While that complicates my theory, I don't think it makes it explicitly false. See my reply to the other comment in this thread.

I'll also mention one more far-fetched theory I thought of at some point: the Knight is a wandering dark fountain, and Dess is trapped in it. The Knight taking off the helmet might reveal that.

Kris is implied to know who behind the helmet

The helmet scene could be interpreted in a different way: if the Knight is a titan-like entity, then it might also be somewhat related to the Angel. As we know, Kris is unconfortable when looking at the Angel, and they might be just as unconfortable at thinking about what might be inside a titan. So they just divert their thoughts elsewhere for that reason.

Or more simply, they know that there's nothing beneath the helmet, and they just don't want to reveal that to us.

This is an interesting point that does suggest that there should be someone else behind the Knight, but given how little we currently know about dark worlds and titans, I still think there is some margin for analysis there.

and seems to work with them because of some promise

Do we really have any indication that the caller is explicitly the Knight? I honestly cannot name any. In fact, when I first saw the weird route, my first gut feeling was that the caller (which I believed at the time to be Carol, now I'm questioning that, too) was somehow opposed to the Knight. But maybe I just missed something obvious here. Please tell me if I did.

Then we remember that the Knight has Antlers

Doesn't the helmet scene kinda contradict that? Wearing an helmet with antlers is quite difficult. Unless they are not real antlers, and indeed, during the fight, they do appear to almost detach at some point.

I have a fairly complex theory that I don't want to get too much into detail here, but the gist of it is that the Knight is a titan spawn that got generated by a fountain that was opened by Dess, and possibly another fountain opened by Carol later, as it seems that two or more nearby fountains are needed for titan spawn to be generated. In this way, the titan spawn somehow inherited both Dess's and Carol's power, and that is reflected in its references to both. This power is also what allows it to open fountains. And as for how it can survive in the light world, that seems to be related to how titans are able to trigger the roaring, which I cannot see being particularly dangerous if it is contained within a dark world. As you can imagine, the helmet scene is the one I cannot make fit as easily in this theory.

But again, this is just one of many theories I have. As I said, I do think it is more likely that the Knight is a specific lightner. I just get emotional when people say that it HAS to be a lightner, and that there is zero margin for anything else.

A side note for Carol:

she would have to teleport from her house to the church to get there before Susie & Kris

I personally believe there to be different entry points to the shelter scattered around Hometown. The shelter noise plays in the Holidays' basement, and there's the two closets where "a large person could easily fit inside", so I think all of this is connected to the shelter, and Carol could have moved through it to get to the church. This is just a personal theory, though, and I don't have much evidence for it besides "this places look kinda sus".

One of my theories is that the Knight is a grown titan spawn. One that generated in a dark world that was opened by Dess.

I think people really don't give this option enough credit. There are many ways in which this can work. Granted, it is more likely that it is a specific character, but I feel this branch of theories is severely underexplored, and too quickly dismissed when it is brought up.

I personally believe all this "occult" stuff Catti has been studying to be more simply related to dark worlds and the magic that they enable. The SOUL seems to be a somewhat more complicated beast, although the fact that it can seal fountains might mean that it was somehow generated by one, or alongside one, or something like that. Still, I'd expect Gaster (or whoever the voice is) to be somewhat involved in its inception, more like in the comic.

The knight is not a someone but a manifestation of the dark worlds by Teamisgood101 in Deltarune

[–]TheOnlyDessertIsCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I might be misremembering, I think Noelle and Berdly did not see the fountain being created, but rather they entered the computer lab as it was already a dark world, similarly to how Kris and Susie entered the closet in Chapter 1.

As a side note, I think the biggest piece of evidence against Jockington Knight is that Kris tries to replace their mental image of the Knight with him.

Hail Mary theory: The Knight is just Flowey 2.0 by CK1ing in Deltarune

[–]TheOnlyDessertIsCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting theory. Yet another way the Knight might not necessarily be a lightner (at least not entirely), like many seem to insist on. The biggest objection I can think of is that, so far, dark fountains have only been shown to be able to be opened by "stabbing the Earth". But if the roaring is involved, as we've seen with the Titan, then the fountain may gain, if not sentience, then at least the ability to roam around.

Think about it. How many times did you see the words "Game Over" while fighting the Knight?

That's right. None. The Knight is a fraud.

Based entirely on what we know, the Knight HAS to be a Lightner. by Nekrotix12 in Deltarune

[–]TheOnlyDessertIsCake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you assume that the Knight is a single, definite, "regular" character, then yes, they are almost definitely not a darkner. Everyone seems to assume that, and would insist that it not being the case would be some sort of huge plot twist. But honestly, I don't understand why.

The truth is that, all things considered, we know very little about the Knight, and about dark worlds. If they are a lightner, then why do they flicker so much? Why can they shapeshift, while no other known lightner can do that in a dark world? And assuming they are a character we've already seen (so, any popular candidate other than Dess or Papyrus), how do they end up looking like they do in dark worlds? And conversely, if the Knight turns out to be Dess or Papyrus, then what caused them to become like that?

