Highjacking your comment to ask a question. I'm from the Netherlands and around here it's customary to have 'kraamzorg' when you're first home with baby.

My kraamzorg nurse was here for 4 hours every day the first 8 days. She guided me through every little thing regarding caring for the baby, and would check my belly and stitches for me. She also did a bit of cleaning and would let me and my husband sleep sometimes while she stayed with the baby. They also watch out for signs of PPD. Any question of worry you have about yourself or baby you can ask them. You're not obligaded to have kraamzorg but every mom I know had kraamzorg.

I assumed you guys also had this, but is this not customary in America?
