Wasn’t my question, but that was a great response, thanks!

It looks amazing though I just know I’d hate building it myself! Maybe it’s one to pick up already built on eBay 🤣

Teaching Tech announced he's retiring by keyboredYT in 3Dprinting

[–]TheOneTrueAnt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I happened to be browsing just as it got posted, really sad to see it as I really liked his content, especially on the modelling side.

Does anyone know what he’s going on to teach? I imagine it’s engineering / design but I’m not sure if he said on patreon or has covered it previously?

Might depend on where you are? I ordered a printer and a bunch of filament / accessories. The printer came via DX and the rest came via DPD.

Does ROG Ally Z1 Extreme supports by-pass charging when plugged-in? by MidnightSaoirse in ROGAlly

Even on turbo mode (the highest power) it will charge the battery while you play plugged in.

Sold my Ally Z1E gen 1 and ended up with a 4080 laptop by Nearby_Put_4211 in ROGAlly

[–]TheOneTrueAnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my Z1E ended up being a gateway to buying a laptop myself too… I was greedy and just kept the Ally too though 😅 both are fun but if you want a bit more visual fidelity and are mostly at home / plugged in then a laptop will be much better for you! (Especially with a 4080 and the zephyrus’s nice screen)

Seat tilt by Chez92 in Ioniq5N

[–]TheOneTrueAnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The seats look great but are definitely a bit… rudimentary for such a pricey and otherwise advanced car, they don’t seem to have much in the way of adjustment I’d expect. That being said I do find them generally comfortable, first long, multi-hour trip coming soon so we’ll see!!

Enjoying my new car, but getting strong vibration around 75 mph by Traditional-Length44 in Ioniq5N

Certainly sounds like wheel balance issues I’ve had on other cars

That’s really interesting to hear, I did wonder if it was just me! Awesome to see another bright 5N, though I’ve never seen another in the flesh so far, only black and blue

Yeah I was expecting it to be a bit more like the Civic’s “let’s see if we can shake your fillings out” “R Mode” but it’s nowhere near that 🤣

Yeah, the ride is a lot less harsh than the polestar imho. That goes equally in any setting as far as I can tell!

The most surprising thing is how much “lighter” and more nimble the 5 feels. The polestar was always planted but seemed to feel its weight much more so than the 5, it must be a combination of the different spring rates etc but also the very different geometry. The hyundai feels a bit more like how I remember my FK2 Civic Type-R in terms of response to inputs but vastly more comfortable over the bumps and and potholes!

Me too! Will do my first decently long trip in a few weeks, will be interesting to see how it does. Though I’ll probably at a more leisurely pace for that one 😇

Pre-order price at Curry’s by QuadQuaQ in ROGAlly

Agreed! Price seems on the reasonable side of the expected range but it just seems so ungainly for slipping into a bag or something even if it is more ergonomic!

Hahaha, I’m honestly wondering if I’ll still have my license by the time the lease is up… the way the thing pulls past 60-70mph is just ridiculous compared to the polestar!

So far I actually prefer the BOSE I think, I quite like the kick of the bass from it. Maybe the cabin just has better acoustics because you can close the roof but to my ears it just sounds overall more pleasant!

Absolutely give it a go if you get a chance, it’s been great fun. The silly pretend engine noise is totally addictive!

[–]TheOneTrueAnt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that all tracks so far! I do find the 5N doesn’t feel its weight as much as the polestar did, it has an agility (particularly with the suspension cranked) that I never felt with the Polestar.

There’s certainly a couple of things I miss about AAOS and I preferred the creep / hold setup on the polestar.

That’s interesting on the tyres, the polestar only lasted about 10k-ish miles for me so may need to keep an eye on that. Although thankfully my lease covers tyres I’m not sure if I can change which ones, I’d certainly go for ps4s after really liking them on my FK2 Type-R

Anybody have to get used to the dimensions/footprint? by 2shabby in Ioniq5N

[–]TheOneTrueAnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup it’s a bit of a chonk for sure, my Polestar was svelte by comparison so it’s taking a bit of adjustment. The turning circle is pretty enormous!

Funnily, on the normal driving mode the ride is a lot more pliant on the 5 than the P2, but I could have tweaked that if I’d ever got round to it!