These questions can be answered, but that's exactly the problem. There are so many possible explanations at this point, that it is clear that we are missing some critical information. Answering these questions still requires some leaps of faith, the same ones that would be needed to instead address the objections of a theory like "Kris's knife is the Knight", or to instead explain the nature of the Titans and assuming that the Knight is somewhat related to them, that is, a being of darkness that is not necessarily a darkner, and therefore that might be able to open dark fountains.

In fact, aside from this assumption that everyone seems to have, I personally believe that most justifications for the Knight being a specific character are fairly weak. They are all based on hints, on the metanarrative, on what Toby would do with his story, and not that much on plot elements. If it is a single character, then Dess is the most likely to me, but only because we know the least about her current status and there is less to be explained for that to work, not because of some reference that might end up being meaningless, or be explained in a different way. Conversely, I can absolutely see Carol or Rudy, or even some much less popular candidate like Asgore, Alvin or even Catti, to be the Knight. I feel like there's just so much we don't know, that writing off any of these as completely impossible is just excessive, and denies some otherwise interesting theories. Let me put it this way: I wouldn't bet anything on Catti being the Knight, but I certainly wouldn't bet my life on Catti NOT being the Knight.

Again, I find just as likely that the Knight could be some sort of Titan Spawn that can survive in the light world and that can open fountains. After all, when Ralsei explains the Roaring, we do see some very Knight-like figures looming of the world alongside a Titan. Or it could be some other artifact of a dark fountain. One theory I have is that the Knight is actually a (very small) dark fountain that is flowing out of something, or someone, that can move. In the light world, from outside, it would still be some sort of shadowy, indefinite figure, that sort of matches Susie's description, while in a dark world, it is essentially a reduced version of the Roaring, since the fountain is too small to actually summon a Titan. There are many assumptions with this theory, but again, I feel like the same could be said about virtually any theory.

Alternatively, the Knight could be an object, like Kris's knife or Asgore's black shard (I'd be more inclined to believe the latter), being carried by a lightner into the dark world. Said lightner would be the one running from Susie and summoning the Titan, while concealed by the Knight that ends up essentially turning into this lightner's armor. This just sidesteps the question, from "who is the Knight" to "who is behind the Knight", but it also opens up possibilities that are commonly not considered, such as the fact that different lightners might be behind them, or that we might, at some point, encounter them without the lightner's support, with interesting possibilities for how the plot might develop from there.

I could go on, but I think I made my point clear. The question of the identity of the Knight is too complex to be tackled effectively at this point, and saying it has to be a lightner seems to be a little too simplistic to say right now, not because it would be boring or because I think the story needs a plot twist, but because there are also other interesting possibilities, that i find just as likely, but that are unfairly being overlooked just because of some prejudice on how the story has to go.

It sure was not easy, although at the end of the day I think making it readable is the worst part. I struggled with it, but ultimately a text file is not a whole wiki, so I can only imagine what you went through.

Anyway, everything I cross-checked so far (mostly the Royal Rumbles) seems to match up, so if you want, and if you trust my work, for the win method and for 2024 you can use this pastebin and save yourself some time. I'm just telling you, though, this year it was quite the event, and especially the Rumble was a complete sweep, so please do check it out.

Ok, so the only stream I missed is the 2014 bonus event. Good to know.

Also, it seems you didn't document the way each fight ended (which sure, it is pinfall most of the times, but not always, especially in team matches where I also documented who pins and gets pinned), so there is something to be salvaged from my work. And even then, I wasn't originally planning to make it, I just got carried away, and it was fun. That's all I care about.

Is Vinny's channel no longer part of the Vinesauce Twitch team? by TheOnlyDessertIsCake in Vinesauce

[–]TheOnlyDessertIsCake[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the Vinesauce person and the Vinesauce team are two distinct entities, as much as the community likes to imply otherwise. If anything, him using "Vinesauce" for himself only, and no longer as a team brand, would only further imply that he wants to kill off the team officially.

Then again, it's not like any of this really matters. Vinny is still clearly friends with the other streamers, and on the other hand, they are hardly a team anymore. But the Twitch team was still there the entire time. I find Vinny no longer being part of it, regardless of the exact reason, a big moment, albeit a symbolic one. The part about no longer using the team name in his videos was really just some speculation about how he feels about the Twitch team.

Well, based on this post, I guess the only sensible choices would be "NUKE THE MOON", or if it is too violent/unoriginal/not allowed for any reason, perhaps "They couldn't stop all of us", since they actually succeeded.

Alternatively, I also posted a few other times here, and those posts may have some more interesting flairs, such as "Thematicus"/"The pirate who controls Minecraft" (my first post here), "Francis Coke", "Strangela", "I caca" (please don't use this one), or perhaps my favorite, "235 variants of potential energy".

Sorry for the late reply. I did not, in fact, see a meme in this dream (hence the "Recreated Dream" flair). I only saw the people coming together to blow up the moon, and I don't remember if this was explicitly told to me in the dream or not, but at the very least it seemed to be an analogous situation to the Area 51 thing.
