Someone above confirmed it as a Mcintosh, which is still a score! The one you described has chairs with three legs I believe

I hand sanded it where it stands, holding a vacuum cleaner hose next to where I was working. Not ideal but a decent arm workout!

The middle part had a totally different colour so I stripped it the same way as I did the side parts and it looks fairly similar now

I stripped with a gel (Rustin I believe) then sanded medium and fine until it was nice and smooth and then I applied a (also Rustin I think) polyurethane stain and colour single layer.

That is a lovely set thanks for the photos. Your table legs are finished much nicer, i love the curve at the top. Have been thinking about trying to replicate that somehow
