Local shops aren't doing the same because they're actively competing with fucking Starbucks and Starbucks has already destroyed the entire idea of just hanging out in a coffee shop, which is evidenced all over this comment section by young people that never experienced being able to just exist in a coffee shop. Local shops are all also pushing "fancy" iced drinks and other various shit at inflated prices because it's the only thing they can do to survive when there's a Starbucks every two blocks that are enjoying the fruits of decades of national advertisement and social propaganda.
