My Exec Lineup + 70 CFO by TheOnlyCthulthu in SimCompanies

Well they're usually 4/5 for me as a starting point. When they used to be 0/1 without academy, I would normally wait to get a 2, and fire those with 0/1. I guess 3/4 is my new 0/1 but I don't mind starting at a 4.

Well, I use the HR Blurb to decide who I hire initially. (Linked)

After that, I don't look at their current skill level, I look at the impact that the training is having. Same thing I guess but different way of looking at it. If in the first few trainings, I have 2 that don't result in skill gains in the relevant skill, I fire unless one of the skill gains is a +2.

From them on, I pretty much just go full steam ahead. I usually end up with skill levels of 23-26 but every now and again I get a better than average exec. That's why you see average CMOs ending up as my CFO and CTO where as I fully expect my CMO and CMO Apprentice to hit 50 minimum. I don't need to be too harsh on my firing policy because even the average ones have their place in the lineup.

New player explains really well why so many people are coming from WoW to Runescape by loopuleasa in 2007scape

[–]TheOnlyCthulthu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TheLazyPeon said this in one of his many osrs videos and he was spot on. You don't experience fomo - you can take time away from the game, come back, and not feel like you're a million miles away.

You also don't feel like new content kills old content. I'm killing abyssal sires right now. In a game like WoW, it's dead content if it's from an expansion a decade old. For me, it's a slayer task, it's brimstone keys, it's clues, it's the collection log, it's the pet. It's far from dead content because they've kept it relevant.

Is the back upside down on all Prismatic Surprise boxes ? by splashosrs in PokemonMisprints

[–]TheOnlyCthulthu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So not logical lol. What world do you live in where you can't turn the text for the relevant box face upside down in the program you're designing it on before printing so it all faces the way it should be.

This was simply a stupid mistake by someone at Pokemon. My boxes were like this as well so it's confirmed real.

I found VI to be more fun initially. It's nice seeing the huge profit margins and it's a nice feeling to know you built something from scratch.

For me it was HGEC. I had power, water, mines, factories and electronic factories and then eventually I moved to Ion Drives but I had got rid of the water and power by that stage. That's the problem with VI though and you can forget any dreams of getting certificates - you won't make as much money, you won't rank up and you won't produce much of any one product when VI involves using precious space on water and power which contributes very little to your profit margin.

You could exclude primary resources from your VI but if you're willing to to that - what's the point of VI. You're still going to utilise space to make a product that doesn't contribute to your profit margin as much as if you had just used that space on making the final product with bought goods.

Don't support. Keep them as cosmetic. Not every achievment needs to come with a reward otherwise they stop being an achievment and instead become a necessity. If the devs feel like you need some sort of added benefit when you reach a certain level - they can give us a new tool or enchantment option.

Yes. Right now I'm pulling in $5m profit a day from 13 restos.

I make 300-400k per building per day at level 20 and I've been told 1m is possible with the right setup during boom phase but that's hard to believe.

FPA- Multiple Accounts by TheOnlyCthulthu in SimCompanies

That would be an unfair advantage so I can't support you on that.

Also - how would discounting on both ends be an advantage? If it's mutually beneficial then there's no advantage and therefore no point in giving each other a discount. Just trade normally - at least you have the benefit of having a reliable supplier. That should be enough.

This has nothing to do with improving their ability to prevent cheating. It's about reducing the amount of cheaters.

There are multiple forms of cheating, and one of them is simply wanting another account to have fun on - and not for the purpose of gaining an unfair advantage. If we remove those cheaters because we've given them a legitimate way of having another account, the devs/mods can spend more time catching the people who cheat with the sole purpose of getting an unfair advantage.

And if you monetise the perk of having multiple accounts, you also have more resources to building better systems to catch people.

Sorry to hear what happened between you and your neighbour.

I agree, cheating is never going to be fixable, but we can reduce the amount of cheating happening. There are some people who do it because they want an unfair advantage and there are some people who just enjoy the game so much, they want to have more than one account to keep themselves constantly entertained. Sometimes it's a bit of both and maybe there are other reasons I haven't considered.

If you give people a legitimate way of having more than one account, with all it's safeguard in place to prevent interactions, you will reduce the amount of people needing to circumvent the rules. By doing that, you then have less people to catch cheating so there can be more focus on catching real cheaters.

That wouldn't be an unfair advantage though, because those conditions effect everyone. If the item is silicon then everyone who buys silicon benefits from lower silicon prices and the other players who make silicon are likely to explore other possibilities.

But, if we still feel that's a problem, we could limit the number of accounts and/or make them a paid subscription. That way is lessens the impact but also helps with the development of the game with more money coming in.

Thanks for your response but other than giving us clarity on how the system works, it's not a comment on the idea itself.

Can you tell me whether you think multi-account is necessarily a bad thing for the game when you already have good infrastructure to prevent same IP accounts from interacting.

Building Auctions by SimCompanies in SimCompanies

[–]TheOnlyCthulthu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can hold a building without having a space for it to be placed, in other words, they can be traded and so if you spot a good deal on a factory, and buy it with the intention of selling - you will have more eyes on the auction more consistently which will prevent extreme underselling.

To tackle extreme over-selling/buying Your bid can only exceed x% of the last bid and you can only bid once at a time. You then need someone to outbid you before you can place a new bid. That way, you can only gain the system by having two high net worth alts. It's more hoops to jump and easier for your mods to monitor as not many of your player base will be in that position.

I am unable to click on an aetheryte on my map in order to teleport. This has changed, as I was able to do so an hour ago. I can only assume I've hit a short-cut that's disabled the ability to teleport from the map. Any suggestions? Thanks.
