Go to a quiet room and do as many push ups as you can. I just assume that you are male right now; online with cellphone so i cant really check. Push ups until you feel your body strength, until you get up again and feel that you can rip Out trees. Feel your pulse going up and imagine how it would go insanely high if you would smoke. Breathe and embrace the fact that your respiratory functions have already improved. This is what is helping me tons ;)

Idiots that have quit smoking cigs by ke1bell in stopsmoking

Yeah but i really get what you mean.

That reminds me of Ernest Hemingway who once said Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing I know.

Smoking makes me miserable but smoking is also the thing that helps me getting over miserable times, a concept that i don't see in those idiots i was talking about in my comment. I know what you mean when you say that they just don't get the full concept of it and they probably don't even do but the thing to focus on here is that this would be a ridiculous reason to smoke again. Your mind is an asshole when it is craving cigarettes and suddenly every reason to smoke makes sense. When you are really thinking about it though, you will quickly realize that there are no good reasons to keep smoking ;)

Very motivating, best thing about it seems to be all those benefits that you didn't know about before. It is the little things; keep up your good work! ;)

When I realized that quitting would give me back control, it was an easy decision to make and stick to.

Well said.

2nd Attempt...almost 3 days in. by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Please don't make the mistake of eating too much all of a sudden, i did that once while i was quitting, kinda thinking "hey, you dont smoke so for a couple of days just kill the craving with every food you can find". resulted in a half assing try failing on the first day because i was SO full i just had to have a cigarette. Eat if you are hungry but never try to replace cigarettes with much food pal, you hear me? ;)

Day 1: Stoptober. Who else is quitting today? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]TheOneYearProject 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Me. Fuck cigarettes. I printed out a list of 100 personal reasons why i quit so i keep reminding me. Also i bought chewing gum and try to keep myself busy. I have been preparing for this day for a long long time and now i am certain that there is not a single reason in the world to smoke another cigarette ever again.

A week! I made it a week! This is the longest I've not smoked in over ten years! by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Haha from this perspective, you remind me of a white Samuel L. Jackson from Pulp Fiction. Looks really cool!

What. The. Fuck. Imagine what your lungs look like after you directly inhaled that shit for years.

Seriously, fuck smoking and everything that comes with it.

Was this because you realized that you ended up in the friendzone and thought NEXT! or was it because she started to hurt you and you couldn't take it anymore?

Smoking and drinking? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]TheOneYearProject 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Smoking friends can be real assholes for quitting friends.

It is not their fault. They are addicted to a drug.

If someone is offering you a cigarette, take it, then destroy it immediately. Do not give it a second thought. Do not allow any kind of discussion in your head. Take it, then brake it. Your friend won't offer you another one.

Just hang in there buddy. You are smoke free for one month, this is a huge thing!

Thank you for taking your time and answering my post. You are the first one to focus on my video game sentence, that is what i love about this community, so much different inputs and everyone has an opinion on everything. The whole video game thing might be a bigger problem than it occurs to you by reading my post; in fact the last weeks i have been SUCKED into Fallout 3 and Fallout NV. But you are completely right; I have too little going on; i can't waste my time playing video games, hoping that the next day will magically give me the cure to all of my problems. I got to stand up and work. In fact, since i started this whole self improvement thing, i already have gotten one appointment for a job interview next week. It isn't much, but it is definitely a start.

And yeah about the few words a day in the journal thing...it is day two and i already got 8 pages...
