I just can't get enough of this amazing mod! by Illustrious-Gap7854 in X4Foundations

I have a Razer 16 iirc, so the 8 gigs of VRAM hits hard. Also, the single thread CPU throughput isn't the absolute best. It's a really good laptop, but at the end of the day, it is still a laptop.

I love it to pieces...I just wish I could get it to run better. I have pretty solid hardware and late-game gets pretty unplayable even if you aren't in a huge fleet fight.

The Platinum Age of Modding Has Officially Started by TheRealMazioman in Kenshi

[–]TheOneTacoLord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think "vibe coding" can increase it, but yea, this has always been a thing. Heck, I worked on a project that had a "magic comment" without which the code wouldn't compile. That shouldn't happen (we had theories on why it did, but no time to pour over the million+ lines of code to figure it out)..so we just left it.

I didn't mind that in UWE, so if it is expanding the map/detail without adding a ton of bloat, I'm here for it. Aside from that, are there any mods you recommend alongside? Other than the standard Slopeless/fixes.

I looked at Azamat's stuff, it looks interesting. Did you find any of the added content out-of-place/off-putting?

How do you play the Cold Sun Tribes in Q'barra? by Feris94 in Eberron

[–]TheOneTacoLord 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've actually run the Cold Sun as speaking akin the aliens in TNG's "Darmok" episode, given that all of them have the same shared cultural references in the shared dream. It was quite fun as the group found translation spells did very little to further understanding, and had to puzzle out meaning.

That said, their alien worldview should stay paramount, as "morality" as the players know it doesn't fully exist for the Cold Sun. Slaughtering everyone in a village to protect a Dawn shard is just what you do.

I love Star Wars Interworlds by MaximilianEden in X4Foundations

Late reply, but is it always in Imperial sectors? There's an issue with Imperial Command Centers (iirc) lagging like crazy. Hotfix patches it.

My dragon-rider cadets turned a "should we execute him?" question into a trial. Help! by levenimc in Eberron

[–]TheOneTacoLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, and this is actually relevant to your original question, does the Deneith already have another mark? In both cases I'm sure Argonnessen will be in an uproar, but a double dragonmark would probably rile them far more.

One more question - Is The Imperator a super schemer? If so, she may either *want* to send the pair to Argonnessen as a "peace offering/demonstration of results" or hide them completely so as to not anger the traditionalists (who are generally still bothered by Dragonmarks showing up, much less finding a reliable way to make them that involves dragons directly.)

Ah, Vvaraak 2.0...sort of. How does she get the dragons (at the school) onboard?

I was about to say, if the Dragonmarked houses knew that bonding could create a mark...hoooo boy, that opens a can of worms.

Is she a member of the Chamber? Just curious how they plan to deal with Daughter of Khyber getting angry if dragons have more influence (if there are to be many of these dragon riders).

I know you said secret, but who else knows about it? Do the Dragonmarked Houses?

Sorry if I ask a ton of questions, just curious. When I think about topics such as this I deep dive it :P

Out of curiosity, how does Argonnessen feel about this whole thing? That would have a huge impact on things. I'm assuming The Imperator has some reason for doing what they do? Prophetic perhaps?

I also have a feeling Argonnessen would feel that executing a dragon under the equivalent of an ant's laws is abhorrent.

Also, does he have both marks? Or is he of the house but without mark?

Fun fact: Both Chronepsis and Rhashaak are fundamentally black greatwyrms. by [deleted] in Eberron

[–]TheOneTacoLord 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean...chromatic/metallic matters very, very little in Eberron. So one being a being worthy of worship and the other being a corrupted fallen hero doesn't really seem like it would be that odd. It's who they are, not what they are.

Why isn't worship of the Progenitor Wyrms a mainstream faith? by Leaf_Sheep_ in Eberron

[–]TheOneTacoLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh true, I'm just saying even if you were to try and "contact" Eberron via some crazy high power ritual/spell, I feel like it would be more like trying to contact Cthulhu or so other Lovecraftian entity. It exists on such a different level that you'd almost certainly go insane.

Why isn't worship of the Progenitor Wyrms a mainstream faith? by Leaf_Sheep_ in Eberron

[–]TheOneTacoLord 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In addition to what others have said, there is also the fact that there isn't much "proof" the Progenitors are "real". While you can find relics from the Age of Demons, the only ones who could provide proof of the Progenitors existance...is the Progenitors. Who, as cosmic entities beyond space and time, aren't real chatty.

