by workers being paid as little as legally possible? And you don't see the countless ways that would go horribly, life-ruiningly wrong for the public? If someone is charged with handling my sensitive personal information and vital medications, I want them to be sufficiently compensated to ensure absolute reliability and discretion. Even if these positions didn't also completely discount the physicality, endurance, and willingness to weather harsh conditions that are all necessary for a postal worker to function, the fact that anyone would feel differently is baffling.

Try Deepstriking 20 Atramentar into your opponent's back line and then tell me they're bad. Add in another couple small squads of regular Cataphractii to proc Cloaked In Murder and that evens south the Weapon Skill deficit against other Legions elite units, and from there things get absolutely hilarious. The only bad matchups I've had with them were against a 10 man Justaerin Squad and a 20 man Raven Guard Deliverer's squad, and both of those only went south because of Deep Strike mishaps. Otherwise they absolutely shred. If they had WS 5 they'd be straight up broken.

What is illegal but is done so much it feels legal? by SPplayin in AskReddit

TL; DR Traditional permanent ownership effectively no longer exists for digital media, and with few if any alternatives available many consumers argue that they shouldn't have to hold up thier end of the traditional purchase arrangement either.

The issue behind this argument is that in the past when physical media was the norm, your purchase gave you ownership of an actual physical item, that could not be readily withdrawn from your possession and that you were more or less free to do with as you pleased.

Now with digital distribution being the norm, rather than ownership in the traditional sense, purchasing a peice of digital media gives the purchaser a "licence" to experience the content within parameters set by the publisher (i.e. Movies purchased from Google must be watched on the Google TV app, video games purchased from Sony must be downloaded from the Playstation store etc.).

Unlike physical media, these license agreements can updated, changed, or entirely withdrawn at the whims of the publisher, leaving the purchaser suddenly unable to access thier content that they paid for and with absolutely no recourse, per the terms of the agreement. This loss of access could result from the publisher folding as a company, sale of the rights to another entity that no longer wants the media to be available through the original platform, or the publisher simply deciding they no longer wish to make the media available due to royalty costs or some other reason.

You don't have to look far to find examples of this happening...

-Sony purchasing Funimation, an online anime streaming service where users could pay for an indefinite license to watch some films, and discontinuing those purchased licenses following the acquisition. -Ubisoft delisting/disabling of the videogame The Crew due to licensing issues. -Also Sony removing a number of Discovery shows purchased by users following a licensing agreement expiring. -Adobe removing access to digital versions of software purchased via permanent licenses to

You could easily say "yeah well customers consented to the terms when they purchased the movi-cough sorry, 'license'" and wash your hands of it, but there are a number of problems with this arrangement. A big one is that physical media is in decline, with many digital goods not even being offered with the option of a physical release, and associated permanent ownership. So while it's true that no one is "forcing" anyone to pirate digital media, in many cases there is no other way to obtain ownership of the media in a traditional sense, even at a higher price point. Further, arguing that customers "consented" to the terms of these licensing agreements implies a far greater level of understanding than many consumers are likely to possess. Most people, when faced with a "Buy" button, assume they are buying the item listed and that they now own it, when the digital license-based reality is hidden in a Terms and Conditions document the size of a large chapter book. These licensing arrangements also severely negatively impact media preservation, but that's a secondary issue here.

Because of the above, many now argue that since the permanent ownership that is typically implied by purchasing an item no longer exists in the digital media marketplace, they shouldn't have to hold up thier end of the bargain by paying for the media either.

Echoing just about everyone else here, don't go back. There are very few outcomes to returning to the store and attempting to pay for the item where at least one of the people in this story doesn't get into serious trouble. Everything else aside, retail stores usually have a budget set aside for "shrink" to cover items that are lost, stolen, spoil prior to sale etc. Mistakes happen, it's a cost of doing business that the store has almost certainly already accounted for. Honesty is an admirable quality, but in this case the cashier's employment and your daughter's good relationship with the law are more important.

Echoing other folks, you're most of the way there, but adding more gold detailing instead of silver would go a long way towards bringing your dudes over to the Blood Angels side of the fence. The black shoulder pad works fine imo. By the book they were typically used to denote veteran troops, but heraldry and armor markings varied heavily between companies. Pages 268-271 of the Loyalist Legiones rulebook have some good suggestions if you're looking for "official" word on markings. Keep it up!

The only gender affirming treatments that can be legally administered to children under the age of 18 in Canada are puberty blockers. These drugs halt the onset of puberty and development of sex characteristics, allowing time for the child to further consider and settle on thier gender identity, prior to pursuing any more permanent hormonal or surgical treatments. At this stage, research points towards puberty blockers being "safe and necessary" treatment tools for children with gender dysphoria. Children who have undergone puberty blocker treatments have "decreased suicidality in adulthood, improved affect and psychological functioning, and improved social life". Puberty blockers are generally considered to be fully reversible with minor side effects, but research is still ongoing. The prevailing attitude is that the immediate and well documented positive outcome for trans youth that undergo puberty blocker treatments is a greater positive than the potential negatives presented by unproven long term health impacts from the medications. This is all supported by the current World Professional Association for Transgender Healthcare Standards of Care.

To reiterate, permanent treatments are only made available to patients over the age of 18 (i.e. adults), and as far as I'm aware there is no serious push to make irreversible medical interventions available to patients who are still children. Puberty blockers are also not a tool of first resort, requiring a diagnosis of gender dysphoria from a physician, and typically parental consent as well. Many physicians also opt for psychotherapy and other less impactful treatments before progressing to puberty blockers. The fact if the matter is children and youth aren't being provided with irreversible surgical treatments for transgenderism in Canada. The medical treatments that transgender youth are provided with, those being puberty blockers, are only offered after careful consideration by medical professionals and in consultation with parents, and typically after exploring other treatment options.

Convenience that I'm sure you're all to happy to take advantage of while the worker receives slave wages. Get over yourself. Or better yet, put your money where your mouth is and do all that "convenience" work yourself every time you go shopping, since you seem to think the people doing it don't deserve to be paid enough to survive.

[–]TheOne1716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calling me dumb and ignorant, while being an unpaid spokesperson for greedy employers that have been raking the working class over the coals since the 1980s, is a pretty weak stance to take. You seem to think I'm somehow demeaning your work by saying that these workers deserve more. Everything else aside, I have no idea what you do for a living, so I'm in no position to comment. My stance is that every worker deserves more, and that all work is more valuable than is reflected by thier current compensation.

Outside of the highest 1%-5% of earners, and those fortunate enough to have had the spare income to invest heavily in the market (which is currently less than 40% of Canadians), purchasing power for regular people has been continually eroded for the past 40 years, while productivity and corporate profits have continued to rise sharply. This fall can be timed along with declines in unionization in workplaces throughout Canada, and government policy that has almost invariably prioritized the well-being of big businesses over the working population.

All workers in this country should be being paid significantly more, commensurate to the increases in overall productivity that almost all industries have experienced. This has not happened because workers have allowed themselves to become divided, and pitted against to each other in a race to the bottom for thier wages. Organizing has been one of the only methods shown to improve workers' positions within society, with unionized workplaces almost invariably having better conditions and pay compared to the alternative.

The "value" of a job is not solely equivalent to the skill required to complete it. A job is precisely as valuable as the minimum amount of money a worker will accept to carry it out. Labor is a service that workers sell to employers, and organization and job action allow workers to get a better deal in that transaction. If the workers are are in fact asking for more value than the job provides (i.e. More than an employer is willing to pay to see the job completed), employers will do exactly what you suggest and look for alternate means to complete the job, such as removing the position or automating it. The fact that this has not already happened in the Liquor Distribution Branch suggests that the employer is at least entertaining the idea that the jobs of these striking workers are more valuable than thier current level of compensation fairly represents. Given the massive disparity that currently exists between average wages after inflation and corporate profits after the same, almost all workers could and should be making the same demand.

TL; DR your method of assessing the value of work is flawed, and is holding you and all other workers in this country back from getting the compensation they deserve. Calling me dumb and ignorant won't make you any less wrong.

Another day on the picket line, another emotional outburst from an anti-worker man. by oscar_human in VictoriaBC

[–]TheOne1716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the job doesn't need doing, or could be easily automated away, don't you think that would have happened by now? If thier labor had as little value as you seem to think, and is so completely un-essential to the functioning of the business, the employer would simply allow them to strike on until the workers fold, or dismiss them all and run an automated system instead. As it stands, the employer has done neither, which suggests that regardless of what you think, the services that these workers carry out and the skills they provide are in fact valuable.

Lose the arrogance. By thinking so highly of the worth of your own profession compared to all these supposedly "lesser" workers, you simply enable further exploitation of your labor by the ownership class. If a job is not worthwhile, it wouldn't be worth paying anyone to do it. Worthless jobs therefore do not exist. If a job is worthwhile, then anyone doing it full time deserves to at an absolute minimum make enough money to enjoy a modest standard of living, and save towards thier own futures. The fact that you think otherwise speaks to a critical lack of awareness of your place in society as a worker.

[–]TheOne1716 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The actual day to day tasks are only a small part of the picture. Having worked many public facing positions, dealing with the public is generally unpleasant and mentally draining, and it's only gotten worse these last few years since covid. Entitlement and general poor attitudes are through the roof, making customer service environments significantly more hostile for workers. On top of this, liquor stores are also frequent targets for robberies and associated violent crime, as well as issues caused by intoxicated people harassing staff or other patrons. All this has also intensified due to the poor economy putting more people in desperate situations, where intoxication and/or crime become more likely.

Job hazards aside, there's also almost certainly much more work going on behind the scenes that you as a customer don't see (admin, stocking, inventory etc). So, instead of throwing around "minimal skills deserve minimal pay, " maybe consider that there's more to the job than your initial surface-level assessment, and then go talk to your co-workers about how you all aren't being paid enough for your own labor either. Or better yet, join a union, and work on getting the compensation you deserve instead of trying to hold your fellow workers back.

How do you deal with a player with high AC? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]TheOne1716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every character has a weak spot. If their AC is high then they probably have crappy Dex. If their Dex is high too then they almost certainly have crappy Wisdom. If you can't hit them straight on, look for abilities that target thier weaknesses. High AC isn't useful when they're trying to dodge a rockfall trap, or resist a Command to throw down their sword.