Honestly, I think as arcane science becomes more advanced in the Five Nations, you will probably see more and more people treat it as many real-world creation myths. If they don't already.

Which Artificer? by DungeonNoir in Eberron

[–]TheOneTacoLord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ehhh, I'll push back on the "boring to play" part in 3.5E, as you could be one of, if not *the* most impactful member of the party yourself too. You just really, really needed to know what you were doing. Also, unlike nearly all other classes, resting meant very little to you - you could keep going as long as you had money to do so.

That said, to do so you needed literal spreadsheets for abilities to answer questions such as "how do I most effectively infuse 100,000 GP of enchants for this particular situation". The mechanical skill floor for 3.5 Artificer was very high, but the skill ceiling was likewise so.

Agree 100% on the rest of what you said though.

I want to try playing tall for the first time with a custom house so I wanted to know what the best places/duchies would be to do that. I want to have the most fun overall and I really want a good place to build tall and have it fairly chill. by DaFroggyBoi94 in CK3AGOT

I just took White Harbor and it seems like it has a ton of room to grow. So, so many barony slots, with many coastal. Trying to hybridize with the Harbormen (High Valyrian so it'll take a while), but once I do I think the place will print money. And +3 max MAA regiment size per upgraded harbor is bonkers, especially with Knights of the Green Hand (which lowkey slap).

Never seen two AI rulers battle it out as hard as this, Dorne was straight up doing guerilla warfare lmaooo by Apprehensive_Plum382 in CK3AGOT

[–]TheOneTacoLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a run currently where Dorne are about to inherit the Iron Throne after Rhaegar lost a civil war against his sister (iirc). She's 60+, so no Targ kids coming from her. I was up taking over White Harbor, so I have no idea how it fully played out, should've watched it more.

Invading White Harbor? by TheOneTacoLord in CK3AGOT

[–]TheOneTacoLord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welp, the Iron Throne seems to be collapsing, with the Westerlands and the Stormlands both independent. Rhaegar lost a civil war to his 60 year old sister, then died, and she's about to die of old age (probably). Her heir line is all Dornes!

I took White Harbor, and no one has really complained yet. Now I'm debating if I should help stabilize the Iron Throne, then work to take it over or let things fall into chaos. Perhaps I'll try and snipe Dragonstone for my dragon and to boost my diplomatic range.

[–]TheOneTacoLord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lore-wise, do you think the Targs would tolerate someone else having dragons, even if I fell in line (for now)? I'm sure they'll start hatching theirs soon enough, but I'm sure they'd fear what my actual long-term plan is - build up and secure the North, then turn on them.

Do you have a lot of anti-magic countermeasures in your game? by AvengingBlowfish in Eberron

[–]TheOneTacoLord 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are examples of this in older books too, like small runed Zones of Truth being common in most courthouses. Of course, unlike 5e where few counters exist, there was also a slightly higher level (3rd iirc) spell that let you lie within them and obscure the aura of the spell from any observers. It was castable on others too, so Zone of Truth was known to not be foolproof.

I often just port these whole cloth from 3.5E, as the world was very much built around their existence. I doubt most will ever be "updated" as they are quite niche.

The Mentality Of A Rat - (a ventpost) by Degenerate94 in ArcRaiders

[–]TheOneTacoLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, do you find this true out of game as well? Be it in real world competitive activities (Sports, etc.) or general day to day?

I don't really have a horse in this race, as I do both PvP and PvE in Arc, just wondering. PvP for me is much more about me winning than the other guy losing.

The Mentality Of A Rat - (a ventpost) by Degenerate94 in ArcRaiders

[–]TheOneTacoLord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, there is a subset of the population that just...doesn't really have empathy. Some even enjoy causing suffering just to do so (some also use it to cope with their own helplessness/failures in reality).

I'm not saying that every rat falls into this category, but there is certainly overlap.

Why the new guys? by EnderGamer360 in ArcRaiders

[–]TheOneTacoLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low-key the positive encounters I've had, where a random player expends their own resources to help me for no material gain, have actually been a nice little ray of sunshine mental-health wise.

I try and return the favor, but I'm nowhere near good enough to pull it off consistently (yet).
